Here, Michael is a great artist. He takes a knife and destroys one of his best known paintings. Soon thereafter, he is kidnapped. But, no one knows it except for the Keeper – who is a spirit and can travel uninhibited and inhabit people’s minds. In an effort to help Michael, the Keeper seeks out a nun – who believes she hears the voice of God and a reporter.
This is a really good and intense paranormal thriller. It had me from the very beginning and it doesn’t let go. It is told completely from the point of view of The Keeper, which allows you to get into the thoughts of multiple characters but also allows you to interpret those thoughts/motivations through The Keeper’s looking glass. It was completely captivating. The action is non-stop with one twist after another. Highly recommend!!
I listened to this book – the narrator was fantastic and was such a compliment to the written word – elevating it to another level.

If you’re looking for a new voice in paranormal fiction, you’ve found one in T. F. Allen. The story in The Keeper is as haunting as that stunning cover. Is he a protector or a killer? Is he man or ghost (or perhaps some dark form of angel)? The author writes on the edge of paranormal, bringing the genre a refreshing return to real suspense (as opposed to overwrought otherworldly creations). Caution: Don’t read this in a dark room.

This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it. This is a creative well written story that left me sitting on the edge of my seat through part of it. The characters made the story realistic. They are strong characters that support each other. I will be happily looking for more from this author. I highly recommend this book.

Anytime my husband hears me gasp out loud and yell at a book, he knows it’s a book I’ll want to send his way.
I feel he, and most readers who love bother thrillers and supernatural stories, will love THE KEEPER. Like Allen’s THE NIGHT JANITOR, it contains charming characters and a plot just outside the world we know.
While I love a formulaic mystery, the main quintet of characters is *very* similar to NIGHT JANITOR. It just makes me excited to see what Allen does next!

So there are plenty of wonderful things to say about this audiobook ranging from the unique character POV to the wonderfully suspenseful plot and the in-depth characters.
The Keeper’s role in life, as far as he can tell, is to watch over a young up and coming artist named Michael. The Keeper doesn’t know what he really is, but for his entire existence, he has made sure that Michael is safe. When Michael is suddenly kidnapped and taken hostage by a jealous artist, The Keeper embarks on a mission to influence people to come to Michael’s rescue. It’s this move that leads him to the truth of who he really is.
As I noted, I adored this audiobook. For some reason, the Keeper reminded me of Castiel from Supernatural and from there I was hooked. This book has all the wonderful things needed for a psychological thriller and even has an unlikely rescue duo of a Wiccan reporter and an elderly Nun.
This book will not disappoint.
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

This is a unique story mixing a thriller with supernatural elements. We learn as the book progresses that the tragic beginning of an artist life has brought forth a presence that is with him constantly. We are given to believe it is a “guardian angel.” He has given the presence the name of Keeper!
The reader learns more as the artist is kidnapped by a narcissistic serial killer with his own voices in his head! Central to this story are two women who set out to recuse the artist. A nun who believes the presence in her head is the voice of God and a journalist who feels it’s the Universes power. You see the Keeper finds out that it can enter others minds and share images, impressions and it’s thoughts.
The author brings this all together in an engaging, entertaining story that worked for me. In the end we find out who the Keeper really is and why he feels so protective of the artist!

This is a ghost story …. told by the ghost. But is he really a ghost? Could he be an angel sent to watch over Michael, a famous artist who was kidnapped after he destroyed his most famous painting.
The keeper, alone, knows where Michael was taken and he must use his abilities to convince two women to look for him. One is is reporter who thinks her visions are signs and the other is a nun who thinks she hears the voice of God.
Book Blurb: Together they close in on the kidnapper–a psychotic killer who also hears a voice inside his head, pushing him toward murder. But once the Keeper learns the tragic reason he feels so connected to Michael, is it too late to save him?
This was an intriguing story… very unique in that the story is told through the ghost. There’s a lot of action, many twists and turns leading to a very satisfactory ending. A bit different from my preferred genre, this held my interest from the very beginning, through the suspenseful middle, to the very last page.
Many thanks to the author / Netgalley for the digital copy of this paranormal thriller. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

I thought I had created a clever investigative team when I paired together a U.S. District Court judge, Cyrus Brooks, and a homicide investigator, Frank Lotello.
In what might be described as a suspense thriller, with, ala Stephen King, just a hint of the supernatural, T.F. Allen, has created in The Keeper an even more imaginative investigative team, this one a sister (spelled n-u-n), an investigative journalist, she an outright atheist but somewhat inconsistently a firm believer in (her own) “Universe,” and their mysterious behind-the-scenes supernatural sidekick identified by Mr. Allen as . . . a “keeper.”
Each imbued with their own (cerebral) baggage, this unusual combine sets off on a quixotic journey to save a kidnapped member of the sister’s flock, a world class painter with his own lot in life who, only hours before his kidnapping, travels to a museum half-way across the country in order to inexplicably and viciously mutilate his most famous ever painting, Jolene (think The Mona Lisa), worth tens of millions of dollars, a portrait of the love of his life, whom he had observed from (not so) afar, but to whom he had never spoken prior to her mysterious disappearance seven years earlier. If that were not enough . . . (sorry, no spoilers here).
Mr. Allen has written a highly unusual, clever, and satisfying debut thriller novel that will appeal to all, even those not inclined to accept the powers of . . . The Keeper.
