The #1 New York Times–bestselling author of Airport reveals the inner workings of a New Orleans hotel—and the human drama unfolding behind its closed doors. During five sultry days, the lives of the guests, the management, and the workers at New Orleans’ largest and most elite hotel converge. The owner has four days to raise the money to save his financially ailing property. The general manager, … ailing property. The general manager, once blacklisted from the hospitality business, struggles with one crisis after another. A rebellious heiress will do anything to attain her secret desires. The duke and the duchess in the lavish presidential suite are covering up a crime. And within one of the many guest rooms hides a professional thief.
Filled with memorable characters and authentic detail about the inner machinery and secrets of a five-star hotel, this gripping New York Times bestseller sold millions of copies and was adapted for both film and TV. Set in a time when travel was still glamorous and grand independent hotels set the standard for luxury, it’s a read like a vacation in itself, from the author of such behind-the-scenes blockbusters as The Moneychangers and Wheels.

This book was just as entertaining as it was the first time I read it when it first came out many years ago. In fact, I couldn’t put it down! Would highly recommend it.
Really good read. It is dated but recalls some of the struggles of the era in which it was written. I wish there was a sequel
A great look into how a singly owned business operated before the takeover of boring, unimaginative chains began taking over. I am old enough to remember many of those family run businesses before personality was dulled by chains.
loved it, this is an old book that I read many years ago. I enjoyed reading this again
This was a revisit to a book I read and loved decades ago. The re read was just as enjoyable. I like Hailey’s easy to read style and he creates memorable, likeable characters.
This novel gave an inside view of the hotel business. The author did an amazing amount of research.
It felt like this man was sitting there with me telling this story. Every page was intertainment.and what a story he has to tell. Find out for yourself! You won’t be sorry!
IT is excellent
Very good. I’ve read it before and seen the Movie and enjoyed both!
A well-written fast action book. This book is one that a man or woman would like.
Couldn’t put it down! The characters and the plots just keep you turning the pages!
A true classic. I can understand how this inspired a TV series. Totally entertaining.
Great story. I read the sample and realized that I was familiar with everything, being from New Orleans. I was a little disappointed that some of the traveling via car in the city was not possible. Hence the 4 stars instead of five. Not sure if Haley actually traveled the routes.
Read this years ago but still found it entertaining and relevant upon rereading.
A classic. Gotta love Hailey!
Terrific details about the hotel industry in the 1960s. I thought it was fascinating.
super good read
Loved Hotel and his writing. Recommend…
A bit dated, (the language used about minorities you’d never see in a current book) and I figured out the “twist” about half way through, but an entertaining book. Had a bit of everything for everybody.
Like all of his books
