A Boss’s Proposal is the first book by Layla Holt, and after reading this great introduction to her work, I’m excited to see what else she’ll give us. This story isn’t just about love. It’s also about family and learning to let go of the past, especially when it comes to Zeke. The couple don’t set out to fall in love, but as they spend more time together and discuss their pasts, they find it harder to resist the very obvious attraction between them. Some of my favourite scenes were of them just sitting and talking. You could see the trust growing between them, and Zeke and Isla don’t just fall for each other, they build an amazing friendship.
Having not read anything by Layla Holt before, I went into this story not knowing what to expect. It’s a lovely sweet romance that leaves you feeling warm inside as the couple get their HEA. You’re ‘hit’ with the story right from the start and are left wanting to see what happens next. I read this book in one sitting and was able to relax and just enjoy the story as it wasn’t full of angst or drama. And there were no complicated storylines to follow. I do feel there are parts that need working on, but that didn’t impact on my enjoyment of reading Zeke and Isla’s story. I would happily recommend this book to anyone.

What a lovely story! I really liked Isla, and Zeke was great too. Although their arrangement starts out as a business one, the lines between business, attraction and love soon get blurred! Their relationship progressed rather quickly, but it does so in a way that doesn’t feel rushed. Their chemistry was undeniable and although Zeke took forever to figure out his feelings (which was super frustrating), the ending was sweet and genuine. LOVED the epilogue! Although there was passionate kissing, it was a clean novel. The plot, although somewhat cliche, was good and I enjoyed it.
Overall, I would recommend this to all lovers of clean romances!
I really like Isla, she is determined to rise above her emotions and focused on her career goals. I didn’t like Zeke because of his arrogance which is the usual for his type. Their story is a quick read with some drama and even a little bit of heat. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author.
Love after loss
I liked this one. Lots of past hurting for our characters, but they work through it together when they are thrown into an uncomfortable situation… and fall in love with one another.
So much of the kissing, and a lot of descriptive emotion, but does not cross the line out of the “sweet” category.

This is a charming story about a woman who needs money to get through the summer and a man who needs a fiancee for his parents. Isla is everything that his family loves and Zeke denies his love for Isla. I love the chemistry and friendship that develops between these two. I however found Zeke overly arrogant, and a man who truly did not deserve someone as wonderful as Isla.
This was a great story. I had a hard time putting it down. The chemistry between Zeke and Isla just burns the pages. I liked how the plot took a turn in the book that I didn’t expect. It showed that our pasts get in the way of us finding our happiness. Isla was a strong independent woman that was trying to make it big in the big city. She had a lot of family issues to work out in the story. Zeke just wanted to make his grandmother happy, but took a round about way to do it. I like that both were able to work out their problems in the book. The fake relationship between Zeke and Isla did not seem too fake and they realized it, but it was still part of a business deal they had made. Overall, this was a sweet romance that had a lot of heat, yet stayed out of the bedroom. I recommend to those that like fake relationships turning real and lots of chemistry.

I must admit that I am always nervous when reading a novel by a new author, but I should have never worried for Layla Holt went above and beyond with her book “A Boss’s Proposal.” Now, I am aware that the summary might remind some of a past read novel, as it did for me, but do not be fooled for Ms. Holt took a well worn concept and completely revamped it. When it comes to a rating, I wish I could give more than 5 stars! The characters, the storyline, the intensity, everything was on point and very methodical. Such details and intrigue are hard to find in most writings, but Ms. Holt pulled it off in spades. I will definitely read more pieces by her and look forward to what she has coming in the future!
