Sticks and stones and moss and leaves… that’s what Tatiana is made of. Tatiana is a replacement—an exchanged child—created to take the place of a perfect human baby and left in a cradle on a cold, winter night. But twenty years later, her time is running out. The creature who made Tatiana returns and challenges everything she knows. Not only is Tatiana not human, and her family not her family, … not her family, but the human world is killing her.
Determined to give her family the life—and daughter—they deserve, Tatiana journeys to a strange world, one of fire and dust, and concrete and glass. There, she’ll risk everything to find the human girl she replaced, and make things right.
But she won’t be alone. Grisha, a roamer, and Fedir, a mysterious shifter, find her and vow to help her.
And they aren’t the only ones.
Soon, Shubin, Taras, and Kopala, are caught up in Tatiana’s quest. Fascinated by this exchanged girl, the five otherworldly creatures will put their trust in her.
But hope is a fragile thing, and Tatiana’s been burned before. Will she come to believe she’s finally found a place to belong?

I thought Forge and Fire was pretty amazing, it kept me interested from the first page right up until the very end of the story.
Which I have to say I’m looking forward to Iron and Ashes because I have to know what happens next with Tatiana and the others.
Ripley Proserpina definitely knows how to weave a story that keeps her reader hooked because I could not put this book down once I had started reading it, I like how she made all her MCs the awesome blend of kick butt and slightly vulnerable and the reality she created I could almost smell the air and hear the sounds.
So yes it’s going to be a big HECK YEAH I most definitely do recommend this book because I really enjoyed reading it and I think others will as well.
Paranormal. Rh. 5 Fae men. Russian version of fairy lore. Insta bond. Tatiana has been sick her whole 20 years of life and the doctors can’t help her. What her and her family don’t know, Tati, is a replacement (a changeling). Made of rocks, sticks, and leaves. This story really hit me hard right from the start. If you don’t know, changelings are fae children left to replace the human baby being stolen away to be brought fairy. The characters are all unique and you’ll love all of them. The story was very captivating, I don’t think there was ever a slow point once the plot point was revealed. Definitely one of my favorite of the year so far. Love it.
I love the world Ripley has created for this series. The past is the beginning as the rusalka looks at the human child and desires to keep her.
Almost twenty years later the story continues as Tatiana with her mother finds she has little time to live and there is no possible cure. It’s once her father, brother and grandmother (Babusya) show up that she finds out exactly what she is.
Her Babusya lets her know in a rather brutal way and the rusalka had to come to the human world to save her. A replacement, Tatiana shouldn’t have lived beyond a few days after the exchange. However the rusalka was followed and this is when Tatiana is offered a choice.
Grisha is only the first feia to make an appearance on this very strange night. For Tatiana the second one from Fedir helps her to decide on a path to bring the human Tatiana back where she belongs.
Korolevstvo is a strange and alive world, filled with many dangers and it also seemed to be poisoned. I loved the way Tatiana meets the rest of her guys Kopala, Shubin and Taras. Each of them does something to help and protect her.
Plenty of action, as we get to know this world and the feia that inhabit it. As they decide to stay together there are other problems to resolve.
I can’t wait to see this relationship grow and what other things they will face in the next book.
I have not read the folktale of Aswaga, from the Philippines, and Slavic folklore about rusalka, but they must been amazing. This RH is a slow burn, but I don’t believe it will be glacial. The heroine is Tatiana a changeling who has far outlived her life expectancy but after a sickly youth time is growing short for her. She is given the chance to go to the other world to bring the real daughter back to her family as Tati once again takes her place. On her journey she meets five men of different species who help her on her quest. The different elements are represented in the men making Tatiana and the reader feel the entirety of the faltering world. It’s impossible to pick a favorite and as with most RH it’s clear that each guy will bring his own special talents to the group and to their girl.
Proserpina delivers a wonderfully dark and dangerous world that mirrors our own world that are both being choked by pollution, ours slowly and the other world is a living breathing danger zone. I could vividly smell the stench and ash, feel the heat and see the tragic landscape that I was reading. I could also enjoy the closeness and caring between Tatiana and her newly formed family. Her open generous heart is in stark contrast to the other world and most of its inhabitants. It has an apocalyptic feel, but the guys frequently say that time is different there and they can’t remember when the world changed to the dark dangerous place it is currently.
The journey to find the true daughter is filled with dangerous situations and more dangerous beings. I stayed engrossed and entertained through each encounter. I eagerly anticipate the next book in the is series.
Tatiana has been sick her and entire life, and one day finds out that the reason she is sick/dying is that she is a “replacement” aka a changeling. Proserpina creates and intriguing and unique new world. Tatiana is a sweet, yet naive young girl. She has insta-bonds with the guys she meets, but this is a slow burn. I am intrigued by Shubin, Tara’s, and Kopala, and am really liking Fenrik and Grisha. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series and find out how they are going to get their world back on track 🙂
First in a new series. This is a wonderful tale of a girl, a sick girl, a changling, a replacement… a fae creation made to fool humans in to not realising their child had been stolen… but Tatiana did not die as planned… nearly 20 years has passed when she is finally told that she is dying…. and that she isn’t actually human!
I love stories that focus on the fae, I especially love this authors… it’s a unique and action packed tale, filled with mystery and intrigue from the start… poor Tati is so in the dark… and me the reader along with her…finding herself aided by a strange and unique collection of fae protectors along the way makes her journey all that more confusing… but it also makes for great reading!
I love a reverse harem… I love a fae reverse harem even more so
With names I’ve got not chance of spelling ( sorry Ripley ) I’ve already singled out my favourites.. ( Shubin ) each one is more intriguing and enigmatic than the last and I cannot wait to see how their stories are revealed as well as their relationships develop with each other as well as Tati.
If you like variety amongst your book boyfriends… then this dear readers is the book to get! This is. Slow burn reverse harem but not the dreaded death by slower than snails slow burn… it has a nice pace that suits the pace of the story.
This is a series that I will be waiting somewhat impatiently for…bewarned there is a somewhat cliffhanger of an ending but given the excitement it was managed brilliantly.
Bring on book 2
This book was a delightful surprise for me. As an avid romance reader, I enjoy a broad range of story themes. I honestly admit that I am a bit over the whole reverse harem trope. In the past year it has been done until the very idea is almost a complete turnoff for me. I really enjoyed this reverse harem romance though. The story was very well written and very complex and compelling. My heart bled for Tatiana. I cannot even fathom the disbelief and pain that the shocking revelation about her family, the world she lives in and even who she is. Simply it is a powerful, poignant story. Is the groundwork all laid out for the beginning of the reverse harem? Yes, there is a diverse and intriguing group of men taking form, but this book offers so much more. There is drama, pain, emotional turmoil, love suspense and sacrifice. I am intrigued and hooked! I’m really looking forward to the next book to see what happens next.
This book is currently on pre-order and I had the pleasure of reading it early. I can’t say enough good things about it. There is nothing out there like this and it is going to blow the readers away. Grab it before release day.
