Sealed with a Kiss
Imagine going through an entire lifetime thinking one man was your father and then also having a mother who thought of you…. or didn’t really think of you as she was too busy with one man or another. That’s what Molly Gifford has to come to terms with in her late twenties. It now makes sense that her “dad” never treated her like his own, only sending the occasional birthday card and sporadic phone calls. He finally gives her the gift of her biological father’s name.
Molly leaves her life in New York behind and travels yo Connecticut to find the father she never knew existed. Leaving behind her best friend Daniel Hunter. Molly can’t find love and happiness until she finds herself.
Eight months after Molly finds her real family, tragedy strikes with her father’s business partner being found murdered. And General Frank Addams, Molly’s father is arrested for the crime. After feeling her fathers attorney is inadequate, Molly decides to call the best criminal defense attorney in NY state, Daniel Hunter, or Hunter ash is friends call him.
Hunter is reluctant to help Molly since she broke his heart by leaving him last year but he also can’t say no. He travels to CT to meet the family. After learning about the man Frank is, he knows he needs to take the case. Hunter stays in the family home with Molly, her grandmother, the Commander and Jessie, Molly’s teenage sister. Their other sister Robyn is away at college.
The police have no evidence against Frank, just a strong motive, the oldest one in time: money. Paul Markham, the deceased, had milked the company dry. There was no murder weapon found and no one could place Frank at the office that night.
Enter Hunter. He decides he has to help the General even if it means ripping his heart out by being so close to Molly, again.
I will not give away more info…. just that this book does have a happy ending. A must read.
Hunter and Molly struggle thru so much past family heartache to get to their happily ever after. You felt the pain and I just kept reading because I had to know how the book ended. I love when books suck me in like that. I’m a Carly fan and I wasn’t disappointed. I read both books, Cross my Heart and Sealed with a Kiss pretty much over one weekend
I received an advance copy of this book for an honest review.
We first meet Hunter and Molly in Cross my Heart, so you should read that book, before you read this one.
Molly broke Hunter’s heart.
Molly has always had a great need for family and fitting in. She finds out that her birth father is jus t a regular guy. She meets him and shortly thereafter, he is accused of murdering his business partner. The only person she trusts to take the case is Huner.
Hunter has become a womanizing, drinking, slovenly mess, since Molly has broken his heart. He reluctently take the case. He figures this time he’ll be the one to walk away.
In this book, we have a great mystery, of who the murderer is, which isn’t solved until almost the end of the story.
We also learn a great deal more insight about what makes both Hunter and Molly tick and why they are the way they are. Why they have built such high emotional walls.
The sexual chemistry between them is great, but is it enough to for a lasting relationship?
Can they gat past their childhoods and have a future together?
Of course! It’s a Carly Philips book and it has a great HEA!
She needs his help. He wants her heart. A complicated history makes working together a bad idea, but the heart wants what it wants. Molly is the one that walked away. Now she’s back with a favor to ask. Hunter was left nursing a broken heart. Can he forget the past and accept the second chance headed his way? Phillips never makes love easy, but it’s the journey of getting to the happy ending that keeps pulling me back to the ride. Sealed with a Kiss engages the heart from beginning to end.
Molly ran away to figure out what the definition of family means to her and ends up with a biological father that she never knew and two sisters that she always wanted, but there is one problem – her father is under arrest for murder. Molly needs Hunter’s legal expertise to get her dad out of jail, but what she was not planning on was that Hunter would see things in her that she did not want to admit to. Can the two continue with a relationship while Molly decides on her future? Or will the two end up saving themselves as well as those Molly loves? With beautifully written characters and a storyline I could not put down this was a wonderful read. I loved Hunter from book one and he only got better when he opened his heart.
We met Molly and Hunter in “Cross my Heart”. Molly left Hunter brokenhearted and a little bitter when she turned her back on him and left town. They’ve known each other since law school and have had a history of flirtation, attraction and chemistry. They were just beginning to have a real relationship when Molly left town and broke Hunter’s heart. Now almost a year later, Molly comes back into his life because she needs his help as her father is in need of the best criminal lawyer, she knows that Hunter is the only one she wants. Having no intention of getting his heart trampled on again, Hunter reluctantly agrees to take the case. It was nice to see these two reconnect and to watch their love and respect for each other grow.
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**
Sealed with a Kiss is the second book in Carly Phillips Ty and Hunter series. While you don’t have to read Cross My Heart first, it is helpful in giving you some context regarding Molly and Hunter’s past relationship.
Molly and Hunter have been circling around one another for some time. They attended the same law school and when they were living in Hunter’s hometown both practicing law, they grew close as they worked to unravel a mystery that affected Ty and Lacey, the people that Hunter considers his family.
When Molly learns that the man she thought was her father actually isn’t, she leaves her old life behind in search of her biological father and to “find herself” as well. Obviously, that included leaving Hunter behind as well. Once Molly connects with her real father, things go south in a hurry when he is accused of murder. There is only one person Molly thinks of that can help her in this situation – Hunter. The question is will he be able to help the woman who hurt him so and then just take off or will things between Molly and Hunter turn romantic once again?
This story is filled with a bit of everything. You have mystery and intrigue, you have family drama, humor and romance. I’ve always been a huge Carly Phillips fan and this is just another great book in her library!
