I love a story that grips me early and Dark Consequences by Amanda Siegrist does just that.
Abby was a secretary for a criminal defense attorney in Minnesota, but she knew how to take care of herself. She had moved there with her best friend, Brandon. She was happy with her life, but there was one thing missing, her brother, Cooper. He was a psychopath who murdered people without compunction.
A cop in love with a woman who’s brother killed his sister. NOW…he was going to hunt him down and exact his own revenge.
It had been love at first sight for him and Abby. How could they have a future? Abby was afraid that Tate was going to kill her brother, because he had killed his sister and her goal was to stop him. Who would find Cooper first?
WOW. The twists and turns in the many layered chilling mystery kept me ‘flipping pages’ to the very end. The characters are not all good or all bad, complex yet loyal to the end, willing to sacrifice whatever necessary to get the job done.
The romance was hot and heavy between Abby and Tate and I love the addition of Stromberg…the three Musketeers.
I love a story that keeps on giving and I see more of Consequences to be dealt with in my future.
I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Dark Consequences by Amanda Siegrist.

Not what I was expecting at all. Full of emotion, mystery, lies, suspense, murder, and romance with some hot steamy scenes all rolled into one. Amanda has pulled it out of the bag with this one. This is my favourite Siegrist read to date, and I cannot wait for book 2 in the series.
The story flowed well and the pace was good. The 3 main characters, Tate, Abby, and Cooper, were great characters to get to know. The story was told from each of their perpective, which I loved. Not the typical hero/heroine, but I liked that.
Tate is a strong character, whose only weakness is Abby. I like the softer side to him. I enjoyed the humour between himself and Detective Stromberg. He is a very detemined and passionate man, and wants nothing more than to keep Abby safe, while seeking revenge for his sisters murder. Abby, is in a really rubbish situation between two people she loves the most in the world. She has balls though and I like that she made a lot of really tough calls. I do think that she brought trouble to the door a few times by her decisions, but I’m glad the author allowed her to explore these and for us to see the consequences of them. I really enjoyed getting to know Cooper, and finding out the reason for his actions. I would have really liked to have known more about his background, what choices led him to this life and what did that 2 women do to him. I just felt I didn’t get why he did it to them, but they would have to understand why he was doing it.
I quickly got into this book, it drew and kept my attention. I enjoyed all the twists and turns, especially at the end, which was unexpected.
Tate and Abby both come from rough pasts, but have worked hard to get past that and have a better life. Abby’s brother murdered Tate’s half-sister, and the beginning of the story starts with Tate going after him. The book is essentially a game of cat and mouse, but added in a romantic aspect into all the suspense. There were some twists that I did not see coming, especially towards the end! I was really torn on this book – I felt like I started it in the middle of the storyline and had no idea what had previously gone on but I wanted to know how things got to where they were! On the other hand, the suspense and intensity of this book was crazy good! The book tells us in the beginning who the killer is, but as the story goes on, gives us hints as to why, but also leaves us with questions as to why he started killing in the first place. So undecided!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Amanda Siegrist blows me away every time I read her stories. Whether they are the flash fictions to the Novels I adore. When I need a change of book genre, she is a great author to seek out. Dark Consequences pushed me out of my book funk. You will not get the same ol’ boy meets girl, boy sleeps with girl, boy breaks the girl’s heart, then we have a HEA…Nope you get the deep and gritty! Don’t worry there was heavy chemistry between Tate and Abby! The bounds of right or wrong are pushed to the limit. The pain the characters endure will infuse into your skin. I really enjoyed reading Dark Consequences. For my romance friends, if you are in the need of change in the book scenery, THIS IS YOUR NEXT READ!
Tate, a detective, has two things on his mind and heart. The first is hunting down the man that killed his sister. Second is the woman that stole his heart with a glance. What Tate didn’t expect was for the them to be connected. When he learns Abby’s brother and his sister’s killer are the same man, he struggles with what to do…either option will break his heart, Abby’s too.
Abby lost her heart to Tate so quickly she didn’t even realize he had it until he held the power to destroy her. Abby had no way of knowing talking to Tate about her brother would mean the end of them. And that’s the only outcome she can foresee. If Tate doesn’t get justice for his sister, which entails taking out her brother, then the guilt would eat him alive. If he does, that means Abby loses her brother, and her boyfriend would be the reason.
Tate can’t let the murderer go free, and Abby can’t let Tate kill her brother. They’re caught between justice and the heart, neither option one they can live with, but they have to…unless they get a miracle.
What happens when the person you know killed your sister is the brother of the woman of your dreams? Can Tate let go of his mission? Will Abby expect him to? How do you win in a lose-lose situation?
One-click now and follow along as two people, both knowing they’ve found their forever in the other, are faced with a dilemma no one should have to choose between. This plot was unique and the very idea of it just pulls on your heartstrings. Tate and Abby are stuck between two different types of love, that of true love and siblings. To choose a siblings will cost them their HEA; to fight for their soulmate breaks the brother/sister bond. I think the author did a great job conveying the struggle both Tate and Abby face .- By Elizabeth
Despite only knowing each other a few short months, Abby and Tate have fallen in love. But will that love be enough for Tate to stop his vengeance to kill his sister’s murder, Abby’s brother?
Amanda has done it again with a great plot & storyline! Both Tate & Abby are torn in figuring out what to do. The decisions they make will have consequences. Will their love survive the aftermath?

As a detective, Tate Powell has sworn to protect and serve but he can’t help wanting to kill the man that murdered his sister, even if that man turns out to be his girlfriend’s brother.
Abby Forrester grew up on the streets with only her big brother to keep her safe. Now that same big brother has become a monster. She knows it, even if she tries not to acknowledge it. When he kills the sister of the man she loves, she knows she must act. It’ll cost her everything but she can’t let Tate throw his life away by taking vigilante justice. Somehow she has to stop him from making the ultimate mistake.
Dark Consequences is just that, dark; much darker than previous works I’ve read of Ms. Siegrist’s. It was full of angst, suspense, and passion. Our main characters are all kinds of mixed up but one thing is for sure, they love each other, despite how messed up their respective backgrounds are. While the writing was good, this was not my favorite work of Ms. Siegrist’s. Unfortunately I never developed a relationship with the characters, finding them both to be needy and wishy-washy. I personally like my officers to be portrayed as rebellious but still upholders of the law, not vigilantes. I understand doing the wrong thing for the right reason but this didn’t feel like that. Tate wasn’t taking a criminal off the streets for the good of all mankind but rather doling out his own revenge. I did enjoy the push pull relationship with the other detective and was happy to see that relationship highlighted in upcoming books. Something to look forward to as this series grows!

Amazing romantic suspense story! Fast paced, and phenomenal story line. I love how the characters weren’t “perfect” they had agendas and didn’t care what they had to do or the “consequences” of achieving them. I also loved how the story ended, the whole time reading you’re wondering where the story will go, how can there possibly be a good outcome. Rest assured though, there is indeed a happily ever after.
What a great romantic suspense story! This is told by three different characters: Abby, Tate and Cooper. Tate is a detective who is on the search for justice and revenge for his sister’s murder. Abby’s brother Cooper is the killer and only she knows until she tells Tate. Now Tate is trying to find Cooper to kill him. Abby is trying to convince herself that Cooper isn’t that evil while trying to stop her boyfriend from killing him. Cooper is staying one step ahead leaving bodies behind him. This is a great edge of your seat, what’s going to happen next, suspense with that romantic aspect that readers crave. I couldn’t put this book down. I finished it in one day. It’s that good. I can suggest this book enough. It has something for all fans: mystery, suspense, raw emotion, sweet scenes, steamy scenes, a great story and plenty of surprises. You’ll be hooked just like I am after you read this. This is book one in the series. I can’t wait for more!
Detective Tate Powell meets Abby Forrester while investigating a series of murders, one of which is his sister. When Abby discovers who the killer is and tells the detective, Tate makes it his mission to take the killer out, even though it may cost him his relationship with Abby.
This books is full of suspense that leaves you on the edge of your seat until the end.
Amanda Siegrist excels at writing romantic suspense stories that keep us guessing until the very end. She combines secrets, lies and intrigue with strong women and the men who love and protect them. Her latest book, “Dark Consequences”, features Tate and Abby, a young couple surrounded by mystery and danger.
Tate is a dedicated Homicide detective who works diligently to solve his cases in order to keep his community safe. Abby was attracted to Tate from the moment they first met and she couldn’t help falling in love with him. Their connection was immediate and it seemed as if they had know each other forever. Tate was crazy about Abby too, but his mind was always on his unsolved cases, especially his latest case which involved the death of his beloved sister, Tara. He was heartbroken and would do anything to track down her killer, no matter what it took; until Abby confided in him that she suspected that her brother, Cooper, had killed his sister. Abby was brave enough to defy her brother and tell Tate the truth because Tate was her future and she couldn’t live without him. Anger tore through Tate’s body, and the urge to kill Cooper was overwhelming. He would have to choose between Abby’s love and his sister’s memory, and he needed to make a decision soon before it was too late and he lost not only his career, but the woman who made him complete.
Loved this book! An intense, action-packed page turner that kept me hooked from beginning to end! Loved Detective Tate Powell!
Highly recommend!
Hot damn this has got to be my absolute favorite from this author. The book starts off telling you who the killer is and how he fits in this triangle. It is fierce in how it grabs you, knocks you for a loop and keeps you spinning throughout the read. The suspense isn’t in who the killer is it’s in why and who he kills!! It’s off the chain. There is so much going on and yeah you have murder, siblings, a past and a present, a connection on too many side and not one but two detectives with an attitude. There is suspicion and lies, oh yeah and there’s death, but the way this author puts it all together is priceless. I read it in one sitting and could not put it down. This is a definite must read and yeah she even puts in some romance but thankfully doesn’t let it take over the story. Man this is a winner.
