This book was dark, deviant and delicious!!! Kazimir sees Sadie and instantly wants her but there is a game being played. Kidnapped and taken to another country, Sadie has no clue what is going on. During the whole time, Kazimir is torn between following the orders of the head of the family and his ever growing feelings towards his wife, Sadie. I loved the build up of the relationship between them and even though this story had very dark overtones, I just couldn’t put it down. I’m hoping that some of the secondary characters will be getting their stories told in the future. I loved this book and HIGHLY recommend it.
I accepted to listen to The Bratva’s Baby in exchange for an honest review from a Facebook Audiobook Review group. It does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I am a sucker for a good dark romance in general. I have always been very curious and fascinated with this genre.
I usually prefer audiobooks to have dual/duet narrations, that way I can really get the feel for the 2 POVs. I don’t care for when male’s narrate over a female’s POV. But I try not to let that mess with my overall feelings for the book. So my feelings toward that don’t reflect at all in this rating. Overall, Wen Ross did a phenomenal job narrating this book and I loved it!
It wasn’t your typical romance by any means. I mean, it is a dark book… But I was immediately sucked in from the beginning. I basically binge listened to the entirety of the book. The ONLY reason I didn’t finish in 1 sitting is because I was literally falling asleep from exhaustion of the day and had to stop the book. This book was amazing and I look forward to more books by Jane as well as hearing more of Wen’s books he has narrated!!
The Bratva’s Baby by Jane Henry has some dark overtones, but it’s a lot delicious with a very dominant protector, who finds the naive, innocent he has kidnapped does have a backbone and is not completely compliant. The plan to wed her, bed her, take her money then end her life doesn’t go as intended. As the Bratva officer finds out, but he does come to other conclusions.
Wen Ross narrates with a steamy hot Russian accent.
Looking forward to more in the Wicked Dom series.

This is a dark Russian mafia romance, in the Wicked Doms World. Sadie and Kashmir’s story is intense, and emotional. They share an undeniable, hot, and strong D/s chemistry. Sadie, is a librarian, and Kashmir is a brigadier of the Russian Bratva. The story has some dark scenes, sometimes difficult to listen to. I haven’t read a lot of dark romance, but Jane Henry never disappoints and gives us a well written dark story, with great characters, and a great storyline, well described and well developed. Wen Ross did an amazing job with the narration. If you like dark romance, you should like this one.

“She will learn to obey.”
THE BRATVA’S BABY was bewitching. Wickedly Wanton. Edgy and raw. And so intoxicating I am still riding an euphoric high!
I swear Jane Henry ups her game with each new dark romance she pens, and I was transfixed by this enthralling mafia tale from page one. This book truly has all—torrid passion, exciting melodrama, adrenaline pumping suspense, and spine-tingling peril! As for the romance, OMG Sadie and Kazimir’s chemistry was OFF THE CHARTS! Their connection was immediate—and electrifying—and so tantalizingly kinky I panted my way through their erotic interludes!
Gah…talk about a SAVAGELY BEAUTIFUL anti-hero that gives you goosebumps! Kazimir Romanov, brigadier of the Bratva, is big, stern, predatory and oh so powerfully commanding. As the Bratva’s head enforcer, he is man to be obeyed and blood will be shed by anyone who dares to cross him. And I pity the poor soul who tries to harm Sadie, the lovely little librarian whom he’s claimed as his!
Except that’s where things get a tad complicated. Battle lines are drawn as Kazimir is torn between his fierce loyalty to his Bratva family, and his all-consuming feelings for the sweet, shy, achingly innocent captive who inflames his every wicked desire. When he first abducted Sadie, his plan was solidly in place: “Marry her, obtain her inheritance, then get rid of her.” However, for a quiet, reserved wallflower, she sure has a lot of fire lurking inside her and does not comply easily! And truth be told, the cruel, sadistic dominant in him derives immense pleasure in punishing his disobedient prisoner, stripping her of her defiance, mastering her body and soul.
But as hard as he tries to stay cold and detached and keep Sadie from infiltrating his steely defenses, her kind yet feisty disposition and eventual sweet supplication nearly brings him to his knees. He might be her captor but “krasotka,” wields more control over him than he could ever envision. And with time running out, and her pretty neck on the line, he will do anything to protect her. But can Kazimir betray the devil whom he’d sold his soul to long ago?!
As for Sadie, growing up unwanted and unloved in the foster care system, she was a hermit who was riddled with cropping social anxiety. Her one sanctuary was the library and she loved to escape the chaotic world by immersing herself in the glorious books that surrounded her. But from the moment the roguishly alpha Kazimir first snuck up on her in the library on that cold, blustery, winter morning, she could have sworn he stepped out of the pages of one of her swashbuckling romances! His huge, commanding stature and powerful, domineering presence overwhelmed and enticed her all at once. But she foolishly fell prey to his darkly seductive charms and walked right into his sinister trap. For the next thing she knew she was subdued, bound and gagged, whisked away on a plane to his Russian homeland, and TOTALLY at his mercy.
Now, in the blink of an eye, she has been ripped away from her small, safe world and thrust into a petrifying new reality. She’s now Kazimir’s captive, forced to submit or SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES. But while she’s scared by the gruff, intimidating Russian, and resents him for the shocking indignities she’s forced to endure as part of her “training,” she nevertheless finds herself helplessly drawn to her magnetic captor. And as the days blended together and her hope of escape dwindle, a tiny secret part of her aches to disobey his orders to feel the lash of his belt on her hot burning flesh, to allow him to mold her will to his and show her the sweet pleasures of submission! And, shockingly, she’d never felt safer than when she was cosseted in his strong, sheltering embrace.
But can she trust her heart, her VERY LIFE, with this terrifyingly beautiful man who has sworn a lifelong allegiance to brotherhood of Bratva?
Ahh the conundrum!!
I just ADORED the evolution of their romance as we got to bear witness to them falling in love amid a backdrop of danger, violence, treachery and deception. And I especially loved how against all odds these two broken souls become whole again and open each other’s worlds to beautiful new possibilities.
“I lived a dismal life cast in muted gray. With Kazimir, my world has become full, vivid color.”
Bottom line: I really cannot RAVE enough about THE BRATVA’S BABY! I was completely swept up into the dark, dangerous Bratva’s world Ms. Henry created, which sets the stage for future installments of Wicked Doms! My only slight surprise was in regard to how the Bratva plotline eventually unfolded. Once everything came to a head in the final chapters, I was expecting a deadly showdown between Dimitri and Kazimir, with Sadie caught in the bloody crossfire, but the author took a different tact which I will say still had me on the edge of my seat! Just in a slightly different way than I was anticipating. And while I would have enjoyed a slightly grittier climax, where we might have gotten to see the dastardly Dimitri getting his richly deserved comeuppance, overall I was quite pleased with the resolution. Especially in regard to the SWOONY HEA, which made me gloriously happy!
NARRATION:
This was an audio listen and Wen Ross’s narration of Kazimir was hypnotizing!!! His deep, raspy, Russian brogue was SO SEDUCTIVELY SEXY, it melted my panties and made me quake with desire! He was perfectly cast as this dark, dangerous antihero and infused Kazimir with a perfect blend of rough-edged male dominance, breathtaking tenderness and fierce protectiveness. I loved how his voice could shift so seamlessly from a harsh growl to soft and soothing, depending on the mood of the scene, and he did an amazing job seguing into the Sadie role too!! Ultimately, Mr. Ross delivered a truly ASTOUNDING audio performance that gave me all the shivery feels!
Highly recommend!
Great Narration Great Story! 4.5 Dark & Intense Stars
The Bratva’s Baby
Wicked Doms
By: Jane Henry
Narrated by: Wen Ross
Jane Henry pens another great story It is well written with interesting characters and storylines that captivated my attention from start to end. Kazimir, a badass Dom, is a member of The Bravta, the Russian mafia. He has a dark past and a hardened personality. He is on a mission in the US which is to capture Sadie, a quiet librarian, bring her back home and marry for her inheritance. Not all things go according to plans, Sadie is not his usual captive, behaves differently than others he had in the past. She starts to penetrate the walls around his heart and bring out his human side. There is great chemistry between the two, she is a natural submissive to his dominance. There is plenty of drama, some action, twists and hot D/s scenes. I loved the direction Jane Henry took their story, also love the ending. Thanks for another great story.
I listened to the Audible edition, narrated by the talented Wen Ross. He performed the voices of all the characters, brought them to life and giving them much heart and attitude. Shout out on his Russian accents, he sounded awesome and so authentic. Thank you for another great and entertaining listen
Thank you AudiobookObsession
First let me start off by saying I listened to the audio version of this book and the narrator was phenomenal! Unfortunately, he couldn’t save this book from my two star review. Sigh…
Ok, so it starts out with Sadie, a poor librarian who was raised in the foster system, meets this guy that shows her interest in which she doesn’t get from guys like him. Tall, dark, handsome and Russian. As it turns out this guy, Kazmir, is in the Russian mob and has been ordered to kidnap and marry said girl to gain her inheritance. So here’s where it all goes wonky. The characters were likable enough, but lacked depth. Also there were a lot of inconsistencies in this book annnnd it was a little rapey. I’m down with the whole kidnap the chick and get her to love you thing (soooo down with this) but he was mean to her. She still fell for him and he for her and they lived happily ever after. But how? He’s in the bratva. Once you are in, you’re in. The only way out is death. And friend, father figure, boss or whatever, you obey or die. I just thought a lot of this was unrealistic and yes I realize this is fiction, but at least make it somewhat believable fiction. Also, what happened to the boss? His brothers? Do they keep in touch?
I did like the idea of the storyline, I just felt it could have been carried out better. Just my opinion. I urge others to read it. Just because I don’t like it, doesn’t mean you won’t.
* AUDIOBOOK REVIEW *
This was a enjoyable listen, mainly because of Wen Ross, but the storyline is also good. The story lacked that little something (connection between the main characters perhaps) that makes it excellent.
* Characters are well described but as said before lacking something…
* No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings.
* Plenty of dialogues
* The storyline has a nice progression
It’s a dark story but still has elements of sweetness in it.
The ending is a little abrupt but it’s HEA so who cares
Narrator is excellent, clear pronunciation and soothing voice.
I found this a hard book to write a review about. Not because it is a bad book, but because I am not sure how I feel about the story.
Let me start by saying that I thought the book was well written and I liked the characters. Both of them were well developed and layered. I loved seeing how their past influenced them and how they react to certain situations. And I enjoyed seeing how Sadie discovers a lot about herself.
The beginning of the book was really good and I got sucked into the story right away, but the book then went into another direction then I thought it would. I think I maybe expected something a bit darker and a different angle. And this is why I am not sure how i feel about the story.
I did love the ending.
A librarian who lives her life in seclusion and has no family or friends finds herself enamored by the striking man who comes into her library and commands her in a way she does not understand. She meets him again, and agrees to have dinner with him. Little does she know that he has been stalking her and plans to kidnapp her and marry her. So when she starts to feel out of sorts after two glasses of wine, confusion sets in. Waking up on a plane does not make matters better! The dominant, infuriating man takes her to place she does not know, treats her in ways she does not understand and she hates herself for every ounce of softening that seeps into her for him. He hurts her, yells at her, commands her and speaks reverently at times. The place is scary, the people ate terrifying, but the pleasure she receives is explosive and she is insatiable. An interesting story line compliments the kink perfectly and you will be rooting for the lovely couple before its over. Five kinky stars!
Well this was a surprisingly fun read! I thought it was going to be dark and gritty, but it turned out to be passionate and dirty (in a good way). I really enjoyed the two main characters, I thought that they were both strong yet caring and I loved the way they went together. They were the perfect pair.
This book has passion and a dom/sub relationship but its also caring and sweet. I liked the balance between the mafia story line and the devolving relationship. Don’t worry there is a very sweet HEA! If you have read and liked Island Captive by this author I think you will enjoy this book as well.
This was outstanding from the very first page it grabs you right at the beginning with the start of an intense thrilling super sexy Mafia and I loved every single word. The description and feelings and changes of Kazimir and Sadie are beyond words and anything I expected. I loved Sadies drive and her innocence she was such different a which made this story so addicting and Kazimir was scary and very stern but underneath it all god he was so super sexy, just watching the scenes play out was enough for me not to put it down with my heart racing. The characters are so well developed I didn’t want it to end.
I thought this was a simply delicious, dark romance. The stellar combination of an intense storyline and sizzling chemistry will have you engaged and on edge. Kazimir and Sadie’s book will have you gasping from he dramatic twists and sweating from the scorching heat. I loved how this couples story evolved and the complexity of the characters themselves. As this is a dark romance there is content that can be a turnoff for some and triggers for others. So please so be aware that this book contains kidnapping and dubious consent. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait for more.
This was an exciting captive/lover romance, with a little more emphasis on the captive part. Sadie has an understated strength that allows her to flourish in an environment meant to break her. Kazimir is finding all his views on his life challenged and he has to decide just what’s really important to him.
The twist at the end – the very reason that brought these two together in the first place – fell a bit flat for me, but ultimately the love story is strong enough to overlook that minor flaw. There’s plenty of steam, lots of dark domination with the accompanying submission and humiliation, and friendships tested by loyalty. I enjoyed the story, especially the HEA. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Whew!! A little dark, twisted and definitely hot. Kazimir is one of the Bratva’s most valued enforcers. Sadie is a quiet nobody working her days in a library and spending her nights reading. Little does Kazimir know the feistiness that lies beneath Sadie’s baggy clothes. He certainly finds out when he takes her for himself! It’s all part of a plan…a plan that’s been laid out for Kazimir to follow. But sometimes the best laid plans go awry especially when everything you thought you knew isn’t at all what it seems.
Great read – intense, explosive chemistry, Russian mafia goodness. Loved the fast pace and couldn’t put it down once I started. Fell in love with the main characters – you expect the Russian mafia member to be dominant and unyielding, but the female lead is equally strong in her own way and might just be able to bring him to his knees if they can overcome obstacles of lifestyle and circumstances out of their control. Heart-pounding and heart-melting – be ready to be captivated as the author brings their story to life.
Awesome ! I absolutely loved it. Kazimir and Sadie’s story really captured my attention and kept me turning page after page. An intriguing storyline with twist and turns that left me wanting more of their story. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great read
This one is definitely a hot read! I really liked the story and the characters. Some it felt a little formal in places but nothing major. I would definitely recommend it.
