Book 2 in the Beauty in Flight series: Harper’s second chance at life will become a second stint in prison if anyone connects those two dead men to her. Nutfield, New Hampshire, is as good a place as any to hide from the murderer Harper left behind in Maryland. All she has to do is lie low and make enough money to keep herself and Red alive until she can figure out who her enemies are.Jack Rossi … alive until she can figure out who her enemies are.
Jack Rossi isn’t sure what to make of his beautiful new tenant and her confused grandfather. Something’s not right, but the love he sees between them and the care she takes of the old man convinces Jack they’re trustworthy. As drawn as he is to Harper, she’s his tenant, so she’s off limits.
Derrick, Harper’s ex-boyfriend and Red’s grandson, needs to find his grandfather and get his hands on the old man’s money before Derrick ends up with a bullet in the skull. And when he gets his hands on Harper, she’ll be sorry for what she’s put him through.
Harper and Jack grow closer, but so do her enemies. If Harper can’t trust Jack with the truth, she may lose more than just this glimpse of true love. She may lose her freedom—or her life.

I read Beauty in flight and couldn’t wait until this second book came out. Harper had served two years in prison for driving a getaway car from a murder that she was not involved in. She became the caregiver for Red an 85 year old man with a murderous grandson. I can’t wait for the last installment.
This time around for the second installment in this series by Robin Patchen, Beauty in Hiding flowed more like a suspense novel. Harper was looking over her shoulder, and Derrick was digging himself deeper and deeper into trouble. The tension was hiked up more and had me flipping through the pages quickly, wanting to see how the story would end. The romance between Harper and Jake kept growing as the story progressed. One of my favorite aspects of the entire series is that Patchen is NOT completing the mystery by the end of the first or even the second novel. I am really glad the story keeps us in suspense. Of course, readers have to wait for the next one and hopefully, remember what happened last time. I really wish more suspense authors would do this. Terri Blackstock has done it and now Patchen with this series. Overall, Beauty in Hiding was a much better set-up for the suspense genre than the first one, and definitely kept my attention. Fans of Terri Blackstock, Lynette Eason, and DiAnn Mills, I believe, should pick up this novel.
I received a complimentary copy of Beauty in Hiding by Robin Patchen for the JustRead tours, but the opinions stated are all my own.
This series continues as Harper leaves Maryland with Red.
I loved the storyline with plenty of suspense, twists and turns with interesting characters.
This book should be read as part of a series to better understand the characters.
This book is recommended for those who love Christian suspense with an inspirational message.
A great second book in the series!
Harper and Red, on the run after the murders in Maryland (Book #1), find a house to rent in Nutfield, NH. Their new landlord, Jack Rossi, is a caring man but curious that there seems more to his new tenants than meets the eye. He is drawn to them, but Harper’s recent experiences have made trusting men even less likely. Derrick, Harper’s ex-boyfriend and Red’s grandson, is desperate to find them for his own future well-being, not theirs.
There is a lot of action and a touch of romance which make for an interesting read. Harper is still building her fledgling relationship with God and her past experiences have made it harder.
Read Book #1 first or you won’t keep up with this one since it isn’t a stand-alone novel. That’s the only thing I didn’t like about this book otherwise, I enjoyed it and hope there is another one. I received a complimentary copy but my opinions are honest and voluntary.
Ex convict Harper has settled into her job of caring for Derrick’s grandfather, Red. She loves the old man like her own family. Things aren’t right with Derrick, her ex boyfriend and just as she suspects he’s trying to poison his grandfather, she finds two dead bodies in the house. Added to the fact that she also feels like she’s being watched, Harper has to protect Red and quickly hatches a plan to escape Maryland taking him with her.
Jack is just starting to get his feet wet in real estate in the small town of Nutfield and rents the small house he fixed up next door to a woman he’s never met. When he meets Harper and Red he’s drawn to both of them but as he gets to know them things just don’t add up. What is really going on in the house next door?
Derrick is searching for Red and his own life depends on finding him. He needs his money and he won’t give up. Where would Harper have taken Him?
Hold onto your hat as Robin takes you for a suspenseful ride in the second book in the Beauty in Flight series.
This was a great second book in the Beauty trilogy. I once again was drawn back into Harper’s story as she is doing what she thinks is best and keeping her charge, Red, safe. I love how she shows that she has turned from her past, yet she continues to have difficulty trusting men. Jack was a man of integrity that looks out for his new tenants. I loved seeing his compassion for Harper and Red. Harper is on the run from her ex, who happens to be Red’s grandson. Seeing what is going on in his life just added to the suspense of the story. Once again, the story ends on a cliffhanger, but it left me with a sense of “things are going to be okay.” Overall this was a great book that delves into learning to trust and letting others in.
I received a copy of this book. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Could not put this second book in the series down. Excellent read!
Robin Patchen has done it again. This a wonderful book. It is full of action and suspense. Once you start reading it you can’t put it down.
What a fantastic ride! This is the 2nd book in the Beauty in Flight series. While this one would probably make sense as a stand-alone, you really should read the first book in order to get the history before reading this one. This book starts where the first one left off. Harper has taken Red and fled for their lives. She ends up in Nutfield, NH (fans of the author’s Hidden Truths series will find that town to be familiar – and some familiar faces show up as well!) in order to go into hiding and stay off the grid. Jack Rossi is a newcomer to Nutfield, making his way renting properties in the quaint vacation town. When he gets a request on the house he listed 3 days ago in off-season, he jumps at it after a quick credit check. Little does he know that his new tenants will change his whole world. And to add to the mix, Red’s grandson Derrick has become more desperate. This book was filled with action and suspense with just the right touch of romance. I would highly recommend this series for fans of inspirational romantic suspense! I can’t wait to see what happens next!
Special thanks to the author for an advance copy of this e-book. I was not required to write a review and the thoughts and opinions contained herein are my own.
What I didn’t like about this book? It ended. I love Robin Patchen’s novels and it’s fun to have some old friends join in. I’m looking forward to the conclusion of this series because I have to admit. I flew through this one. I needed to know. Once again, enjoyable.
Hannah and Red are finally safe in Nuffield or so Hannah thinks. She got a job to pay their bills and Red can stay in the rec center during the day, and Jack, their landlord is helping them. But the danger is just around the corner and when the truth will be out, will Hannah be truly safe or she must run again?
Beauty In Hiding by Robin Patchen follows Beauty In Flight. Harper has difficulty trusting. Especially men. And with good cause. The ones she’s trusted have brought her nothing but trouble. The last man she trusted may even cost her her life.
It’s difficult to take me by surprise. But Robin repeatedly brings into her plots surprises I did not see coming. Keeping me on my toes and making the story line exciting.
I loved this book! It was an edge of your seat suspenseful book! The words just flowed like honey onto the page. It was also a clean and christian book which I really appreciate. i really look forward to reading the last book in the series as well.
Great series ! Love the characters and their interaction . Awaiting the next book , Check out this author’s stories , she nails it with suspense, faith and clean romance !
-‘He watched her, his eyes pleading, begging. For what, she wished she didn’t know. But she did know what he wanted, and she knew exactly what it would cost to give it to him. “I’m sorry.” He turned, walked toward the front door. She didn’t move, couldn’t bring herself to watch him leave.’-
This story dives right in from where the previous story left off. If you didn’t read the first one, you need to read it before this one because these stories are not standalone, they are definitely a series and must be read in order. At this point in the story, Harper and Red are on the run from Derrick and the goons who are connected to him through the loan sharks. Harper tries some evasive moves so that they cannot be tracked and finds a safe place for them to stay for a while. She finds a part-time job and starts to make friends with the landlord. Red’s health improves slowly and his memory seems to have longer stretches. Just when Harper begins to feel like they are settling in and perhaps they could make things work out for the best in the small town…Someone she is trying to escape from, someone who wants them both dead… finds out where they are hiding… at the same time the cops find out about her. Who will get to her first? And will she escape once again?
I am completely addicted to this series! I can’t wait to read the conclusion! Fantastic storyline.
Robin Patchen is a consumate author. This book is riveting, unpredictable, poignant, complicated and highly readable. This is the second book in a series of three and it, like the first one, was hard to put down. I can’t wait to read the third book.
The plot of this book followed the typical recipe, which I often enjoy, of damsel in distress with a knight to rescue her. However there was a different twist that made it more interesting and compelling. I also appreciated the realistic way the story portrayed the gospel and Christian development. I was not a case of getting saved and all the problems are gone. As the characters faced their own struggles I was encouraged.
This is the second book in a three book series. Usually each book tells a story and the next book starts a new story, possibly with the same or related characters. The biggest complaint I have this series it is that none of the books can stand alone. The first two end with cliff hangers. When that happens I feel deceived and angry. That is the reason I gave it only three stars. If the books had been condensed a little (there was enough repetition to do that) and published as one, I would have given it a much higher score
A young woman with a rough past puts herself in danger to protect her elderly charge from harm. Along the way, she found faith & friends
Just when Harper has settled in well at Derrick’s grandfather’s home in Maryland and she and the old man are becoming quite close, the author kicks the story up a notch and sends them on the run after the particularly disturbing events of one evening. It is evident that someone is out to get Harper or at least point the finger at her for murder and she can think of nothing but protecting Red. Derrick is beginning to show his true colors and Harper does not trust him – even with his own grandfather. As they hide out in a small New Hampshire town, their landlord finds himself becoming involved with Harper and Red against his better judgement.
Although the first book in this series left readers with a serious cliffhanger, the author does not disappoint in the fast-paced Beauty in Hiding. Action and danger abound as Harper does everything she can to keep herself and Red safe. It’s also fun to watch a romance develop between Harper and Jack despite their best efforts to avoid it.
Great suspense series that had its hold on me by this second installment. Once again – get the entire series before you begin reading because you will not want to stop until the end.
