Thumbs up
Good easy read. The characters are quite real. The book deals with the scourge of gender based violence factually. The descriptions of the hurricane devastation were most interesting, and very informative. Highly recommend this book.
Michael Lister is always a good read.
Wow! The author took me through several chapters with descriptions that made me feel as though I was actually living what was happening. I could feel my blood pressure rising.
Lister books are always fast to intrigue and keep the pages turning. Good theme and character builds.
I LOVE this series and the author. His characters and plots are magnificent and every one is stand alone superior, but even better in the context of the series. I have quoted him to friends and one is currently reading. Thank you so much.
To describe the hurricane as you did I wondered if you had experienced one in real time. I survived hurricane Ike while living in Texas. Reading this book and describing the hurricane before, during and after was like being there. The story line was definitely a page turner and one you had to keep reading. The ending of finding the killer was a surprise as I did not guess this character. This book is one of the top three I have read so far this year. Keep writing and I will keep reading your books.
Love everything he does!
AT first I didn’t know if I would like this book, but as I kept reading I realized that I just couldn’t put it down! I started feeling like I was right there in Florida waiting for Hurricane Michael to hit. Wanting to know who would survive, how they would make it thru. It haunts you the way it describes the aftermath, the families pulling together, people coming in to help. Well written and worth the read.
A great book that brings Hurricane MIchael into the story. I read this very quickly and hated for it to end.
Inspector getting a call out, to check out a 911 about Father Andrew. Finding him on the floor in a fetal position, cuddling a large wooden cross, was disturbing, something was off. Asking people around the area that knew him, they saw him yesterday. He seemed like someone drunk, unsteady, slurred
speech. Symptoms of antifreeze poisoning, over a few days, he suffered, and now it is murder. A complex plot of twists and turns, you can follow the easy flowing dialog. Questions, what would someone have against him, or simply a killing to kill,.Along with the devastation that happened also, gave this story added meaning. Readers will be intrigue to figure out this latest mystery.
Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
This book is different from Michael Lister’s other books about John Jordan because he experienced the hurricane that he writes about in the book so he can incorporate his experience with John Jordan’s and write a fictional story partially based on his own experiences with the hurricane. However, John Jordan has to deal with a murder as well as the storm and still keep his family safe. The book includes the twists and turns you expect to find in a John Jordan novel but is much more personal. Once you stop reading you will find it very difficult to stop until you reach the end.
Fact or fiction?? This book describes what real people endured when Michael hit Florida . The fear, the courage, the insanity and the strength and compassion of people coming together to survive and rebuild what was torn apart. Few of us have ever experienced such a raw and brutal siege of nature. Lister draws out your emotions and opens your eyes to the possibilities ahead that could face anyone. Truly a great read!
