Raising teens is hard enough on it’s own but as a single parent adding their own complications it’s been. . . well it’s complicated. Wendy has been running from a past, not physically but emotionally. Well it’s time for her to stop running and face her fears and time for him to let go of his need to control. This was a heartwarming read from this author who loves to twist us up in our emotions and make it all better at the end. It’s a feel good type of read where healing hearts and hands come together over a common goal and find they have something more.
4 Star Review of Finding Her Forever Family by Traci Douglas
Just because Wendy Smith is a trauma nurse, it doesn’t mean that she has come to terms with the fact that her mother died from Huntington’s, a hereditary disease she is terrified she may also have.
Wendy is determined to keep to herself and avoid involvements at any cost. Being attracted to hot
single dad Dr. Tom Faber is something she doesn’t want to even contemplate.
However she doesn’t count on the relationship which develops between her and his daughter.
The chemistry between Wendy and Tom is intense and despite her fears, she slowly falls harder for the doctor and his daughter.
Can Tom help Wendy face her fears and finally have the test which will tell her once and for all if she wins arise of Huntington’s? Will two lost souls be able to create a future and a family together?
Finding Her Forever Family is a sweet, romantic story which at times was an emotional roller coaster.
FINDING HER FOREVER FAMILY by Traci Douglass is a Harlequin contemporary medical romance set in the same Alaskan hospital as this author’s previous medical romance, One Night with the Army Doc. This is an extremely emotional romance with an O.B. doctor, single dad and an E.R. trauma nurse with the unresolved fear of a hereditary disease hanging over her head.
Wendy Smith is an exceptional trauma nurse in the E.R. Even though she faces other people’s traumas every day, she is still unwilling to face the results of her test for the hereditary Huntington’s mutation. She watched her vibrant mother die at a young age and refuses to risk passing the disease on so she has built a wall around her heart and never becomes involved in relationships for more than one night stands.
Dr. Tom Faber is the O.B. doctor on call when Wendy’s sister-in-law delivers her twins. Besides long hours at the hospital, Tom has recently received custody of his twelve year old daughter after the death of his ex-wife. They are both struggling to connect. When he finds out Wendy has been helping with his daughter’s counseling and has a connection with her, he asks for her help without violating their privacy. Wendy agrees to help knowing how hard it is to lose a parent at that age.
Wendy and Tom are instantly attracted to each other and each have reasons to take it slower, but they just cannot stay away from each other. Wendy wants to help this perfectionist doctor learn to accept that not everything can be planned and perfect, especially in his relationship with his daughter. Tom wants to help Wendy face her fear of her test results and have a real relationship with her. Will they be able to move forward past their individual fears and come together as a family?
I found Wendy and Tom’s romance well written, but too short. I feel the issues they were both dealing with deserved a more in-depth story. This author did a very good job though of taking several heavy issues and fitting them into this shorter format. The sex scenes are explicit, but short and not gratuitous. This is an easy-to-read, heartwarming story with interesting characters that keeps you emotionally involved throughout.

This is such a beautiful story, MS Douglass has taken me back to Alaska, visiting Anchorage Mercy Hospital again, this time for ER nurse Wendy Smith’s story and what a treasured moving and emotional story it is beautiful people who find their HEA, once you pick this one up you won’t want to put it down.
Wendy Smith loves her job and works hard and long hours because for her there is never going to be a husband and family she has a lot hanging over her head a hereditary illness that could take her away like her Mum, and she doesn’t want to know the results of her test, just enjoying her family and friends that is until Dr Tom Farber and his daughter arrive on the scene and Wendy is losing her heart in such a good way.
Tom Farber has now got the sole custody of his daughter Sam and things are a little rough between them, the more he tries with her the harder it gets that is until beautiful Wendy Smith steps in and becomes friends with Sam. Tom knows about the family medical issue with Wendy and still falls for her but it takes a bit to convince her of the fact that he wants to be with her no matter what.
I truly loved this story from page one, it is so well written, the emotions flying of the pages the characters come to life and I felt their pain and hurt and the love that finally flows through them all. This is one that I would highly recommend, MS Douglass you never disappoint me with one of your stories thank you for the sighs and smiles.
This is a sweet, happily ever after story with just the right amount of drama tossed in. She’s convinced she’ll die a horrible death, he’s a hot new doctor with a troubled daughter. Can they overcome their hurts and fears together?
A well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. This one was about a disease that takes a person and how the rest of the family deals with results. Wendy being an ER trauma nurse deals with many situations and came in handy as her sister gives birth to twins. In steps Dr. Tom Farber an obstetrics in case of any problem. Tom and Wendy brings the story together along with his daughter Sam.
Finding her Forever Family is a stellar medical romance. Heartbreaking? YES. Heartwarming? YES.
The story set in a hospital is about nurse Wendy Smith and Dr. Tom Faber and is an unexpected twist on a love story. Wendy lost her mother to a hereditary disease at a young age and that has formed who she is as a woman. She has sworn off love as she doesn’t want to leave a family the way her mother left her.
Dr. Tom (as I like to call him in my head) has gotten custody of his 12 year old daughter after her mom overdoses.
This book deals with heavy issues but the author seamlessly intertwines them with a love story you won’t soon forget.
The characters are memorable and the plot complex. This story will leave you remembering these people. I did not want this book to end. Highly recommend it!
You would think being a trauma nurse would enable you to cope with all illnesses but Wendy Smith coping with the possibility she is destined to contract the hereditary Huntington’s disease is something she will never come to terms with, all she does is care for others she will not get involved with any man but facing single dad Dr Tom Faber every day is making her life extremely difficult.
The attraction was instant and the chemistry sizzling and as the story unfolds so does Wendy’s relationship with not only Tom but his adorable daughter as well but falling is one thing having a lasting relationship is another, can Tom finally convince Wendy to have the test that could seal her fate or give her the happiness she so deserves…….
A sweet romantic story with a few twists and turns along the way as we join Wendy and Tom’s road to their HEA. I enjoyed this read and I’m looking forward to more from this author .

The story about nurse Wendy Smith, and Dr. Tom Faber is a touching, sweet, at times heartbreaking but also heartwarming story.
Wendy lost her mother to a devastating disease at a young age. A disease that is hereditary and has molded the woman she is today.
Tom has just gotten custody of his twelve year old daughter after his ex overdoses. Sam only heard bad things about her dad and not only has she lost her mom, but she’s been uprooted from everything she knew. to live with a father she doesn’t know.
Will the three of them take a chance at opening their hearts and finding hope and love, or will fear make them miss the best things of life?
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
A lovely short read that dealt with a fairly serious topic in a light and digestible way. I have always enjoyed this sub-genre of romance, and this author’s style of writing is easy to read. It was a light, fluffy and predictable book but no less enjoyable for those facts!
Finding Her Forever Family by Traci Douglass
This was my first book by this author and it won’t be my last. Wendy Smith is an ER trama nurse who lost her mom at a young age to a hereditary disease. That death changed her outlook on life, causing her to completely close herself off to the possibility of love and a family of her own. She stands on the sidelines and watches as life passes her by day after day. That is until Dr. Tom Farber comes wrecking havoc on her hormones and her heart.
Dr. Tom Farber is struggling to connect with his daughter after her mother died and is trying everything to get her to open up with no avail. That is until Wendy started meeting with her.
The more he sees his daughter with Wendy and his interaction with her at work the more he is drawn to her. Their chemistry is obvious to everyone but they won’t admit it to each other and keep playing cat and mouse. Will they wait too long and love pass them by because they are too stubborn?
