From New York Times best selling author, Kelly Elliott, comes a new series her Wanted fans will adore. Filled with love, hope, and second chances, Love at First Sight, is book one in the Southern Brides series. Each book in this series will be stand alone books. Love at first sight. That’s what it was when Rip Myers came up to me in kindergarten. From that point on, we were inseparable best … kindergarten. From that point on, we were inseparable best friends.
When I work up the courage to tell Rip I love him, I am met with rejection. He tells me he treasures our friendship too much. That statement might as well be a knife to my heart.
I want to hold out hope that he’ll change his mind.
Instead, he moves on.
The only choice I have is to pretend that doesn’t slay me.
So, I say yes…to the man I love. But he isn’t the man I’ve been in love with nearly my entire life.

I absolutely loved this book! I have been looking forward to Chloe’s story ever since I fell in love with her in Lost Love. Chloe and Rip had been best friends since kindergarten and in love with each other for years. Some things tore them apart until they both realized what they wanted. I loved how these two loved each other, I could feel their connection from just reading this beautiful story! Once again Kelly has blown me away with her words. Rip may have just taken Gunners spot as my favorite Kelly hero!
I freaking LOVE Kelly Elliott!!! This book is the first in the Southern Bride series, and just as I had hoped, it is all about the kids! That adorable little girl Chloe from Lost Love (Cowboys and Angels book 1) is all grown up and ready to get married!
You bet that there are the typical family outbursts, Patches is back, and Rip and Chloe are hot as all get out! Just love these books.
The road to happily ever after is littered with past regrets. Elliott takes off the blinders of first love and exposes a heart’s most painful secret. Love at First Sight begins in innocence and matures into heartache. Chloe and Rip are the best of friends, until a pained revelation sets their lives on different courses. Will destiny guide them back to each other? Or have the emotions of the past become a breach that can never be healed? Love at First Sight is a lesson in learning what love is. Elliott dissects the heart with a realism that is tragic, truthful and inspiring. The combination of Elliott, Chloe and Rip packs a one, two punch to the head, heart and soul.
This book was absolutely fantastic. For those readers who have read the Cowboys & Angels Series, this story was highly anticipated. We have wanted to hear Chloe’s story since we read about her in Lost Love.
I swear Kelly Elliott is trying to make me cry more and more with every book she writes. Some tears were happy, some were hard to get through, however the story turned our wonderfully.
Chloe pours her heart out to Rip to only get it broke, all because Rip doesn’t know how to move fast enough…LOL. They both try to move on, but in the end they know where their hearts are, with each other.
Rip and Chloe are everything. Sure they were both stubborn and fearful to start a relationship, not wanting to lose their friendship, but when they came together, fire ignited.
Patches <3 - That is all I am going to say about that.
Rip shows his love for Chloe in so many ways, that man really knows how to listen and remember all the important things.
5 STAR READ!
I love me some Chloe!!!!!
I don’t know about y’all, but when little Chloe Parker told little Rip Myers back in the day in one of the Cowboys and Angels books she was “gonna marry him someday”, I was really hoping that Kelly Elliott would do us all a solid and write that book!!! Well lucky for us she did and I freaking loved it!!!!
I won’t lie, there were a couple of times I wanted to jump into my ipad and slap one or both of them. I may or may have not screamed “Good lord, you guys are best friends just talk to each other, tell each other how you feel, get it on in one of the barns, just do it!” a couple of times. I might have been a little anxious with the time line just cuz I have been waiting, not so patiently, for this story lol…..
These two were such lovable characters and they belonged together and Kelly Elliott wrote us a beautiful love story in true Kelly Elliott fashion. I loved being able to go back in time with them and watching them grow up and come together, it really warmed my heart!
Of course getting bits and pieces of one of my favorite book families is always a plus too! I am sad to see the Parker era end, but hey, isn’t that what re-reads are for?! Thanks for another great read, Ms. Elliott!
So there is a song called Marry Me by Thomas Rhett and I swear she drew inspiration form this song. Anyway back to the review. This book was so cute I loved Chloe and Rip they were so cute. Sometimes when you read romances where they fall in love as kids you don’t feel a connection but this book did it so good. I loved there relationship as kids and how it progressed. I also loved how they threw in things from their childhood after the part that takes place in the past. The relationship was so cute. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was how they got together only after she ended her engagement. We all knew it wasn’t going to last. They had been in love forever but I still wanted more time in between.
I love when a new series starts and the book just sucks you in from the start. I have loved Chloe since she was introduced in The Cowboys and Angles Series, she was the cutest. She has been in love with Rip since she was young and that love only grew stronger as they grew into adulthood . Can the love between two best friend from childhood turn into an all consuming love from friends to lovers. They have their ups and down and have to find their way back to the simple fact they are meant to be together till the end of time. Bravo to Kelly Elliott for giving us another breathtakingly story.
I am so glad that J finally took the plunge and bumped this book up on my TBR. Even though this story isn’t very long, it was still amazing.
I also tend to have a soft spot for settings that take place in my home state. Growing up in a rural area surrounded by ranches made me a little more appreciative of the Chloe’s end decision.
Terrific
Chloe & Rio has been friends forever, been in love since they were teens, but neither admitted to each other. She finally tells him their first week of college but he got scared and they stayed that way until she started dating Easton. Too left school needing two credits to get his degree, Easton proposed the night before they were to go back home to her family ranch. He would go to Houston in a couple of days. But first love always seems to work out, and Easton loses.
3.5 Stars
I love this plot of this- best friends since childhood, Rip and Chloe were predestined to be together, but both are too nervous to take a risk and let the other know how he/she feels. Chloe, thinking that she and Rip will never be together, moves on and accepts a wedding proposal from another man. But these two still have unresolved feelings.
The writing of this was good. I liked the characters and the plot. But, I felt like overall, this story was a bit too sweet for me. I will read more from this author, but I think I’ll have to take it in smaller increments, not all at once.
This was my first Kelly Elliot book. I like her written style. I enjoyed the setting in this book, her description of the farm and surrounding areas was so good I often felt I was there with Chloe and Rip. It was a little to angsty for me, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing, it’s just my personal taste. This book will have your emotions trust me. Childhood best friends turned love is one of my favorite troupe and this book delivers well on that!
Aw I just loved reading about Chloe all grown up. Remember her running around as a little girl and saying the cutest stuff in the Cowboys & Angels series. Rip is such a true cowboy and romantic. Really enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read the next in the series.
Chloe has been in love with Rip since kindergarten but he keeps putting her in the friend zone, then one day she gets brave enough to tell him how she feels but it doesn’t end up the way she expects. Years later when Chloe comes home and brings her future with her, Rip knows he has to leap or lose the only women he has ever loved to his fears. I loved this story, it was all about the building of Rip and Chloe’s love for each other throughout their lives. I cried a few tears and felt Chloe’s yearning through the pages. This was my first read by Kelly Elliott but it won’t be my last. I can’t wait to read another book by her and fall in love all over again.
A gorgeous second chance story, with the beloved Chloe Cat (and Patches) from the Cowboys and Angels series. The emotional scenes, the passion, along with the deep feels had me tearing up one moment and fanning myself the next. There were hilarious moments that made me laugh out loud too. It was sexy, swoony, and utterly addictive! A must read!!!!
This book was EVERYTHING….. from the stunning cover to the beautiful words this book was PERFECTION! Kelly never fails to pour her heart out into these amazing characters and captivating stories and Love at First Sight was no exception! Chloe and Rip’s book was one that I have been looking forward to and one I was so enraptured with it I couldn’t put it down. Rip and Chloe meant everything to each other but when you fall in love with your bestfriend is it worth the risk of losing that friendship? The bond these two have is that once in a lifetime bond and a love that will have you swooning page after page. Prepare to fall in love with this story!
