One look was all it took for my heart to break all over again. I wasn’t over him. Not one bit.
But things have changed, and not for the better.
Recently widowed, Luke is carrying darkness and secrets.
Everyone tells me to stay away. Even him. He’s a mess. Broken. Incapable of giving me what he says I deserve.

Mia has secretly loved her best friend Luke, but he only saw her as a friend. When he married someone else she decided she needed to put some distance between them and move on with her life. Years later they meet again he tells her he is a widower and that they hadn’t gotten along before her death. Wow, this is an emotional story that pulled at my heartstrings it’s filled with drama, heartache, angst, steam and so much more.
This is the first book I have read from this author and I really enjoyed it! It’s a fast paced read with a lot of heart and emotion. The characters are engaging and relatable. I love glass art, my grandfather apprenticed as a glass artist at Corning Inc. so I loved this story line a lot. I’m definitely going to check out her other books.
The storyline was well written and the characters were so well developed that as each and every page was turned I felt like the characters jumped from the pages and pulled me right into their story as it unfolded!

Heart of Glass is a fabulous standalone romance which tells the story of Mia Watson and Luke Fraser. Mia is a gallery owner and has been friends with Luke, an emerging glass artist, for many years. Luke was awarded the commission to install a glass art piece at the Swan Point Botanical Gardens. The only issue is that Mia has been secretly in love with Luke for many years. The project lasts for only six weeks, so Mia is hopeful she can handle it. But, the last time she saw Luke, they were in New York, and he was married.
Heart of Glass is the first book in the Hearts on Fire series written by author Jordyn White. The story is well written, and I became immediately captivated from the very beginning. It’s set within the Beautiful Rivers world, but you are not required to read the series beforehand. It’s just fun for those that know the Rivers and their story. I do recommend that you check their books out since they are also fabulous!
A definite add to your TBR list!

“Such a stunningly beautiful place for one’s heart to be ripped out.” What??? Such an intriguing first line of a great book! I was hooked!
That’s what I love about a Jordyn White book! So engaging and captivating-I did not want to put it down, but alas life calls!
I loved Mia and Luke, each with their own secrets and pain, but each of them able to move through life making it through, but is that really living? Mia was a very strong woman who was able to love and forgive and keep seeking the good she knew Luke had in him.
Luke, Luke, what awful pain to live with! But oh my goodness when his shattered heart was ready to accept Mia’s open heart, WOW!
The descriptions used to explain making the glass sculpture and the finished glass sculpture are amazing-you feel like you can actually see it being made and the completed piece! So beautiful- Just like the story!
Mia’s friends sounded like a lot of fun and I cant wait to learn more about them in coming books! I’m sure they will have some great stories of their own-and hopefully we can get updates about Luke and Mia. I also enjoyed re-visting Swan Pointe, the same beach town we’re familiar with from previous books.
What a great start to a new series! Mia and Luke’s story is one of learning to trust one another enough to reveal your darkest secrets and believe in the other enough to know that they will still be here in the end. Love the way this story is told, holding your attention from start to finish! I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
4 Cranky Stars
Mia had big dreams and ended up in New York City. She landed working at an art studio and it’s here she meets Luke. She becomes inspired by his art and against her better judgement she falls for him. Sadly, Luke is a married man and she just sticks to a strictly platonic friendship with him. Mia is very good at compartmentalizing her feelings. When a death in her family has her going back home, she knows it’s for the best and this is where she is supposed to land. Now running her own art studio, she has a life for herself and a group of friends and family who love her so. When she suggests Luke for an art installation at the local botanical garden, she doesn’t realize how hard seeing him will be.
Luke is a glass artist and has made a name for himself in NYC. He lives with the tremendous guilt and self-hatred thanks to his recently deceased wife. They were in the process of divorce when she had a tragic accident and now Luke is just going through the motions. When he is offered this position, he immediately jumps for it. Maybe some time away from the city will be what he needs to heal. He doesn’t expect to fall for Mia so quickly or for all his ugly insecurities to surface.
This book took the verbally and mentally abused woman and flipped it. Luke suffered some serious issues of not having much self-worth. He had a big heart and he really tried with Gwen, but she stomped on him repeatedly. Mia was almost too much of a pushover for me. I didn’t really connect with the story too much. It was very sugary sweet at times and maybe that was what the author was going for. Her group of friends are very extra. When I say they discuss everything they discuss everything. It got to be too much. I guess this story is perfect for someone who like a little secretive story line with their sugary sweet romance. Luke and Mia are perfect for each other.
This was such an amazing story to read!
Mia refuses to pine for Luke any longer, but she can’t let that keep her from recommending him for a prestigious glass art commission. Luke’s feelings for Mia are likewise complicated, and his return to his hometown is fraught with tension, second thoughts, and maybe a regret or two.
The author brilliantly sets these two in motion, working together even as they purposely ignore their attraction to the other. There are heartbreaking secrets interwoven among the steamy sidelong glances and deeply meaningful artistic expressions. It’s a story that was instantly captivating, truly unputdownable, and oh-so-very satisfying at the end.
Art, like love, is beautiful, delicate, and absolutely essential to fulfilling our lives and giving us purpose. The romance is simmering with promise and gut-wrenching truth from start to finish. I couldn’t love it more, and highly recommend it to anyone who loves romance with a beautiful HEA. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
