During childhood, Avery Dixon bonded with Dylan Markham over their parental neglect after her mom abandoned her and his father cared more about his drugs than his family. Over the years, their love blossomed, and they made plans to run away together after high school graduation. Only Dylan fled their dead-end lives before then, leaving Avery behind without explanation. Three years later, Dylan … returns a new and improved man-of-honor and integrity, explaining he only left so that he could overcome his demons and make a better life for them both. He vows to make all Avery’s dreams come true, but will she ever be able to trust him enough to take a chance on another promise of a happily ever after?

This is a quick read at under 100 pages. It is also a sweet, clean second-chance romance. Dylan Markham was run out of town by the Sheriff. He left Avery Dixon his childhood sweetheart behind. Avery was devastated at his desertion. It wasn’t the first one in her young life. Her father left long ago, then their mother left. Avery’s older sister Sadie (The Sassy Bride) raised Avery and their younger sister Zoey. The three girls are very close. Dylan comes back after two years and tries to explain the reason behind his departure. It wasn’t want she thinks. He didn’t desert her, he just left to join the Army to become a better man for her.
The road to Dylan and Avery’s HEA is a long that is filled-with second guessing, angst and hope. There were times though that I felt the story was rushed especially at the end. I also wished the story wasn’t just from Avery’s POV. I prefer a dual POV format. I understand the reasoning behind the author’s decision but it just detracted the enjoyment for me (it may not for others; again just my opinion).
This is a heartwarming read that anyone of any age could enjoy.
They bonded over their bad childhoods and vowed to become more after they left school but he disappears to return years later. He tells her he needed to deal with his demons. Can she forgive him? Will she understood why? Seen if they will have a happy ending

Avery Dixon and Dylan Markham were trouble makers in Magnolia Corners. They planned on running away together until the sheriff ran Dylan off three years ago. Now he’s home on leave from the army and he wants to win Avery’s heart back. But he has to overcome the hurt he caused her over his abandonment, his guilt over his past and lack of communication and he has to get past a sheriff that continues to tarnish him with the same brush as his drunken drugged up father. Avery was spunky and determined to make a difference and be happy in Magnolia even though she secretly wanted to travel and write. Dylan and Avery both grew up and became better people. I like this book even better than the first one in the series.
She had so wanted to go with him yet she said no then when she changed her mind he was gone. Now he is back and Avery does not know what to do. Dylan is back and all he wants is a second chance. The question is – are all the demons that these two had are they gone? Is it possible that there is a future for Avery and Dylan? This was a sweet and wonderful story about faith and the healing touch of love. It was a book you will want to read again and again. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
This is the second book of the series. I read that first and was greatly impressed. The second meets the expectations that I had after the first. It is about life choices and hoping that you make the right ones. I recommend that you read it.
