Sometimes pretending to be married is the only way to make your family happy…even when it means faking it with the guy who broke your heart in high school.FenWhen the girl that got away ten years ago comes back to town and needs help, sometimes you have to throw yourself in her path in order to be seen. Even if it means pretending not to have any feelings for her. Oh yeah, and pretending to be … feelings for her. Oh yeah, and pretending to be blissfully married to her. Maybe while we’re busy pretending, I can show her what she really means to me and convince her to stay.
Frances
I have no intention of settling back home in Love, Georgia. But when Granddaddy gets sick, I drop everything to take care of him. When I’m forced to marry someone to make him happy in his last days, I think twice but I do it anyway. Unfortunately, the only man willing is the guy that caused me to run away from this small town in the first place. And if I’m really being honest, pretending to be married won’t be simple when he’s easy on the eyes and sweeter than Granddaddy’s sweet tea.

What a sweet, fast read starring amazing characters Fen and Frances. This is a wonderful tale of unrequited love that has its second chance after 10 years. I read an advanced copy of this book for an honest review, and it blew me away! Great, funny, and witty dialogue with banter aplenty and heartfelt moments that bring a tear to the eye.
A fake marriage arrangement, with a possible second chance. This was a cute, quick read that left quite the smile on my face! This was my first book by Marika Ray and I can’t wait for more.
One of the sweetest novellas I have ever read! Perfect length to give you enough back story to draw the connections that you need and long enough to give you that HEA you want. Second chance in a way, old friends turned marriage sham. I loved every aspect of this book from the sham, to grandpa, to nerdy archaeologist, and the twists and turns. Super clean but you need that, this book gives you the feels deep in your belly. I loved this read!
This was such a sweet and lovely short story. I honestly loved ever minute. The storyline was very enjoyable and kept my interest. A very enjoyable quick read.
The Marriage Sham is the story of Francis and Fen. Such a beautiful, moving and sweet love story. This has a bit of the fake to real romance with the 2nd chance at love which made this novella a great read. Fen and Francis’s chemistry lit sparks across the pages and their banter kept the heat going. The plot was one that kept me hooked from start to finish. What a beautiful read. Make sure you read this novella in the Lovers Landing series if no others.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *****
Frances moves back to her hometown to care for her dying grandaddy. One of his bucket list wishes is for his granddaughter to be married. Fortunately (or unfortunately?) for her, her unrequited high school crush lives next door and is more than happy to help her out.
These two are so sweet that you might end this book with a toothache but you’ll also be wearing a big smile!
What do u do when you want to give your granddaddy his dying wish? But that dying wish involves the man you ran from back in high school who you might just still have feelings for. You fake a marriage and see what happens from there. I enjoyed this one.Francis and Fen are some amazing characters. I loved the storyline. First book I have read from Marika and it has me wanting to read more. Great addition to the Lover’s Landing series.
Holy sweetness! The Marriage Sham is absolutely adorable! My little heart just may explode from all the feel good sweetness in the pages of this novella. Marika Ray has never failed in making my heart happy with her words but this is something totally new from her that I just did not see coming.
There was so much packed into this that was near and dear to my heart from being a small town Georgia girl myself to loving my own Grandaddy that helped raise me. I immediately formed a connection with Francis that made me absolutely adore her because of that. And then came Fen. *sigh* Sweet as candy and quickly sweeping me off my feet I couldn’t get enough of the man. Typically I lean away from clean and more towards the naughtier side but The Marriage Sham just taught me I can get just as much swoon without getting down and dirty.
Frances and Fen have the cutest love story in the cutest little town called Love, Ga. Everyone knows your name, and your business. Frances left Love,Ga for a reason but has no choice but to come back. Can the one that broke her heart mend it?
I’m a sucker for just about anything sweet. But if an author can give me a story that’s all cotton-candy fluff that has a rock-solid core, I will be their devoted slave for life. That’s exactly what I got with this book. There’s a beautiful second-chance story at the heart of this book that reminds us to take advantage of opportunities when they appear and that sometimes there’s a lot more going on than what we can see on the surface. Fen and ‘Francie’ are adorable together, and the townsfolk that surround them are a riot.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
This was such a sweet and heartwarming romance. I loved how Fen and Frances got together to honour her ailing grandfather’s last wishes. It was such a sweet gesture. While Fen and Frances’s relationship might have started out under false pretenses, it turned into something wonderful day by day. I loved how Fen has always had feelings for Frances, since they were in high school and was quick to help her honour her grandfather’s wishes and I loved how Frances couldn’t deny her true feelings for Fen. These two were literally meant for one another and yes they got together in an unconventional way but it just added to their story. Fen and Frances will captivate you with their charming story!
Frances was an event planner with a busy life in Atlanta when she received a phone call that would change her life forever. Her beloved grandfather had suffered a stroke and would need around the clock care when he went home. She dropped everything and raced home to Love, Georgia, a place that held many memories, both good and bad. He was so happy that she had come home to be with him that she knew she had made the right decision. Romance and love had never been in the cards for her, but when she spotted her grandfather’s hunky neighbor, a long forgotten feeling crept up her spine, telling her it wouldn’t hurt to have some fun once in awhile.
Fen was more than happy to be living back home in Love, because the big city was too much for him and he preferred his peaceful life and a job he could be proud of. Fen knew that Frances had come home to take care of her grandfather and just thinking about her, caused the old feelings he had as a teenager to come rushing back. It was time to find out why Frances disappeared all those years ago so he could tell her how he truly felt about her. Time is precious and he didn’t want to lose her again.
The importance of family and friends is a common theme in all of Marika’s Ray’s books. We all need someone we can count on, and Frances was there for her grandfather and Fen was there for her. They were willing to make a commitment to each other in order to see her grandfather smile and in the end, love found a way into their hearts. This is a positive and uplifting story that made me smile and believe that love can conquer all.
ONE HEART MELTING READ!!!
Wow! Yep, I’m a puddle. No way around it with this slow burn, heart reaching, achieving understanding, man you get all with a double dose of such epic proportions of feel good and wide smiles. Yep! This is that kinda gem. All the twists and turns, ups and downs, along with unexpected surprises that will totally blow you away. The drama, uncertainty, fear and a little intrigue make for one incredible experience. The characters and scenes are written with such realism it really pulls this little jewel together beautifully. Marika did a remarkable job bringing this read to life brilliantly. Fantastic job Marika, thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.
The Marriage Sham by Marika Ray is a fun short read. This is my first by read by Marika and I enjoyed it.
Frances lives in Atlanta Georgia, when she gets a call that her grandfather, the man who raised her had a stroke. she packs up her business and herself to move back to her hometown Love Georgia. When Frances gets to her childhood home she starts preparing for her grandfather’s release from the hospital. While Frances is by the kitchen window and she see’s her granddads neighbor in his yard, she finds that she can not move from that window, who is this hot dreamy guy she is staring at?
when Frances granddad gets home, he tells her about his bucket list. On the bucket list is seeing Francis get married before he dies, What does Frances do, does granddad get to see his granddaughter get married?
This book is part of a novella series by several different authors. As a whole the series are short fun reads with love, romance and some with mystery and suspense. I have enjoyed reading the series and finding new authors, I do recommend this book and all the other books from the series.
I’ve read all of Marika’s Beach Squad books and have enjoyed them all, but I really loved this sweet, simple story of second chances and mistaken impressions, mixed with a healthy dose of marriage of convenience. I could have wished for more on Frances’ relationship with her Grandpappy, or her history in the town and relationships there, but for what it is, the story is very well-written and convincing. Fen has always liked Frances, since back in high school when they met, but his missed his chance. Now he’s got another shot, and he doesn’t intend to waste it. I liked watching him romance Frances without her really noticing until it’s too late. The Marriage Sham combines all the best aspects of these tropes into a cute, likable, low-angst romance with a guaranteed HEA. Perfect feel-good read! I received an advance copy in return for my honest review. This 4.5 star second chance/marriage of convenience story is well worth picking up.
