Even though this is the second book in a series, I had no issues keeping up with it. And this is well thought out and well written. This is a very original concept, of showing how Arri can heal – there are many books in the fantasy realm that have healers, but the descriptive way the author brings these healing powers to the reader is very fascinating and so well done.
Arri – a light fairy/merperson needs to save her king, and to do that, she must venture out from the gates that seals off the lands and it’s a dangerous journey that she must take. Treves is a manticore whose job is a jeweler, and he must embark on dangerous missions to find the gems.
A lot of danger and action, and a good heaping spoon of sexy times, this is a page turner, and not one to miss. The use of some mythical creatures we don’t read about much is refreshing and the characters are easy to like
DIOMERE’S HEALER is the second book in THE GATE KEEPER CHRONICLES by Sabrina A. Fish, the first book being DIOMERE’s EXILE.
The story centers on light fairy Arriana “Arri” Quinones, who is literally the magical royal healer to, and sister of, Lareina, the regent queen of Diomere, the central island in the “a’mi,” or magical, world of Saimond. That world is connected to the human world of Mondami by five gates (for readers who’d like to delve into such geographic details, there are maps on http://www.sabriaafish.com). Healer Arri must, for the first time in her life, travel through one of the gates to retrieve an antidote’s ingredient only found in Mondami, or a poison will take her nephew Reis’s life back on Saimond.
Fish’s worlds are complex, but also consistent and seemingly well thought out. It may seem like a Young Adult novel at first, but don’t be fooled – the sex gets more and more graphic as the story goes on, especially in dreamsharing scenes.
It’s possible the initial creativity was laid out with the polish shown throughout, but it’s more likely the result of painstaking layered revision and editing by the author, since the writing is incredibly accurate. The glossary of names in front is useful, especially for readers who haven’t read the first book in the series.
Readers who like David Baldacci’s VEGA JANE Series should also enjoy DIOMERE’S HEALER.
DIOMERE’S HEALER is the second book in the Gate Keeper Chronicles, and we travel with Arri as she tries to find the elusive plant that will heal her nephew from the same deadly curse that killed his father.
Oh my, there are so many fantastic characters in this book, and I want to hear more from ALL of them!!! I’m not quite sure how Ms. Fish is going to accomplish that, but still. Although this was Treves and Arri’s book, I absolutely adored the verbal interplay between Kardia and Kristiano. I think Kardia’s book is next, and I’m already wanting it! It’s going to be a long, hard wait for me, I think!
As per the first book, the writing style is easy to read, and the pace flows smoothly. I was happy to see a cameo from Nadia and Gregor, with a snapshot of how they are now. Full of emotions, I found this book to be a perfect addition to the series, and I have no hesitation in highly recommending it.
Bring on the next!!!
