Chris Jenkins, alpha werewolf, wants the woman who destroyed his life dead. Then he finds her imprisoned and beaten by her own family. So, he rescues her instead. Too make things worse, her soul is bound to a grimoire of black magic and he volunteers his pack to protect the book from falling into the wrong hands. Now, Jade has to live with him. It’s the only way to keep his city safe. Really.Jade …
Really.
Jade Ellington dreams of finding her Prince Charming, then the big bad wolf blows her jail door down. In that moment, she changes her mind. Chris is everything a woman could want. Sexy and strong, and did she mention he can cook? But she’s responsible for all his heartache and she’s nothing to him but a burden. How can she compete with the beautiful shifter women who surround him? Like all the time.
Then a thief invades the pack den and steals her grimoire. The one holding her soul hostage. The one Chris swore to keep safe. Without the book, she’ll die in days. It’s a race against time, sexual frustration, and dragons.

Not Her Alpha (Not This #5) by Annie Nicholas — Best book in this series!! I knew Chris would be a darling!!! That ending was the bomb!! Happy Reading!
This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Not Her Alpha by Annie Nicholas is book 5 in the Not This series. This delightful addition to the series gives us Chris and Jade’s story. In typical Annie Nicholas fashion, you’ll be hooked from page one. I just love New Port and all the crazy characters that live there. It’s hard not to laugh out loud, so be warned. This quick read is the perfect book to cuddle up with on an uninterrupted weekend morning. With sexy shifters, scary but loveable dragons, witches and gargoyles to name a few, there’s lots of fun to be had here. This is a Mature Readers Only read. While these books can be read stand alone, you’ll really get the most enjoyment if you read them in series order. Worth the read, I promise!
Dragons and Werewolves and Damphirs oh my! This has been an extremely fun series to read! Can’t wait to see what is next!
This was again so much fun!
I did not believe I could like both of them at all, but boy was I wrong. And the fact that there were books involved was so cute and endearing.
They both grew to be my heroes and the sacrifices each had to take were so incredible, I could not see that coming! It blew my sock off in the end. I wish there were at least 30 more of these books in the series… Pretty please.
I CAN’T BELIEVE I’M SAYING THIS, BUT I LOVED NOT HER ALPHA!!!
Title: Not Her Alpha
Series: Not This
Author: Annie Nicholas
Designation: Book 6, Full-Length, *Can Be Read As Standalone, Paranormal Romance, NO Cliffhanger
Reading Platform: Kindle Edition
My Rating: Five Delightfully Entertaining Stars*****
*Although the author gives ample backstory, this reviewer strongly recommends reading the books of the series sequentially for maximum enjoyment and to avoid possible spoilers.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I loved, loved, loved Not Her Alpha, the sixth outrageously cute release in the Not This Series by Annie Nicholas! Yup, it’s true; I really cannot believe I enjoyed it – but I did. Please allow me to explain. I’m a huge Annie Nicholas fan and usually one-click everything she releases. I think I own every single book she’s ever published, and this series is one of my all-time favorites, yet I almost didn’t purchase this book. Why? Because I disliked the hero. Actually, dislike doesn’t even begin to describe how I felt about Chris Jenkins. I literally hated the guy. For anyone following the series, you may remember Jenkins was originally introduced in the second book, Not His Werewolf, as the Alpha of the Riverbend Pack. This dude was such a total jerk. I won’t go into details or give any spoilers in case someone hasn’t read the other books, but let’s just say we didn’t know the whole story – until now. I thought it would be impossible to make Chris Jenkins likable, and certainly not redeemable, but I’m a longtime fan, totally addicted to Nicholas’ work, and just could not resist the temptation. Soooo, I put my trust in the author, one-clicked and dove in. Best decision ever! I don’t mind admitting when I’m wrong (usually), but in this case, I was very wrong, because I LOVED Not Her Alpha and once again, Annie Nicholas didn’t disappoint! I snickered, snorted, giggled, sniffled, and sobbed through the entire story but by the end, I was happy, satisfied and well entertained. Hey, don’t judge; I’m a very emotional reader! lol… Not Her Alpha is a sexy, fast-paced, easy-to-follow, full-length, standalone paranormal tale filled to the brim with side-splitting humor, endearing characters, heartbreaking angst, dreamy romance and of course, a heartwarming happy ending. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with his and her perspectives. The dialogue is snappy, hilarious, well-executed, and flows effortlessly. No one appreciates a well-written story better than me, but no matter how great the technical components and execution, without a cast of great characters, it’s all for naught. And that’s what I adore about the work of Annie Nicholas, she delivers the whole package, time after time. Each time I open a Nicholas book, I’m always assured a satisfying read, and Not Her Alpha was no exception. Werewolf Alpha Chris Jenkins and Dhampir Jade Ellington were such an unlikely couple. Both had heartbreaking histories they were trying to overcome, but the heart wants what the heart wants. Sigh… So romantic and angsty! And their sexual chemistry was smokin’ hot! These two lonely souls were so perfect for each other. Although the banter, bickering, and interaction between Chris and Jade were often laugh-out-loud funny, don’t let all the humor fool you. Chris and Jade had a difficult journey to find their happy ending.
No spoilers from me but I will say this… A misunderstood Alpha werewolf with the weight of the world on his shoulders, including a lovely cursed dhampir to protect and a ragtag pack of werewolves to provide for-check! A beautiful, lonely dhampir (half human/half vampire) held prisoner by her past and a handsome alpha werewolf who can’t admit his feelings but willing to risk everything to protect her-check! An evil grimoire that could cost Jade everything, including her life-check! Vampires, dhampires, dragons, werewolves, gargoyles, witches, and black magic-Check! Danger, heartache, and lots of angst-check! Humor, attraction, passion, steamy sex, and sweet romance-you bet! That and a whole lot more!
Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! I really, really did! Would I recommend it? You bet, and I am but only for adult readers. Will I read this author again? Absolutely! Just as soon as she releases her next book! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
Dhampir saved and alpha redeemed
Annie Nicholas’ Not This series is a hoot and a half. In Not Her Alpha we are treated to the stories of Jade, the Dhampir addicted to a black magic grimoire, and Chris Jenkins, struggling young alpha of his werewolf pack. Both have been introduced in previous books, and neither one was painted in a very positive light. But Annie Nicholas has a heart for the underdog, and in this book we get to see the other side of Jade’s affinity for black magic, and the caring loyalty of ruthless alpha Chris. Plus we get a fine, sexy inter-supernatural-species romance, an action-filled race against time to save Jade and bind the evil grimoire, and a catch-up cameo with several old friends from previous books. All with the trademark Annie Nicholas whimsy and deadpan humor. It’s not really a standalone, but trust me, reading the Not This series in order is no hardship!
NOT HER ALPHA is the fifth book in the Not This series. They definitely should be read in the order of release. Every book has been un-put-downable!
Do not read this paragraph if you have not read the previous books: When I read NOT HIS WEREWOLF, I saw the title for this one and thought Ryota was going to find his mate (since he lost out on Angie to Eoin). Instead, Chris, who is the alpha of the Riverbend Wolves, who tried to save Betty when Ken’s claiming puts her in danger (NOT HIS WEREWOLF), is the Alpha in the title. My disappointment was short-lived, because I fell in love with Chris and Jade!
The characters – main and secondary – are all strongly written with complete personalities. It makes me want to read all of their stories.
The romance between Chris and Jade builds slowly, but believably. I loved walking… no, racing with them towards the grimoire and their HEA. Speaking of their HEA, Chris proved his love in such a sigh-worthy way that makes me want a werewolf just like him!
I look forward to where we will go next in this series and who may next get their HEA.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

I found this was a fun read that had it
all. Twist and turns and drama at times
but mostly just a fun read.
Plot is well developed and the characters are very likable.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
I fell in love with New Port and all of quirky shifters, vampires, witches and other assorted folks in the last four books. All wonderful stories, read them if you have not, they are wildly entertaining.
In a neighboring town, Riverbend, we have an Alpha wolf named Chris Jenkins. Chris’s life was ruined when the teen-aged crush he had on a packmate that could not change into her wolf was destroyed by a tattoo artist. This tattoo artist was using black or dark magic but did not know it. As a result, Chris was despondent and killed his old Alpha becoming an Alpha at a young age with no experience. Since then he has tried to enhance the pack and to take care of others.
Recently the tattoo artist, Jade, is recovered along with the Black Magic grimoire. After all this time with the grimoire she is dependent on the magic. She is staying with the pack and they are guarding the grimoire until they can decide the fate of one or both. The grimoire has powerful magic.
Jade is a dhampir and has been mistreated much of her life. Living with the pack is a totally different experience. Chris cares for his pack members and Jade. Who would not love a hunky man that can cook!
Jade is slow to trust, she has issues. There is no instant- love for she and Chris, it is more of a slow awakening for both. Can she love a wolf that will leave her the minute his fated mate is found?
The grimoire is stolen! Chris sees a dragon leaving the premises. Why would a dragon want the grimoire? Jade is getting weaker and weaker, she may die. Who is Cedric the Destroyer and what does he want?
Chris must travel into a neighboring town to retrieve the grimoire but has to request permission for the most powerful wolf Alpha, Ryota! This is NOT going to go over well. Then to make things worse, her must confront the dragons of New Port, Approach at your own risk they are nesting and hormonal.
Another delightful and suspenseful story. I love finding out about new characters! More stories to come.
If you have read any of the previous books in this series this one will WOW you.
We have met Alpha Chris in a previous book along with many of the other characters in this book.
This time however it’s a magical quest. A live or die quest.
Chris adores Jade, however, her life is on a very short leash.
Can these two finally figure out they are mates? And stop Jade from fading away?
I truly loved this story… Can’t wait to see who gets a story next…
Hot romance with a bit of mystery that keeps you guessing and wanting more. Annie Nicholas writes entertaining stories with exciting storylines and super hot romances. This series is fun to read and makes you wish shifters were real. For all you paranormal romance lovers this series is a MUST read!
This is my favorite book of the series so far! Many elements of prior volumes come into play in this episode, and a lot of things start to fall into place.
Jade is still a delightful character, the more we get to know her. And I was completely amazed at how very much I liked Chris; I hated him in Not Her Dragon. But, much as with his feelings toward Jade at the start of all this, we learn a lot more about him and how he thinks. He’s really just a good guy trying to do the best he can be his pack and everyone else around him.
Watching these two grow closer together, then finally acknowledge and embrace their attraction, was darling. They definitely had a lot of issues to deal with, trying to recover the grimoire and save Jade’s life, while dealing with various repucussions from that endeavor. Ultimately, things finally do turn in their favor, but not after much angst and a huge sacrifice.
Once again, we get to see various members of the shifter clan that we’ve met in prior editions. I did not like Betty this time around, and Beth is once again a trouble-maker who can’t keep her mouth shut. But many of the other characters are a delight, and it’s fun to catch-up with them.
I hope there are additional volumes in the series, because I am really enjoying these!
Not Her Alpha is the fifth book in the Not This series and while the romance stands alone, this book might be best read in order due to some of the outside events. Jade is half human, half vampire, her soul is entwined with a dark grimoire, and she’s losing her heart to Chris, the werewolf alpha who’s tasked with keeping her safe. When the grimoire is stolen, Chris and Jade must go on an adventure to find the book and save Jade, but when love enters the mix, can a part vampire and werewolf alpha find a happy future?
I have just fallen in love with this series, these characters, and I loved Chris and Jade! There’s a whole lot that goes on in this book, but I love most of all that Chris and Jade has each other’s backs throughout their entire adventure! Jade carries the weight of her previous decisions on her shoulders, has so much guilt, but I loved that she tried to have a positive outlook, was able to smooth things over with Chris and the fellow supernatural beings, and just wanted to belong. Chris was an amazing alpha, taking care of his pack the best that he could, was willing to face angry alphas, and willing to sacrifice for Jade and their growing love. Together, they had fun, it wasn’t just about Chris being an alpha, and I loved their passion! This book is fast paced, with a lot that happens, and I loved reading through the different pack politics, the human relations, and the intricacies between the different shifters/vampire/paranormals. This is an amazing world that Ms. Nicholas has built and loved this addition to the series!
I NEVER saw that coming!
First of all, this whole series is just a blast to read. Annie has this unique writing style that combines intense action, mystery, quest-like adventures and humor. Oh and smoking-hot love. Can’t forget to mention that!
I met Jade in a previous book and hated her. But, it turns out, that I simply didn’t really know her. Now knowing her better, I very much like her. Her humility and teasing humor made her very likable, in my opinion.
Again, thanks to a previous book, I didn’t like Chris very much, either. But, boy, I sure did like him by the end. His is the ultimate redemption story, and I REALLY enjoyed reading it!
(No spoilers in this review)
My favorite part of this book was towards the end…and I don’t mean that in a bad “I couldn’t wait for this book to end” kind of way. Chris did something that was COMPLETELY unexpected (and BRILLIANT on Annie’s part for coming up with the idea). Like, I thought I knew what would happen, but I was dead wrong. And it was so exciting! I LOVE when I get surprised! Seriously, if you like shifter romances, this will just knock your socks off.
This series needs lotsa more books. I can’t wait to read them all!!!
