Banks Montgomery takes his job as youngest sheriff ever elected in Three Rivers very seriously; the residents of the small town are his family and he takes care of them accordingly. Along with his small horse breeding operation, he’s a man with a plan—one that doesn’t include the distraction of a woman, least of all one that turns up out of nowhere and isn’t what she seems. Pregnant and abandoned … and abandoned in Three Rivers, Norah Clarke needs to come up with a plan, and fast. Fortunately, she’s always been quick on her feet, and she and the town go way, way back. That doesn’t, however, prepare her for the town’s nosy (and devastatingly handsome) sheriff and all the surprising ways he makes her feel.
When the distraction Norah brings proves to have painful consequences, Banks will have to decide if his comfortable, predictable life is worth putting on the line for the sake of his heart.
**PLEASE NOTE: Lawful Heart does contain scenes of domestic violence and verbal abuse.**
This book is a part of the Hearts of Three Rivers: The Montgomerys series. Each book stands alone as a complete read, but features appearances from other family members who may have their own story to tell in a different book. Amity’s stories can best be described as ‘sweet western heat’, and contain open door bedroom scenes, but no frank language.

This was such a wonderful love story. I enjoyed it very much. The storyline was spot on and was well executed. I recommend it.

This is a heartwarming, romantic and sweet. Banks is a man who is dedicated to his town, his family and his ranch, so much so that he doesn’t have time in his life for anything or anyone else. Until Norah shows up in town, and he can’t resist the pull of attraction. Norah is tough and resilient, especially after her boyfriend abandons her when he finds out that she’s pregnant. Norah is welcomed to town by Banks and his entire family, and slowly falls in love with everything about Banks and the town. It’s not all smooth sailing, Banks can be his own worst enemy, and there’s the baby’s father to deal with. This is the first of the series that I have read and I can’t wait to read the rest.

I just love how fate intervened and Norah is ditched by her douche bag boyfriend in a town where not only does is the community like one big family but happens to be the small town her Aunt lives in and where she grew up in for a short time when she was little. Banks is the sheriff he is all abut keeping the community safe as well as looking after his family and horses which means he has no time for love. You will fall in love with Noarah and Banks as they work their way through seeing what real love looks like, the pitfalls of insecurities and finding out what is really important to them. This is the first book I have read in the series so have just grabbed Secret Heart: The Montgomerys #1 and Runaway Heart: The Baylors #1 so I can catch up on the series!
This book is a part of the Hearts of Three Rivers: The Montgomery’s series. This is a new Author for me I found the story to flow smoothly from page to page and the characters to be believable. This is Norah Clarke and sheriff Banks Montgomery’s story, of a man who thinks he does not have time for love because of all the responsibilities he believes he must do by himself. A very good story. A jump-in-the-deep-end beginning through to a climactic ending. This story is a well written novel, with a convoluted storyline that keeps the reader hooked from page one.
The characters are written to be realistic, charismatic and emotionally gripping. The twists and turns of a wonderful background supports an equally wonderful cast of characters. With intrigue and romance, this book ticks a lot of boxes for the lovers of romance.

Norah’s Clarke’s boyfriend was a piece of work when he abandoned her in Three Rivers at a bar after he found out she was pregnant and he roughed her up. She would have gone with him and who knows what he would have happened to her if Layla hadn’t scaring him off with a bad and continuing to protect her even after the loser came back. Sheriff Banks Montgomery was so sweet, offering her a place to stay and job and falling in love with her and her unborn baby. His dog Crash and new foal Sailor were so cute and they loved Norah too.
This is Norah and Banks story it is on the longer side with the author going deep into character development. It is a sweet story about a young woman who had been abused and then dumped into the small town that she had once lived in. Taken in by the Montgomery family she starts to see that people can be kind and good. Love kind of sneak up on them, but like all good stories there are twists and turns right up to the end when one big secret prize is revealed. It was a good book and it was a pleasure to read Three Rivers is a town you would love to visit. The author did an awesome job I highly recommend this book.
