Of Mice and Murder (Nevermore Bookshop Mysteries Book 2) Kindle Edition

I borrowed this book via the Kindle Unlimited program. I am choosing to leave a fair and honest review.
This is the second in series. It could be possible to read it as a stand-alone, but much of the nuance, fun and twists would be lost
“This is my life now, avoiding stabbings.”
Mina, Morrie, Heathcliff and Quoth are back for a new mystery. And they are back with sizzingly sexy time.
While Mina is with her trio at the Nevermore Bookstore. Fully intending to not get involved with another murder goes awry (see what I did there?- just read the book!) when village matrons begin to drop dead around her.
There is one thing that keeps me returning to Ms. Holmes work. She plays a delightful game with her readers. She peppers her books with sly references to books in the genre in which she is working. In this book, we are treated to the rich and glorious pulp mysteries. Beyond the three hunky men who are really fictional characters who have come to life via the magical Nevermore Bookstore. For instance, Heathcliff is the main character in Wuthering Heights. Speaking of Wuthering Heights, one of the character is named for Emily Bronte’s nom de plume.
Even if you don’t like the particular genre, read these books for the best literary references since your College Sophomore Lit Prof. And read it for the writing. When Ms. Holmes slips into a genre, she masters the feel, the particular dialect and the surrounding conventions for it. Whether is the dark New England of HP Lovecraft or the Manderley of Daphne Du Maurier or this perfect little village fit for a cozy or pulp mystery.
I have to say, I am constantly amazed with Ms. Holmes’ work. If you haven’t read anything of hers, this series, The Nevermore Bookstore, is a good place to start!

Mina and her three lovers, Morrie, Quoth, and Heathcliff are still coming across murders and solving them. I absolutely love this series and all of the characters.
Such an entertaining series! While I liked the mystery of the first book more, I loved the direction these characters are going towards and the way their relationship is growing.
Onto book 3!
Of Mice and Murder is book two of an entertaining murder mystery and steamy romance series that centers around the Nevermore Book Shop. The quirky cast of characters features three male characters who have been plucked from the pages of novels into the real world and the young woman whose life is curiously bound up with them. Mina, with assistance from Morrie, Quoth, and a reluctant Heathcliff, solve murders and try to figure out their own complicated romantic relationships. The writing is great and the unpredictable plot had me guessing all the way through.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Overall rating: 4.7 (ku)
Book two of this series is spot on and has kept up the mystery and intrigue that has me yearning. The creation of the book club is brilliant. It has been a major concern in our reality for years and makes us wonder if human beings will ever thrive with common sense anymore. Finding pleasure in reading books that challenges your intellect should never be in jeopardy, Anyways, love this authors creativity and happily awaiting book 3. All my reviews are always voluntarily written.
Of Mice and Murder by Steffanie Holmes is book 2 in the Nevermore Bookshop Mysteries Series. This continues the story of Wilhelmina ‘Mina’ Wilde. You really should read the previous book, ‘A Dead and Stormy Night’ first before reading this one. Mina is still dealing with the possibility of loosing her site, her feeling for Morrie, Heathcliff and Quoth who live above the books store she runs. Mina has already step into a passionate encounter with Morrie who is telling her to look into going into doing something with Heathcliff but she also is having feeling for the mysterious raven shifter, Quoth….whats a girl to do? When she allows the Banned Book Club to use one of the books stores rooms, it leads to murder. So a new mystery is on for Mina and the boys to find out about. So enjoying this series! Can’t wait for the next installment.
Is this bookstore attracting murders…
Another murder in the store has Mina and her guys investigating the small town residents. Mina also gets a lot more “friendly” with Morrie, Heathcliff, and Quoth. And who wouldn’t be infatuated with these characters. The overall mystery is still sort of vague, but we get a few clues. I really like that the murders are wrapped up in each book, yet there is an overarching plot line too. This suspenseful romance is a intriguing read.
