A marriage proposal gone wrong—a second chance to get it right. When architect Marley Patterson goes out with Von Ryan, she never expects her practical, cautious life to be turned upside down by the handsome contractor. Von is the definition of fun, until his proposal sends her into a panic. Marriage is too serious a commitment to make after dating for only six months. Even though she cares for … Even though she cares for Von, they are too different, so she breaks up with him.
Being rejected hurts, but Von blames himself for not reading the signs or Marley better. He finds solace in work; however, his construction company’s success isn’t enough. He wants to share his life with a woman who’ll love him as much as he loves her. She’s out there. All he has to do is find her and, this time, be patient for the relationship to develop on its own.
After Marley is assigned to Von’s new project in Indigo Bay, he treats her the same as everyone else—professionally and with respect—though neither can deny a strong mutual attraction still exists. Soon Marley realizes she may have been the problem with their relationship, not just Von’s proposal. She wants a second chance, but after breaking his heart once, will he give her a do-over?

Wonderful story of second (and third) chances, heartbreak, heartache, redemption and forgiveness. The characters are real and believable with flaws and struggles that have to be overcome in order to put the past in the past and to look to the future. Catching up with characters from previous books in the series is also a plus.
I found Marley to be a very interesting woman. She wasn’t ready for love the first time and broke it off. She never got over Von. They had to work on a project together and found that they still loved each other. Von was a risk taker and Marley didn’t take chances. Could they make it work this time?
I loved this book and will read more in the series.
I read this book as an ARC for an honest review.
I have only read a few of Melissa McClone’s books and I really enjoyed Sweet Do-Over. Marley Patterson is an architect and hoping to make partner with her firm. She has to still prove herself for the new assignment she just got. Little did she know she would be working with her ex, Von Ryan. Von had proposed to her and she said no. They were not on the same page with their relationship. She thought Von was too quick with his proposal and her feelings just were not the same. They were able to work together on the assignment and all the old feelings came rushing to the surface. How could she have feelings for Von when she had turned him down. Everyone warned Von not to get involved with her again but sometimes your heart just tells you something different. Marley wanted a second chance with him and things seemed to be going ok but she still felt Von was pushing and going too fast. She wasn’t ready for a commitment. Her family told her Von deserved someone to love him as much as he loved Marley. Did Marley finally realize what a mistake she had made and that she was the one holding back out of fear. You will have to read this sweet story to see if they get their second chance at love. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Time to sit back, turn off your mind, open your heart and let love in. Sweet Do – Over begins with heartache, but McClone appeals to that voice within the heart, encouraging us to never lose hope. For Marley and Von the wonder of love, has become a cloud of regret. Doubts crept in and ruined it all? Can a hopeless situation bloom into a happily ever after? Sweet tale of broken hearts and new beginnings that will wrap around the heart. (4.5 stars)
Great Summer Read!! I really enjoyed this story! All of us at one time in our lives has wished for a do over but rarely does that happen. Marley and Von get that chance and it’s fun, sweet and romantic. I just loved seeing them finally getting their happily ever after. If you’re looking for a great story to take to the beach or on vacation this story is perfect for that!
A Sweet Do-Over is a little different than the other many romances that I’ve read. This is a third-chance romance. I liked that Marley got a more thorough understanding of what her rejection of Von’s proposal was like for him. I found both characters to be likable although I wanted to take Marley aside and give her a good”talking to.” I loved the close family ties both Marley and Von had. I liked reading about the forgiveness and the acceptance of fault by the guilty party. There is a great HEA and a wonderful epilogue. I would love to read more of Melissa McClone’s books and would recommend this one to readers of clean/wholesome romance.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
