Special Agent Luna Roosberg lives and breathes her job. Who needs a personal life when work is so rewarding? When a new case sends her to investigate a local motorcycle club, covering as the president’s new flavor of the week, the lines between professional and personal quickly start to blur. Although the Arrow’s Edge MC stays mostly on the right side of the law since Ouray took the gavel, the … Ouray took the gavel, the appearance of the feds at their gate can still rattle his cage.
When a string of robberies points squarely in Ouray’s direction, he’s forced to cooperate and put the blonde, prim and proper half-pint on the back of his bike.
With pressure mounting both in—and outside—the club, Ouray no longer knows who he can trust, except the woman who is shaking up his life—and stirring his blood.

Once again Ms. Barker has written an amazing story that evokes a full range of emotions- Luna and Ouray’s story is one of my favorite books by this author so far. Now to try to find the right words to do it justice…
Luna has made keeping people at arms length into an art form. Her FBI team is the closest to her, but even they don’t know a lot about her with the exception of Damian. He sees the sparks that fly between the reserved Luna and a cocky biker. When he needs to get someone on the inside of the MC as part of an investigation, his scheming (read: matchmaking) mind sees a solution that may just solve the case and allow Luna to find a little happiness.
Ouray has spent years taking the Arrows Edge MC from outlaw biker gang to legitimate club while still allowing the members to live with the freedom they desire. In addition to their business ventures, they also rescue at-risk homeless boys from the streets and give them a chance at a home, education and family. The pint sized FBI agent with a chip on her shoulder the size of Colorado has unexpectedly piqued his interest so despite his initial reservations, he agrees to Damian’s plan to send Luna undercover as his woman in the hope of flushing out any traitors in his club.
Luna can certainly understand the appeal of the MC life and even longs for its freedom a bit herself. A traumatic experience in college left her with locked down emotions and a bit of fear when it comes to men along with a seriously prickly exterior. Ouray sparks her interest in a way that no other man has. What starts out as an act quickly evolves into something more, and she shocks herself by actually starting to let him in when he shows that he is much more than just a cocky biker. He has the ability to handle her with just the right amount of care and pushing her buttons to motivate her, and she offsets him well too. She adjusts well to his life but she has no idea how to handle it when the lines between personal and professional start to blur.
She also forms an unexpected connection to one of the club’s recent rescues, a deaf boy named Cody. Two damaged souls find a way to heal each other and I absolutely loved their relationship as they form a pseudo-family with Ouray! His own past led him to start helping these kids and now life comes full circle for him as he finds a special place in his heart for this boy.
Of course this all takes place against the backdrop of the investigation that sent Luna to Arrow’s Edge to begin with, and Hwy 550 has plenty of suspense and action to go along with the heat and heartwarming moments. Once again Ms. Barker skillfully weaves together connections between the characters and plot points in unexpected ways that actually caught me by surprise a time or two! All in all, this was a great story that can easily be read as a standalone – if you haven’t read any of her stories yet, Hwy 550 can be a wonderful introduction to her worlds!
Book three of the Rock Point series, and I do suggest reading the previous books… and also Burning for Autumn… which is the start of a different series, but all the characters return and are in this story and have a role of some sort…. it just makes this a smoother read and not wonder who this person is and so on. Luna can be described as a kick butt and take charge person, she basically has no life outside of her job. In the first book we saw some sparks with Ouray when they went up to his compound to question him. Those sparks are still there, but for Luna its more sparks of irritation. When Luna is to integrate herself into the MC with Ouray’s help, things start off a bit tense. Luna has never been in a relationship and so things are a bit odd to her.. Ouray hasn’t had anything serious either, so the two must figure out how to play the part or the truth will be figured out quickly. What happens when the fake relationship starts to become a real one? Will Luna lose focus of the job she was sent to do?
I FLOVED this story so much! Freya Barker does MC and it freaking rocked! This has all the feels; danger, mystery, suspense, some awww moments, and some naughty bits that were on fire! This played like a movie in my head and it was amazing. I give this 5 stars.
I finished this book with the biggest smile on my face!!!!
Freya Barker keeps raising the bar when it comes to her books….
I’ll be the first to admit that I found it hard to connect or understand Luna Roosberg when we’ve previously met her in the series. I could never quite put my finger on why I couldn’t get a handle on her but Ms B worked her magic as usual and pretty much from the outset of HWY 550 and Luna’s character totally won me round.
She’s tough and brusque on the outside but we soon discover that this hardshell covers a very different woman!
Ouray….man, what can I say about this guy!! He’s kinda brusque and tough himself but that’s a given seeing as he’s the president of an MC club, but he’s another one who has a completely different hidden centre, it’s just taken one particular woman to bring it to the fore (not that he lets everyone see the sweet, protective side of him that Luna releases – he has an image to protect after all!)
With a couple of interesting and complex storylines running through the story, there was plenty of action and characters, new and old, that all added to the fun and made for a fabulous read. Hot, steamy and a touch of sweet with a load of heart, Freya let us catch up with favourites from previous stories and teasingly introduces us to a possible couple for a future book in the series….. YAY!!
As well written as you would most definitely expect from FB, this was another excellent instalment in the La Plana County FBI ROCK POINT series and I cannot wait to see what happens next!
5*
Ahhh!!! Back in La Plata County!!!! I have been so ready for Luna’s story!!!!
Let me start: My first book from Ms. Barker was Keeping 6, which I devoured in a matter of days and immediately picked up Cabin 12….both recommendations from a friend.
When given the opportunity to read HWY 550, I jumped at the chance! We are introduced to Luna in Cabin 12; I didn’t think she had a story but I was fooled!
I love a great book where the heroine can hold her own when up against strong men and Luna was more than capable! But wait…..she comes up against a strong, ALPHA biker, Ouray (Little side note, love his name!!!), who wants nothing more to peel back the layers that Luna has built around her heart. Is he determined!!!!!
Ouray may be a rough biker dude….but, oh when he says things…..I just want to swoon!!!!

Oh Lordy…..I love nothing better than a bad ass biker with a heart of gold. Seriously…..I’m swooning.
Luna is a loner, tough as nails FBI agent that’s married to her job. Don’t let her petite size fool you. She will LAY YOU OUT.
Ouray is chief of the Arrow’s Head MC. He’s 48, single and lives his life by his rules. He loves his MC family. He has pulled them out of their darker days and has the MC on the right track. Unfortunately, there are things happening and he’s asked to help in an FBI investigation…..Asked to help Luna investigate.
There’s something special about all of Ms Barkers books. They aren’t just an amazing romance book. They have suspense, twists and turns you try (and usually fail) to figure out and so much heart. HWY 550 is exactly what you would expect it to be. Addictive….Fast paced….Full of surprises….and so damn good. Loved it!!!

Wow! This series just keeps getting better and better! I adore this Rock Point series with its alpha men and strong, smart heroines. I had pretty high expectations going into this one, having so loved the other books in this series. I was not disappointed. Ouray is a hero who is a rough-around-the-edges, gruff MC President of the local biker club. Luna is an FBI agent, bad ass heroine. They were the perfect match. The suspense plot was intriguing and kept me turning the pages way past my bedtime. The villain(s?) in the story arc surprised me. And delighted me that I was surprised. I have been a huge fan of Ms. Barkers for several years. I can always count on a well-written story, sweet, steamy romance and a heart-warming HEA. Great romantic suspense? Right here, people.

I’ve been waiting awhile to read Luna’s story and it did not disappoint. She’s an 5 foot tall FBI agent who can hold her own. My favorite type of character. There was a ton of twists, mystery and suspense in this one. When I thought everything was solved, there was another surprise connection at the end. Loved Ouray from the beginning when he was signing to the deaf child. These two were perfect for each other. Then I read the sneak peak from Book 2 in the On Call series and can’t wait for Joe and Ollie’s story.
READING PROGRESS
Freya Barker does another stellar job with her latest in the Rock Point Series, HWY 550. As if I couldn’t possibly swoon any more over her ever-growing list of male leads who check off every single box in my book boyfriend world, she goes ahead and kicks it up a notch and creates Ouray, president of Arrow’s Edge MC.
I love MC romance books and HWY 550, specifically, would definitely be included in that genre. It just so happens that our FBI friends and local PD from the two books prior in this incredible series, Keeping Six and Cabin 12, find themselves looking for those responsible for a string of robberies that could be connected to the MC.
Enter FBI agent Luna Roosberg. This pint-sized, sassy, badass, firecracker of an agent could kick anyone’s ass in a fight or with her sharp tongue. Luna has been an intriguing side character in Freya’s past books, and I’m so glad she’s finally gotten her own story. I had more laughs with this book as Luna goes undercover and completely out of her comfort zone when she takes off her proper FBI wear and morphs into a hot-looking biker chick.
Well, that did more than catch the attention of Ouray. This is where the fun begins. Luna is a woman who constantly fights to erase the stigma of a woman in a “man’s job.” Believe me, she does it spectacularly, but the biker world is much the same, which doesn’t sit well AT ALL with Luna. The banter back and forth between the bikers, their prez, and Luna is priceless.
Little by little, Ouray and Luna become civil to one another the more she understands the MC world and he respects her position and drive to do her job to its fullest. Ouray confides club business to her, which is an absolute MC no-no, and I had to remind myself that Luna needs this info for the investigation. While Luna emmerses herself into clubhouse life and learns more about the club members and their brotherhood, Freya adds a homeless boy to the story who is deaf and taken in by the MC. This act of kindness has been done before by the club, blurring the lines of how society passes judgement on those considered good or bad. The boy, Cody, quickly finds his way into Luna and Ouray’s hearts.
HWY 550 is simply another work of art from Freya Barker’s collection literary treasures. There are so many layers to the storyline as well as the characters. Sometimes the heroes of her books are those least expected. Ouray and Luna fight to do the right thing but it doesn’t come easy. Nothing worth fighting for ever does. Freya does an incredible job making two characters from opposite sides of the law come together, fall in love, and find their own kind of perfect.
Another outstanding read by my favorite word-spinner, the queen of suspense, sassy women, and the hot alpha men who love them. Freya Barker always leaves me wanting more, and she never disappoints. I highly recommend HWY 550. Five stars for me
I received this ARC for an honest review, and honest it certainly is.
HWY550 follows FBI agent Luna and Ouray, head of Arrow’s Edge MC. After a spate of armed robberies in which Ouray is being set up for Luna goes undercover in the MC as Ouray’s old lady. The sparks between them though are anything but fake. Luna has a troubled past which has made relationships and physical contact difficult for her. In an unlikely pairing Ouray offers her patience, support and makes her feel safe. That is until shes targeted to get to him. Another good book in the series.
HWY 550 is the third book in he Rock Point Series. Can be read as a standalone, as I missed the second book and I had no problem following this one. The story is a romantic, suspenseful, MC, FBI read. I love how this author writes books that have older characters that I can relate too. After reading Burning Autumn and meeting Luna, I knew I wanted to read this book. FBI Luna is all about the job. MC President Ouray has cleaned up his club and some members aren’t liking the change. Luna and Ouray have to work together, and boy do the sparks start flying. She sure kept him on his toes. This is so entertaining and enjoyable story to read.
I love books with strong female characters, especially when they’re a little bit broken too. Luna was a great female lead and I’ve been wanting Ouray’s since the character was introduced.
What we get here is world’s colliding and opposites attracting. But can it work in the long haul? This book has a wonderful blend of characters, suspenseful moments and some page melting scenes. If you’re like me you’ll want to read faster but never have the story end. Great read
