Fun and frothy romance with heart and real emotion as well. Loved the take on those Bachelor-type reality TV dating shows and how much fake stuff there is behind the scenes. I rooted for Walker and Roan to find their genuine HEA and wasn’t disappointed.
In an attempt to help his ranch, Walker signs up for a reality show. A queer version of the Bachelor, one that is bound to get high ratings and make sure that Walker can help pay the debt his ranch is under. Roan is only participating in Queer Seeks Spouse as a way to get money to help his mom. When Roan sees where they are going to be filming, Walker’s ranch, and sees the other contestants, he is unsure if he is doing the right thing and not even confident that he will make much of an impression. Somehow, someway Roan makes an impression with Walker, but can two people that are only in this for the money actually make something work from this circus that they both signed up for?
I actually really found myself totally enjoying this read! I was excited to see what drama was going to be created by Molly and Andy. This was actually a good play on a reality dating show, and had all the bases covered. I found myself very entertained by this read and give it 4 stars.
I’m not a huge cowboy fan but Walker won me over pretty quickly in this story with his quiet dignity and passionate dedication for his family and his farm. Roan is a character I think we can all identify with at some point – a little bit awkward, a little bit self-conscious and always feeling like he’s out of place. Both Walker and Roan endeared themselves to me as a reader within the first few pages and while the story took many twists and turns, the connection between the two characters was strong and beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and highly recommend it for anyone wanting a sweet story that shows two characters overcoming the odds to find their HEA.
This is a fun story. Based on those reality TV shows where everybody is ‘interacting naturally, but you know behind the scenes there is machinations and reshoots and scripting. It leaves a situation ripe for misunderstandings and manipulation by third parties, especially those pesky tv folks (all of whom were absolutely ghastly). Both Walker and Roan were only in it for the money but the connection was there for them from the beginning. Love the scene where they go noodling 😀
A really enjoyable, light and fluffy read with a side order of angst.
Trigger warning: parental death
This book ticked all of the boxes: it was funny, heartbreaking, hot as *** and soul-affirming. When a story can make you laugh out loud, wipe tears from your eyes, and warm you from the inside out, you know you’ve hit gold. I really *hate* reality shows, but I so very much enjoyed the fictional one here, with the loathsome and calculating producers and the diverse group of contestants vying for the cowboy’s attention. Walker really only has eyes for Roan, however, and getting there was oh so enjoyable. Giddy-up! Highly recommended.
This book was so good! I figured I’d like it because I’m a fan of the authors, but that is an understatement. I loved it, couldn’t put it down. It was funny, sweet and full of fake and real drama caused by the reality show’s producers. It also had a lot of depth that I wasn’t expecting. I shed a few tears with this one. It was a wonderful slow burn with an explosive and steamy conclusion. And the HEA was beautiful, if a bit bitter sweet as well.
I didn’t expect this story to absolutely consume me like it did. Whoa. Cowboy meets hipster. Who knew? It was freaking GOLD.
Walker lives on his parents ranch. His dad is getting older and weather issues have drained the savings so finances are tight. A new reality show offered $300K to Walker to become the first gay bachelor-type show in history. And he took it. But it isn’t like anything he’s ever experienced and all of the suitors are overwhelming.
Roan needs money. His mom is dying. His last chance is this cowboy bachelor show. If he can just make it a few weeks, he’ll have enough to get his mom into a medical trial that could save her life. He just has to make sure to keep his feelings out of this. And it turns out it’s harder than he thought.
I devoured the words here. Honestly, I really didn’t expect this light-hearted story to impact me so much, but the writing was so great. The characters were so deep. The romance was so tender. I loved the dialogue. I loved the little accessory things like the fact that Roan wore glasses for fun. That Walker had a bit of a kinky side. That they didn’t take life too seriously, but still cared so deeply.
Honestly, I could recommend everything about this story. Yes, the setup was a bit cheesy, but it was all in fun and the MC’s really made this story so consuming and lovely. Go get it and read it and you’ll be glad you did.
I loved this fun cowboy/reality TV romance by Leta Blake and Indra Vaughn. It was the perfect blend of practical cowboy and flashy TV for a amusing and romantic romp through eligible bachelors. Roan, the hipster love interest, was endearing as he desperately tried to help his ill mother in the only way he could — by winning money from the show to get her into a drug trial that might prolong her life. There are some fantastic scenes in this book. There’s a hilarious bit about noodling — if you don’t know what that is, you *must* read and find out! And there’s some super steamy parts, too. But what I loved most were all the real emotions flying between the two main characters as they tried to suss out real feelings from contrived show biz antics. A thoroughly enjoyable read!
I loved this book so much. It’s based on an imaginary gay dating reality show, so there’s a lot of moments of doubt if what the characters are doing is genuine or fake. Walker and Rohan’s instant connection, though, is anything but fake, everyone can see and feel that. They click immediately and the way they care for each other is beautiful!
Cowboy Seeks Husband is a delightful standalone romance that was filled with hijinks, shenanigans, tenderness, and above all: love. The plot setup was really interesting: two men desperate for money sign up for a reality dating show not expecting anything but money. Falling in love for real was not part of the script, but the connection between Walker and Roan was too strong to be confined by TV production rules. I found the reality TV portion really fascinating, especially how Walker and Roan had to be creative to escape the constrictions that have been placed on them. There was also some very emotional scenes that really touched my heart. This book has angst and sorrow, but the pain those scenes bring is soothed away by the sweet and tender romance between the two men. Absolutely loved the epilogue and wished it was longer and that there was a second or third epilogue – heck I would LOVE a sequel.
John Solo narrated this audiobook and did a fantastic job as always. John’s voice was perfect for both Walker and Roan, and he made the steamy moments even sexier. I loved the performance and could hardly stop listening. Overall, the audiobook’s narration, storyline, and production was so well done that it was a joy to listen to.
What do you do when the reality show becomes real?
This is a funny, delightful book! The characters pulled me in from the first pages. I learned more about filming a reality tv show that I ever wanted to know. But amidst all the set- ups, pretending, and staged scenes, two men actually manage to find love. Both in it for the money, they never expect to be attracted to each other. An attraction that is as immediate & intense as it is inevitable. Walker & Roan are made for each other. Come. Join them as they journey to HEA. You will laugh & cry with them; through stolen moments, secrets, forbidden sex, manipulation, noodling, leeches and tenderness. I became totally invested in their lives. You will, too. Ooh, did I mention there are horses? You are gonna love this book!
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.
It was a good read. At times I wanted to shake a character or two, but overall I enjoyed the book.
A rating. This had the potential to be really cheesy, but instead it was simply a good read with some fun, interesting characters and a really developed story line along with several really good side-plots. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one!
I’ve read one of these authors before. This was a mm contemporary story set in the USA. Roan is a contestant is a new reality show Queer seeks a spouse. Walker is the bachelor looks for a husband. His farm shed is rebuilt to accommodate all contestants and film crew. Loved this light story, and shed a few tears too. I’ll read more from this author pairing.

This is a very interesting book. I have to admit, I personally avoid reality TV at all times unless it involves DIY projects, so I have no idea about the validity of the content of the story; but it seems pretty close to what my imagination has always conjured.
This romance takes place during the filming of the first LGBT romance reality show, “Queer Seeks Spouse.” It has somehow gained substantial financial backing, and that’s what motivates everyone, from bachelor down to the suitors. Except for Andy, he’s the flamboyant director; he’s doing it to make his husband happy. But, everyone else? Yeah, the money.
Walker is the bachelor. He owns Reed Ranch after taking things over from his father. The last couple of hurricanes have really put the ranch in dire straits. When his ranch hand turns in an application unbeknownst to Walker, he is chosen to be the star of the show. He’s not happy about the contract and the time commitment, but the money could save the ranch.
Roan had to drop out of grad school a year ago to come home and take care of his mom. She’s dying, but there’s a medical trial that could possibly help; if he can come up with the money. His goal is to do his best to make it to at least week five of the show; the money should be close enough, and it’s not like he’s really going to fall in love with this guy, right?
Once the cameras start rolling, they don’t stop, and it’s the producers’ roles to make sure the audience gets “good TV.” Drama, jealousy, and surprises wait around every corner just to get the best ratings; cast members’ real feelings aside. But, feelings and secret rendezvous still happen, whether it’s frowned upon or not.
When tragedy strikes, Roan is shattered, and Walker feels completely helpless with his hands tied by the contract. Walker must make the right decision for himself in regards to the show, then take care of the important people in his life.
On a side note: I absolutely adored Walker’s parents. Well, his dad was frustrating at times, but they were awesome about teasing Walker about his private life, and sharing a little too much of theirs for his comfort. Ha!
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed reading about a reality show. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I liked the way the authors chose to be realistic, at least in my mind, about the ins and outs of this kind of fictional “reality.” Oh, I almost forgot! Although there weren’t many, the sexy times were sizzling, and I think they were even better because there were so few.
Happy reading!
