Everyone knows they belong together…except them.Daphne Davidson has a problem. She broke up with her boyfriend a month ago and she still hasn’t found a date to her sister’s upcoming wedding. If she goes solo, she’ll be inundated with sly comments about how she can’t keep a man. They aren’t wrong. She can’t keep a man because she’s never dated the one she really loves–her best friend, Jack … friend, Jack Reese.
Detective Jack Reese has been secretly in love with Daphne since he knew what love was. Yet she’s never shown any interest in him and he decided being friends was better than nothing. When he finds out that she’s diving into the pit of vipers she calls a family, he’s determined to protect her. Going undercover as Daphne’s date means holding her hand, kissing her lips, and pretending to be in love. The latter part isn’t hard. What’s tough is resisting the urge to claim her.

Meh… This one was an okay story to read to waste away the cold day.
Daphne and Jack have been in love with each other forever. And while everyone else around them can see if, apparently these two are so good at hiding these feelings from each other…(yet one is a detective and the other a lawyer).
Jack describes Daphne as the perfect woman because she beautiful, strong and doesn’t allow people to walk all over her. Yet…that’s exactly what happens with her family. I’m sorry, the woman in 30 years old and has been dealing with her family treating her like a second-class citizen. I’d say it’s time to cut the strings and give it up baby girl.
While this is a short novella I still would’ve liked to get a better glimpse at Jack and his family life. We know all about Daphne and how they think she’ll die an old spinster and that Jack is too good for her. But what about his family? Do they see this “love” between these two characters everyone else can?
I liked that Daphne and Jack both had feelings for each other but didn’t want to ruin their friendship. Jack was there for Daphne when her family was awful and I liked that’s how they discovered each others feelings. I thought it was a sweet friends to lovers book.
This was a short, sweet and read.
Daphne and Jack definitely do belong together; they’ll just be the last ones to figure that out. It was a last minute read — a #BookSister Recommended — and, like always, it was worth it.
Not the first time reading Ella Goode and will for sure be checking out her stuff in the future.
Daphne, a successful lawyer, and Jack, a detective, knew each other since they were kids, and has been the best of friends ever since.
Daphne needed a date to her sister’s wedding, an event she dreads because she knew she that will be ridiculed for not having a man of her own. Jack steps in, offering to be her date. Little did she know that Jack has been in love with her from the start, and her sister’s wedding becomes the perfect venue for them to finally face the fact that the love they were looking for was right there within their grasp.
Ella Goode makes a convincing play of the best friends to lovers story with Make Me Yours. The fact that it was a short read with a fast-paced plot was even welcome, because, as a reader, I wanted to climb into the book and bash Daphne and Jack’s heads together for wasting all these years only to realize that they were in fact made for each other!
I guess I can say, this story was an ‘Ella Goode one!
This was my first dual virgin story and I really enjoyed the characters along with the friendship they have had for years.
Daphne needs a date to her sisters wedding so that she doesn’t look like a spinster in front of her whole family. Problem is she broke up with her boyfriend a month ago. The only person she can think of to take is Jack. And they have been friend since they were kids and she knows he may go with her. Now to convince him he has to go.
Detective Jack Reese has been in love with Daphne since they were kids and when she asks him to go to her sisters wedding as her date he can’t resist spending time with her. She has never shown him even an inkling that she feels the same way he does but maybe she will see what a great catch he is. He knows what a joke her “family” is and he takes the chance to go undercover as her date.
Daphne and Jack show up to the wedding and of course no one believes that they are dating. So of course they do everything they can to make sure that people know she isn’t single. I have to say that her sister is absolutely ridiculously mean to her and her family isn’t that much better!! I rooted for her the whole time and was so satisfied when her and Jack were able to show them what was really happening.
These two were the cutest couple and I am so glad that I read this beauty!! And this should totally be a movie like the 40 year old virgin but TIMES TWO ten years younger. Yeah I would totally watch that!!
I am really hoping that there is going to be a sequel for these two!! They waited FORFREAKINGEVER to get this thing going now I want more!!
Thank you so much to Ella for the free review copy in exchange for my honest opinion!
I love a dual virgin story.
Too many stories out there with the typical manwhore H and virgin h. I really get into the dual virgin stories or even celebate H/h stories and this one was fantastic. What made it better was that the H/h have been best friends since they were kids. I love this trope as long as one doesn’t pine away for the other and have to watch them screw everything within a 20 mile radius (Yuk).
-dual virgins
-no cheating
-h’s family was horrible
-dual POV
-no abuse (well, maybe some verbal abuse towards h by her horrid family
-loved how they loved each other.
The only downside to this one was no epilogue. Otherwise, it was a great read.
nice build up great read
Short, sweet, and well balanced for a shorter length. Perfect love! Did I mention sweet?
