I’ve always heard, don’t fall in love with a cowboy. I should have listened. I’ve sworn off men. They’ve never given me much in life, except a bun in the oven and grief. My kids are my life and all that truly matter. Until him. Jansen Reed is a living fantasy straight from the old west. Sexy drawl, tight jeans and that glint in his eyes that makes my knees weak. He promises me the ride of my life. tight jeans and that glint in his eyes that makes my knees weak.
He promises me the ride of my life.
And serves it up—on the kitchen table.
Something about Jansen makes me want to believe in fairytales again.
But, I’m not the kind of girl who gets a happy ending.
Never have been.
There will come a day when my cowboy will ride away, leaving me shattered.
I’ve accepted it and eventually I’ll make him realize it, too.
Too bad I can’t convince my kids….
You thought you knew this family, but boy are you in for a surprise. Travel back in time with the Lucas family and discover that these kids are just like their mother when it comes to matchmaking.
Can be read as a complete standalone book. Happy Ever After guaranteed.

I have read almost every book that Jordan Marie has written, but I confess that I haven’t read The Lucas brothers series yet and now they are very high on my TBR pile.
Ida Sue Lucas hasn’t had luck with men. She has swore of men because they always leave and has left her alone with 9 kids.
Jansen is a Cowboy that passing through and looking for a job. He also hasn’t had luck with women.
Loved this book so much. Love everything about this book, but mostly I loved the Kids and the relationship each one of them had with Jansen, even the two in College.
Ida Sue is a strong woman that works very hard for her kids and very independent and also very stubborn.
Good storyline that had me laughing at times.
I loved Ida Sue in all of the other Lucas Brother’s books and this one made me love her even more! From all of the heartbreaking things she has been through, to finding her forever love with Jansen. It was more raw than I expected, and that made it even better. I could not put it down. As always with all of Jordan’s books, I felt like I was right there with them. I laughed, I cried, I wanted to scream at times. Definitely recommend this one, along with all the other Lucas Brother books. Loved loved loved it!!!
This book was more than I hoped for Ida Sue is a woman that we all strive to be. Through every sacrifice she has made is was all done in the the good of her kids an she prevailed no matter what she had to go through. Jordan always weaves a tale that pulls you in with no sign of letting go and you feel as if each and every character she writes is you or someone you know who is going through the same thing. Jansen is a man determined and set in his ways but his ways are extraordinary an are nothing short of a man will to risk it all for the woman he loves. I love this book something SPECTACULAR and I’m willing to bet you will too definitely PICK THIS UP!!!!
I loved loved this book!!! I have been a huge Ida Sue fan ever since being introduced to her in The Perfect Stroke (Gray’s book) I had hoped that we would get the story on how Jansen and Ida Sue met….it was so worth the wait. We get to learn about Ida Sue and how she would do anything for the people she cares for and loves. Jansen is a determined man and when Ida Sue catches his eye he will do whatever is necessary to make her his. Their story made me laugh, swoon, fan myself, and cry. Their journey to their happy wasn’t easy but it was real and we see that love does conquer all. I knew for absolute certainty that their book would be good but its beyond that its phenomenal. I highly recommend this book to all….its a damn good story. I can’t wait to read what this talented author comes out with next….well done!!!!
“I don’t know who Jansen Reed thinks he is, but I’m pretty sure he’s the reason God gave me the middle finger.”
The hard-as-nails, zany, no-holds-barred, tell-it-like-it-is matriarch of the Lucas Family finally gets her story…and we find out how she and Jansen came to be. She has been a joy to read throughout the series, and even though we are going way back in time in this story, it did not change my sheer glee in reading the banter between her and Jansen, as well as the banter between all of them. I laughed out loud for so long and hard at one point, my dog wouldn’t even sit with me anymore. This series has made my mood improve tenfold with each one I’ve devoured.
“Her smile lives in my head and when I close my eyes…it’s there. Smiling Bright. For me.”
Not all fun and games, the balance between heat and sweet was perfectly executed where I found myself tearing up, and other times grinning big…I just loved these two so hard. Ida Sue and Jansen were dragging along skeletons from the past, and I loved seeing their defenses lower and succumb to the attraction you could feel tangibly. This one lent insight to the whole gang and answered a whole lot of questions that didn’t come up in prior reads, which I loved. There are not many, if any characters out there quite like Ida Sue, which is why she steals the show in this one. I thank the Author for providing a copy to review.
“Where have you been all my life?” she asks. “Looking for you.” She may not know it, but that’s the God’s honest truth. She’s the answer to every question, to every prayer, to every wish.

I LOVED Ida Sue and Jansen’s book!
I have always thought Ida Sue as quirky, and hilarious but seeing what she went through, I love her even more than I did before. I loved seeing Ida Sue and Jansen from the start and seeing the Lucas kids when they were younger. We get to see them grow into amazing men and women throughout this series.
Jansen is an amazing man. A man who deserves a good woman. Not only is Jansen good to Ida Sue but also her 9 children. Children who look up to and respect him almost immediately after he shows up on the farm.
I absolutely love the Lucas family!! I can’t wait for more of the Lucas’s!!
Good Men do exist people…This is not a drill.
Thank the Lord for Men like Jansen Reed. The kind with old fashioned values who knows exactly how to treat his lady.
This book just left me with the biggest smile on my face, Ida Sue and Jansen have always been an integral part of the Lucas Brothers series. They’re the foundation the glue that keeps the whole family together.
From the beginning it was always on my mind as to how they got together and what their history was.
Knocking Boots gave me exactly what I wanted Ida Sue and Jansen, their story their legacy and it’s only cemented my love for them even more.
This series is a special one for me and one I’m sure everyone will enjoy.
Full of family drama, love, laughs and second chances.
It’s a unique and crazy series with a family you’d feel lucky to be a part of.
You’ve never met a character quite like Ida Sue but you need to. I have massive respect and admiration for this woman.
Here’s to more fun from the Lucas clan. I’m more than ready for my next fix.
I can honestly say I loved everything about this story, this author never fails to entertain her readers from the first page to the last.
This is the love story of Jansen Reed and Ida Sue Lucas. That’s it! I’m not giving away any more!
The humour once again is outstanding, there are so many hilarious moments, expressions and sayings you truly end up laughing out loud. For example in this scene with the gift Cyan and Petal make for Jansen from Ida Sue..very funny.. although it’s appropriate and cute, I don’t know if I will ever be able to think or look at a butterfly again the same! And this.. ‘…as crazy as a Bessie bug’ and “You’re about as smart as a screen door on a submarine yourself, then.”
Ida Sue describes Jansen as ‘Sex on a stick!’ And let me tell you she’s right! The chemistry between the two lead characters is extremely combustible however their relationship goes much, much deeper. Both are characters that are easy to relate to and like, Ida Sue is such a crack up but we learn her background and see so much more.
This is a fast paced story and so easy to read..I was satisfied with the story as a reader when it ended, but, but.. I could have read on and on!
I could go on and on about this story but I won’t. If you enjoy romantic comedy then you’ll like this without a doubt.
Loved this book so much!! I knew I would love this book because I so want to be Ida Sue when I grow up! I was surprised by this book though. It was so real! I loved getting to know Ida Sue and Jansen better and learning what makes her tick. Every time I read one of Jordans books I say it’s my favorite but this one is going to be a paperback purchase put on my shelf. It was funny and emotional and I loved it! It’s a definite 5 star read and I’d give it more if I could! Great job Jordan
OH!!!
MY!!!
GOD!!!
This book freaking ROCKS!!!!
This is Ida Sue and Jansen’s story and I am so in love with it!!! To learn what made Ida Sue the woman we have all come to know and love, GAH!!! And to meet the kids when they were kids was, at times, hilarious. And Jansen, all have to say is I FREAKING NEED A MAN LIKE HIM!!!
I loved this book from start to finish!!!
I fell in love with Ida Sue when I first met her in The Perfect Stroke. And since then I have been entranced with what comes out of her mouth. She is an absolute hoot! She’s also my idol. For those of you know who she is you’ll understand that but for those that have not met Ida Sue? Well you need to. Everyone needs an Ida Sue in their lives.
Ida Sue, single mom to nine kids. Yes you read that correctly, 9 kids! A more kickass heroine I’ve yet to meet this lady is the bomb. All shes ever wanted is to belong, to know that she mattered. She thought she’d finally found that with Orville but then that was taken away from her. But Ida Sue is not one to let this get her down. A hardworking woman who loves her kids to death. When I think about it maybe life happens for a reason and the bad shit you have to endure along the way was leading her straight to Jansen.
Jansen Reed knows heartache and losing what he thought was his forever. Drifting from town to town he pretty much thought he’d never get a second chance at forever. But upon meeting Ida Sue that’s all about to change. This woman, her plain speaking and her attitude of never letting things weigh her down has him captivated. That is when she’s not being a bitch to him. lol.
Throw in her kids and OMG I’m dying here. I want to be their neighbor. And hell if I had kids I’d want them hanging with these ones.
This story alternates with laughter so loud that you can’t catch your breath and then Jordan throws in those moments that have you crying.
These characters are addictive. I read it one sitting and I the only thing I could say bad about it is that it ended. That’s it. The story was a page turner and it never stopped moving.
Jordan never lets a reader down. Her ability to create characters that you fall in love with is second to none. Get ready to have Jansen rock your world!
Ive always thought of Ida Sue as quirky and weird but after this book she’s my new hero. I can’t imagine what all she went through getting pregnant so young parents being douches and all that. And I can’t even imagine living in a town like Mason I’d end up on Snapped lol. Jansen is the perfect counterpart to Ida Sue and there relationship kept me on my toes. I really enjoyed this book!!!
I absolutely loved Knocking Boots by Jordan Marie! Ida Sue and Jansen’s back story is so raw and developed. The Lucas kids antics are hilarious. This story has it all! Not only is this book a must read, it’s a must re-read!
