Friggin fabulous book!!!! I can’t say it enough how much I adore this fantabulous series!!!! From book 1 Stalking Jack The ripper to this 4 th and final book Capturing the devil. Audrey rose and Thomas are incredible and watching their journey has been intoxicating and I don’t think I will ever forget this couple!!! Kerri Maniscalco is a fabulous storyteller and her words flow with beauty and grace. I have loved how she has taken intriguing characters from the past and brought them back to life. From Jack the ripper to dracula to houdini to the infamous H.H. Holmes. I’ve watched and read a lot about the connection between Jack the ripper and americas first seriel killer HH holmes and loved how Kerri interwove it into capturing the devil. I don’t know how many times I stopped reading this book just so I could take a deep breath! So many twists and turns for these lovers, but Kerri did a awesome job on wrapping up their story. Also we got to read more about the mysterious and sexy bad boy Ayden!!! I would love to read more about him,I need to know more about his past. He is a very intriguing character with many secrets. Can’t wait to see what’s next for this amazingly talented writer! Until next time luv’s
This book was definitely my favorite in the series. The entire series was fun and I still think this would make a great TV series or movie, if they not change Thomas and Audrey Rose.
While all things come to an end in this book and thongs wrap up nicely , from all the books combined, there are still some pretty major plot twists in this book .
Like with all the other books, in this book we get the epic love story of Audrey Rose and Thomas but also humor, action, gore and twist and turns on every corner, The book like others is fast paced. I loved that we didn’t know until the end if they are truly getting their HEA or not.
Overall I loved this book and series, and truly will miss these characters.
I rate it 5
The last book had me slightly on edge in certain parts due to the sort of love triangle thing going on, so I was hoping this one would be smooth sailing with my favorite duo, Thomas and Audrey!
Thomas is probably one of my favorite male book characters ever, and he was his normal witty and awesome self here! I loved the banter between him and Audrey! At times, I did get frustrated with Audrey but it’s been like that this whole series, but I really do like her!
There was some great mystery here and some neat reveals! My favorite part was the swoon, though! Oh, and there was some serious swoon! I also hated Thomas’s father, and hate is probably a nice word about that gent!
Kerri just has such wonderful writing and description that keep me captivated page by bloody page! And yes, there was plenty mention of blood! Overall, I adored this one so much and can’t wait to read more books from Maniscalco!
It’s missing something
First of all, I did not hate this book. I would have given it 4 stars if I had not read the other books in this series. I expected another gripping case with an emphasis on Audrey Rose’s forensic work, but instead, I encountered yet another love triangle (if you can call it that) that was okay – but not necessary.
To conclude, the stories’ focus gradually shifts from forensic science towards romantic conflict throughout the series. I would still recommend this book to everyone who enjoyed the first three volumes since the cases do keep coming, even though they (the cases) are not focused on as much as I would have liked them to be.
After surviving the deadly voyage across the Atlantic aboard the RMS Etruria, Audrey Rose and Thomas have arrived in America. From New York to Chicago dangers lurk in the cities’ shadows. Facing their most dangerous case yet, they will track a killer both inventive and terrifying, yet startlingly familiar.

I’m going to start of by saying that this is one of my favorite series. I very much enjoyed the first two in the series, but Escaping from Houdini was not great for me and so I was nervous for Capturing the Devil, the final book in the series. But I was worried for nothing, I found this book to be much stronger than the last. I was so happy with the way that things worked out, especially between Audrey Rose and Thomas. So glad that the unnecessary love-triangle really took a back burner. Not to say that there is no love-triangle this time around but it wasn’t the entirety of the book like in Capturing the Devil.
This book really brought the entire series together, tying together several storylines that were unresolved. Therefore I feel like I can’t really say anything without giving any spoilers, so I should just leave the review at this.
I will say however that compared to the last in the series, I was very happy with this book. But I will also admit that it had a very strong start and a strong ending but it dragged quite a bit in between. Overall I’m very content with how this series was concluded and I would recommend this book and series. I look forward to seeing more from Kerri Maniscalco in the future.
At first, it’s more focused on Audrey Rose and Thomas’ relationship rather than the murderer and murders. The solving murders is the focus of the second half. In the first half, I was sweating on whether or not they were going to solve the murder on a whim, that it wouldn’t be like the previous books where solving the crime was prominent. But I was thrilled to see the change in the second half. I think the switch between focuses was beautifully done.
This book was great and oh my god tears were in my eyes and my heart was being torn and patched repeatedly. I loved it! I think this book may be my second favorite in the series (not that I can rank the books. I love them all, but HPD is first).
I love how Audrey respects herself and her family. She cares about the family name and doesn’t want to put her family in a bad light, and she believes in her self worth. I found it makes her an even better role model. I also love how hard Thomas fights for what he wants and who he loves. His drive is heartwarming and is a great show of character.
There was a twist I didn’t see coming and it absolutely destroyed me. I love being destroyed though, so I enjoyed it.
I think this book highlights that you should be careful what you wish for. At the start,
– SPOILER –
Audrey was itching for a murder mystery to solve, and once she has one, she is wishing for death to not invade *something*.
– SPOILER ENDED –
Events and characters from the previous books make an appearance/reference in this book and I love love love how it tied them all together! It warmed my heart and gave me the close I needed.
This was thoroughly intriguing and entertaining!! I absolutely loved devouring the crumbs that Ms. Maniscalco weaved along the way. I felt like I was right alongside Audrey Rose as she and Thomas pieced this bloody puzzle together. I loved seeing this morbid couple come together in all ways. While this was steamy, it was tastefully done. I found the idea of a handicapped heroine extremely endearing and made Audrey Rose so much more humanesque. Thomas is utterly delightful. His wit and yearning makes him the perfect leading man. He really just needs a mama’s hug. I enjoyed the inventive elements laced with facts. It takes a very clever person to achieve that properly. I came away feeling satisfied with this conclusion but also with an ache in my heart to have more Cressworth. I can’t wait to see what this brilliant author brings us next!!
Yes! I really loved Capturing the Devil. This was a great step up from Escaping from Houdini. What was great about this one is that Kerri didn’t tiptoe around the event of the last book even though I really did not like that book. Audrey must still face the decisions she made in that book and how it affected Thomas.
Thomas definitely becomes more vulnerable and we see this this unguarded side of him. I love how it brings Cresswell and Audrey Rose even closer. Even with a wrench being thrown into their happiness. They become an even more united from in this book as they everything around them is turned into chaos. It was great.
The thing that really made this book perfection to me was the fact that it ties in with the first book as as there is a Jack the Ripper killer on the loose and Audrey Rose must look to her brother’s journals to discover who the devil is. They were always steps behind and faced road blocks with every lead they had. That made this mystery so great to me. It was exciting and dark.
Capturing the devil was a fantastic. It brings me back to the reason why I fell in love with this series. Kerri Maniscalco did an amazing job with this one. It might be my new favorite of the series.
This is the final book in the Stalking Jack the Ripper series.
I must say the author did a lot of research on different theories regarding Jack the Ripper. Even the American connection, which as a person growing up fascinated by the longest unsolved case still open at Scotland Yard, I was in nerd heaven. Serial Killers, aside I left this book so happy with the end.
I absolutely adore Thomas and Audrey Rose. Oh and Audrey’s grandmother now we all know where she gets her spunk from. I have to say I loved watching her grandmother knock Thomas’s father down a few pegs.
I am going to admit to something that I only realized at the end and couldn’t believe I missed it until then but these two characters are very Holmesish how did I not see this but it does help explain some of my love of the story.
I won’t lie I hope we get a spin-off series sometime in the future about Thomas and Audrey’s future endeavors.
If you haven’t picked up this series yet and you like historical fiction based in this time period you really should.
Wow. What a conclusion!
Audrey Rose and Thomas are in New York and on the case of another serial killer. They realize that the murders are almost like Jack the Ripper’s and that his case might not actually be closed. They are also planning their wedding which encounters some huge hurdles that they never imagined. .
I really enjoyed this conclusion. These two are still one of my favorite couples. They are just perfect for each other and make a kickass team. I really love Audrey Rose. She is ahead of her times and really tries to not let society control her happiness. Audrey Rose is struggling to deal with her new mobility issues, PTSD from the previous cases, finding the killer, and dealing with her marriage to Thomas. This was a lot for her to handle but she held up and caught the killer in the end and married her best friend.
Thomas struggled to control his fear of losing Audrey Rose in this one. Which really just showed how human he was and not the monster he is always afraid he is. I do wish we had seen some of the scenes from his POV, especially at the end.
This book was a rollercoaster of emotion and I enjoyed every second of it. I am sad to see this series end but it ended on a strong note. I can easily imagine these two taking cases and catching killers in the future.

Review:
I started this book at midnight, the second it hit my kindle. This was honestly one of my most anticipated reads of this year. I planned to read just a few chapters before going to bed but then that plot twist hit and I had to keep on reading. I finished at 4am in the morning.
The book was really good! Now I’m a bit sad that it’s over though.
What is this book about:
The book starts off where the last one ended. Audrey-Rose and Thomas just arrived in America and discovered they, well not they personally but the ship they where on, delivered America it’s own Jack the Ripper.
Things seem to be progressing well between Audrey Rose and Thomas. They are back on track after their hick up in book 3, but not everyone seems to be on board with their love. Someone is willing to do whatever it takes to make sure they don’t get married.
With a race against the clock Audrey Rose and Thomas are trying to catch the Devil before he kills again and before everything they worked for, everything they wanted gets ripped away from them.
What did I love about this book:
I love Audrey Rose and Thomas’s relationship. They are for sure one of my OTP. I love their growth and how they worked together.
My heart stopped at their wedding. For those of you who read the book, you’ll know why. I honestly sped read through the rest of the book because I had to know how things would work out. How they could possibly fix the damage.
I hated Thomas’s father so so so much. I can’t phantom why he would do that to his on child, to his own children. By the end I was still so mad at him, and I couldn’t grasp why Audrey Rose and Thomas let him be at their wedding in the end. Like my god, I would have tossed his sorry ass off a cliff and call it an accident.
Overall it was a great conclusion to the series. The series took a twist I didn’t expect when I read the first book. Everything came together so well.
Kerri has raw skill and talent, it’s amazing that this is her first series. I can’t wait to see what else she can come up with.
Rating:
5 amazing stars
I stayed up late on a work night to finish because it is very hard to put down. Then I needed a day to process my thoughts. This was definitely the darkest and most macabre if all the books. Maniscalco does a phenomenal job of bringing the story of Jack the Ripper to a close. She intertwines facts, fiction and speculation brilliantly.
