They hunted her. They caught her. Now they will subdue her.The resistance sent them, but that’s not really why these four battle-hardened Vakarrans are here. They came for me. To conquer me. To master me. To ravage me. To strip me bare, punish me for the slightest hint of defiance, and use my quivering virgin body in ways far beyond anything in even the very darkest of my dreams, until I’ve been … dreams, until I’ve been utterly, completely, and shamefully subdued.
I vow never to beg for mercy, but I can’t help wondering how long it will be until I beg for more.
Publisher’s Note: Subdued is a stand-alone novel which is the fourth book in the Vakarran Captives series. It includes spankings, sexual scenes, intense and humiliating punishments, and strong D/s themes. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

~The very last Stryke~
When the last human holdout on Earth is infiltrated by a set of now-familiar Vakkaran warriors, the youngest Stryke sister, Kaela, strikes a deal with them in order to protect her colony. She becomes their reluctant captive. Same boat. Different shoes. Could she believe what they intimidating males were saying, that her sisters were alive and wanted her to join the resistance? It was going to take much convincing and much travel to join up with the rest of the Strykes, feats which Tavik, Zane, Caleb, and Valdus had no qualms in performing.
This read describes some of the most intense claimings of the series and great suspense/action which completes the story surrounding Nix, the one individual the resistance was focusing all their efforts on. Amazing series and one I will read again!
Vakarran Captives, Book 4 Can the last of the Strykes finally take down the Vakarrans?
SPOILER ALERT/REVIEWER’S NOTE: While each book in this series is labeled as a standalone, it’s this reviewer’s opinion that they should be read in order. If they aren’t, this reviewer believes the reader will miss a significant amount of backstory and characters that are essential to the entire series. It’s up to you to decide that for yourself by reading the synopses and reviews for each book before buying. However, if you haven’t read the prior books in this series, this review may contain spoilers.
After ten long years, I’m the last Stryke! Now they come for me! They’ve no idea what they’re up against. If the Vakarrans think they know the Strykes, they’re, oh, so very wrong. I’m unlike anything they’ve ever seen, the best of the best. And I’ll make them pay. Four-to-one odds are hard but not impossible! But I’m hardly alone! Or wait! Am I? Then, by all the stars in the universe—could the rumors be wrong? Every advantage I had is gone in the blink of an eye. Is this what my sisters felt? The Vakarrans conquered my world, work as a unit in every way. Now they seek to conquer me. And something deep inside tells me nothing is as it seems. Could I be wrong? If I am, what has and will happen? If I’m not, will the Vakarrans finally end Earth in every possible way? I’m totally lost! Am I capable of finding the truth? More importantly, what do I need? Can I, one person, have the power to change anything?
Since this is the last book in this series, I honestly expected more of Kaela, her Vakarrans, and this book than I got. I don’t want to give away anything in any way. After reading the entire series, I feel all the Stryke sisters have a few unique abilities, but they’re cut from the same cloth. That’s to be expected as they are sisters in an extended and solitary existence. That’s also not to say they’re cookie cutter images of each other. But their similarities far outweigh their differences, until each undergoes a transformative stage. Even then, their similarities still outweigh their differences. I also think the particular Vakarrans associated with each Stryke sister could be identical. I think this is a weakness in this series. I love the premise of the series. The differences between the aliens and humans is remarkable. The Vakarrans have definitely earned the rumors that swirl about them and their agenda on Earth. There are deep conflict, terror, eye-opening wonder, and terrible consequences for every human that remains on Earth. The Vakarrans, outside the specific ones associated with each Stryke sister, are all over the map. There’s a lot of very hot sex, but that’s definitely not the be all, end all of any of these books. There are developed plots and supporting characters. I have really liked this entire series and think it’s well worth reading. I do recommend the entire series, especially if you like sci-fi and reverse harem. The thing that bothered me the most is, after the first book, each subsequent one was a bit predictable. But, please, don’t take my word. Find out for yourself. I’m just one person. I know that the vast majority of readers who’ve read and reviewed this book don’t agree with my opinion. I do adore this author. But I don’t think this book, or the others in the series, are her best.
A final note. This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language and BDSM-like sexual scenes. If you don’t enjoy this genre, this may not be the book for you. Check the book blurbs and reviews available on Goodreads and Amazon. Please use them before buying this book. I do recommend this book if you like this genre. I think you will too.
Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!
I do love this series. Not only do you get some wonderfully sexy sex scenes. Not only do you get hot aliens and one lucky woman, but you get some great action and mystery.
Subdued seems to be the last of the Vakarran Captives Series, which is kind of sad, to be honest. I loved the Stryke sisters and how tuff they are. They all brought something different to the table, and then you add the hot alien men to their lives, and you have some great books.
I will say that all of these books are told to be standalone, but I would not read them out of order. To understand the action and mystery of this great series I would read them in order.
Submitting to the Dominate is a big part of Subdued. We all need fire and spirit from those we love. If the fire gets too hot, it burns out of control. Containing that fire in a gentle, yet firm way is key.
Kaela Stryke is a strong-willed and clever human, keeping everything together after losing her sisters. She doesn’t want to be the leader of the group but takes on the mantle to keep everyone safe.
Tavik, Zane, Valdus, and Caleb are Vakarrans warriors. Fierce, determined, tough. Their target is Kaela. Her sisters want her with them so she will be safe. The four Vakarrans work together to retrieve the Kaela.
When they see her, they know she is theirs. Working together, they bring her to heel and give her the greatest pleasure she will ever know. She’s their Mate, and the sooner she realizes it, the better they will all be.
But forces are trying to kill Kaela before her Vakarrans can bring her to her sisters. The Vakarrans step up, showing her they the Mates she needs.
Kaela was the leader of a resistance group against a Vakarran invasion. Her sisters had been kidnapped and were missing. The characters were strong and developed well. Finally something to be thankful for about the villain, Nix, at the end of this read.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Sara Fields truly saved the best for last. I loved every word of Kaela’s story. Her four Vakarrans are my favorites. Zane, Caleb Valdus and Tavik have to be the strongest, bravest and sweetest of all the Vakarrans. The contrast between each of their personalities truly made Kaela’s relationship well rounded and unique. Subdued truly does answer all questiins that may ha e been left from the other books in the series. It ties everyone and everything together and ends the series beautifully. Subdued does not lack anything. It is action packed, suspenseful, romantic and steamy hot! This book will melt your kindle!!
