After four years with her boyfriend, Cadie McCaffrey is thinking of ending things. Convinced Will doesn’t love her in the “forever” way she loves him, Cadie believes it’s time for her to let him go before life passes her by. When a misunderstanding leads to a mistake, leaving her hurt, disappointed, and full of regret, she finally sends him packing. But for Will, the end of their relationship is … relationship is only the beginning of his quest to figure out how to be the man Cadie wanted him to be. With the dubious guidance of his former pro-athlete work friends and tactics drawn from Cadie’s favorite romantic comedies, Will attempts to win her back. It’s a foolproof plan. What could possibly go wrong?

Wow, wow, WOW! I’m speechless, in the best way! This book is beyond amazing! Since finally getting around to reading The Secret Life of Sarah Hollenbeck last year (which I LOVED by the way!) I have been eagerly anticipating Bethany Turner’s next book! Needless to say my expectations were sky high, and this amazing book surpassed them all and completely raised the bar to a whole new level! I loved Cadie and Will immediately, by the time I finished the prologue I was already rooting for them with everything in me. I was totally engrossed in their story and I hated to stop reading! This book completely enthralled me from start to finish, it made me laugh aloud so many times, and I couldn’t stop smiling while I was reading it! I said it in my review of TSLOSH and the same goes for WOOCAM, Bethany Turner’s stories are happiness in book form! I loved every moment of this book so much, and it left me itching to binge watch all the awesome rom-com movies that I haven’t yet seen. I could seriously go on gushing forever, but to avoid the risk of spoiling anything I will just say that I absolutely LOVED this book and will definitely be rereading both it and TSLOSH many times in the future! Wooing Cadie McCaffrey is definitely a MUST READ for all fans of Christian rom-com!
Oh, and just in case you haven’t already guessed I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it and am excitedly awaiting this author’s 2020 release!
I received an ebook copy of this book from the publisher which did not influence my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions are one hundred percent my own.
Wooing Cadie McCaffrey is Bethany Turner’s 2nd romantic comedy. Gotta say, I loved Will. Cadie, not so much. She was so focused on the “trappings” of romance that she missed the real romance Will was giving her. AND, so many of their problems could have been solved with a simple conversation! Grrr.
The “meet-cute” is very fun. Cadie works for a sports network and her coworkers throw her a 30th birthday party only to have it overshadowed by an appearance by Joe Montana. She’s left standing on her desk, holding her cake, with burning candles dripping into the icing. Will rescues both the girl and the cake and introduces himself as the new hire in research. Cadie is convinced that Will is her person, but after four years of dating, she has lost hope of a proposal. When Will wins a prestigious promotion and their celebration crosses the intimacy line they’ve held for four years, Cadie is over-the-top in both self-castigation mode and in Will avoidance mode.
Will has wanted to marry Cadie for at least two years. In fact, he asked her parents for permission to ask her, just like Cadie always romanticized about. He didn’t expect to be turned down because he wasn’t “successful” enough. He’s been working nonstop ever since, trying to prove his worth to her parents, but he’s also been neglecting the one person he should be paying attention to. When they cross the line and she dumps him, is there any hope for getting her back?
Hilarity ensues as Will tries to emulate the romantic movies Cadie loves with misfire after misfire. He tries everything he thinks she wants, only to have her slam doors in his face over and over. Will Cadie ever see how much he loves her, or will she only ever see her disappointment?
Like I said, I loved Will but Cadie was an entitled, whiny, not-very-likable girl who wouldn’t know real romance if it bit her. The only romance she thinks is legitimate is the kind she sees in the movies, but really, who lives like that? I cannot believe that in all the time they dated, they also never had the “relationship status” talk. All she would have had to say was, “Where do you see this relationship going?” and Will could have told her he’d had the ring for months, but her parents stopped his proposal in its tracks. Of course, there goes the rest of the book, too…
Overall, I liked the story but it was super frustrating. I actually listened to the audio version, which was very well done, and I can definitely recommend listening to it.
Romantic, sweet and funny! I love Bethany’s books, this is the third one of hers that I have finished. With no holds barred in this novel, two made for each other people struggle through a romance and wanting something more. Turner kept me thoroughly entertained and laughing out loud. I loved the theme of forgiveness and the ending!
