Loved this book, first one I have read of the Sister Sleuth books, but not the last. There were a lot of characters in this book, but I am not going to mention all, which will give you even more a reason to read it. I have short-term memory loss, so I wrote down the ones that are in the Detective Agency and their family and the names in the first case, which has bugged Warren since he retired from the police department. It helped me and then as new characters come along, I was able to put them into the correct case. I know this is an unusual way to review a book, but I am sure there are other people with memory problems that would love this book and this is just an idea that might help. I stopped reading for almost three years because books with multiple characters were too hard for me to keep up,then a friend said write down the characters and who they go with if there a lot. That was a God-send so maybe this idea will help someone else get back to their love of reading. This book is too good not to read just because ther are lots of characters, but I am not listing them all.
For the Conley Austin Detective Agency there is father Warren, daughters Lea and Maddie. Warren’s wife and the girls mother is Barbara. Lea is married to Paul and they have a teenage son Jon. Maddy is divorced since her husband cheated on her. She is also an interior designer who is not going to give up that job.she dates a policeman, Tom, but she is afraid of commitment. His parter is a lady named Pat.
Now to the review.opening day starts off pretty fast. First case is one that has bothered Warren since it happened.
Sam, the father of a daughter Emma who he says was murdered by his son-in-law Dr. Jeffrey Grant and that he got away with it. The coroner ruled it an accident and they could never come up with evidence against Emma’s husband to prosecute. Now that Sam sees Warren has opened a Detective Agency, he hopes he will give it another shot. Warren said they would try, but since they couldn’t find anything when it was fresh it will be even harder now.
Then the next case a lady come in telling them about her little missing dog. Warren says they aren’t a pet Detective Agency. The lady says she wants her dog back but she also wants the dog’s diamond collar back, so they agree to take the case. Their third case is a friend of Paul’s who runs a pest control company that should be making more money than what is showing up. Lea immediately thinks embezzlement so they agree to take this case also.
So Warren takes on the missing dog and collar case. Maddie takes on Sam’s Case by making an appointment with Dr. Jeffrey Frant, plastic surgeon. So Lea takes on the Pest Control Company. With these cases there are many twists and turns, an attempted murder and another murder. We also see the family dynamics and how well they get along,at least the majority of the time. It is a fun Cozy Mystery, but deals with some serious subjects. I usually have a fairly good idea who the murderer is, but I was in complete shock when they solved it. It has so much action and really is a page turners, I started it last last night and finished it early this morning. I hope I have given you enough to wet your appetite and to see what other characters are there and how they fit in, please give this book a try, in my opinion it was AWESOME and Rayna Morgan is a great author.
Lots of plot twists and good sleuthing!
Maddy and Lea have teamed up with their father, Warren, and the Conley and Austin Detective Agency is officially open and the cases are pouring in. A missing dog, a cold case murder, and a potential embezzlement – what a combo! The suspense and plot twists make for a fun read. Sometimes mysteries can be fun but predictable but not this one – it kept me guessing until the end. I finished the book in one day.
“Sizzling Cold Case” (A Sister Sleuths Mystery Book 7) written by Rayana Morgan is my second book from this author. Even though this was the seventh book in this series it can be read as a standalone. This book has three cases with many twists and turns and suspects that will keep you guessing and turning the pages. I think the different storylines work well. The sleuths are a pair of sisters that now work together with their father. With him in the picture I can’t wait to see where the series takes us. I recommend this book to cozy mystery readers it is a relaxing and enjoyable book. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series!
The Conley Austin Detective Agency has many things going on. First, a murder case that they thought they had figured out pretty fast. Then there is the missing dog with the diamond collar, and of course the payroll of the agency isn’t being made. Is it bad business practices or is someone embezzling? You will need to read the book to find out how everything turns out. I received a free ARC of this book and this is my honest review of it.
