Passion, regret, and destroying sofas all in the name of love.Private Investigator for the Newport Seagulls Clara Bell wants nothing to do with playoff hockey. She wants nothing to do with the speed of the game. She wants nothing to do with the fights. And she especially wants nothing to do with the players. When her boyfriend and diehard Newport Beach Seagulls fan takes Clara to the first game in … Seagulls fan takes Clara to the first game in the Stanley Cup Finals series, she is confronted with the fact that she never got closure with Dean. After a brief argument afterward, Bill drives off, leaving Clara stranded with no ride. Until Dean offers her his services and, against her better judgment, she finds herself accepting.
This is a bad idea. She has a boyfriend. She wants nothing to do with Dean. But one touch, and all the memories she kept buried underneath come flooding back to her, and she can’t deny there’s still something she feels for him.
Gritty defenseman Dean Morgan may have women in his bed and hockey on his mind, but there’s only one woman who’s ever managed to penetrate his heart: Clara Bell. When he finds her stranded in the parking lot after one of his games, he uses it as an opportunity to rekindle their friendship and talk trash on her boyfriend.
There’s still something there, at least for him, and he wants to go for it – especially since he was the reason they broke up those years ago. The problem? She has a boyfriend, he’s playing the Stanley Cup Finals, and he’s got a bad boy reputation to uphold.
Clara and Dean must decide whether a second chance at love is really worth all of the risk and sacrifice that will inevitably come with being together once again.

I am really enjoying this series. You can read any of the books on the series alone but starting at the beginning really helps provide with the story one in each book. Dean had dated Clara mine years and ago. They broke up because of his hockey career. It was heart breaking for boh. Dean never stopped having feelings for her no matter how hard he tried. Clara was dating a guy that loved hockey & want her to go with him but she never did until one night. That night changed her life for the better. Dean spotted her in the stands. That was the best night of her life & also the worst. The worst cause she had a fight with boyfriend & the best cause she got to be with the in she !never stopped loving, Dean. I e thing led to another she broke up with boyfriend and is now .living with the man she Never stopped thinking of who is p!dying towards the Stanley cup. Need to finish reading more to find out if they win. On to more reading of this series.

I really liked this book!
It is a second chance romance about Clara, a private detective and Dean, a famous hockey player. They were in a relationship 8-10 years before the events of this book but it ended very suddenly and sad when he got his big break and he didn’t ask her to follow him.
Now all these years later he is traded to the town where she lives. She has avoided seeing him but at one game night she is tricked into going by her boyfriend. When they see each other all the old feelings comes to the surface and they find out that non of them has totally moved on. So where do they stand now and how will her boyfriend/fiancé react when she tells him the truth about their relationship?
I loved Clara and Dean and they were perfect together. She never really fit with her boyfriend and he was also a very egotistical man who only did what he wanted but forgot and never asked about what she wanted.
There is a little bit of abuse and cheating in the book so if you don’t like that or are triggered by that then think about it before you read this book.
I can definitely recommend this book.
I got this book from Booksprout in exchange of an honest review.
This is book 7 in the In the Slapshot series and it features Clara and Dean. It’s been eight years since they last seen each other and the sparks are still there. There’s only one problem. Clara has a boyfriend. These two could start forest fires with as much sparks they’re setting off.
Their story is fantastic and could be a 5-Star read, if it were longer and more in depth. The characters are fabulous! The story line is also fabulous but it ends just when it was getting good. The playoffs! What happens? The story just ends.
This is great read that has great characters that are well developed and engaging and the storyline flowed smoothly from page one too the end.

I like that there was a little about Clara and her past relationship in the previous book. Clara’s story didn’t disappoint and I really enjoyed it.

Clara and Dean were in a relationship ten years before but broke up when he transferred to Florida and she was at college in Newport. Now Dean is back with the Seagulls and they run into each other at a hockey game she’s at with her boyfriend. This is a second chance love story with a hockey twist. I enjoyed reading Clara and Dean’s story and how they found their way back together.
This was a interesting read…just when I thought I knew what the hero was going to do he shocks me by not and choosing a better option!
Possible SPOILERS
Diana thought that she was finally in a great relationship with a man named Bill unfortunately that all went down hill when he found out about Diana’s ex Dean Morgan an NHL player. Love & trust went out the window and anger with something stepped in.
It was a strange thing to see for Dean seeing Diana at one of his games and with a guy…Dean still wants Diana even after all this time and when he sees Diana left alone in the parking lot after a game he wants to spend as much time with her as he can.
Diana won’t go back home after what happened between her and Bill but she has no where else to go and Dean has offered his place but….
This is romantic, intense and entertaining. Dean and Clara met and fell in love, then Dean signed with a team on the opposite coast. Clara didn’t want to have a long distance relationship, Dean didn’t think to ask her to go with him, so they broke up. Now, it’s 9 years later, and Dean is back and Clara’s boyfriend brings her to the Gulls first game of the final round of the playoffs. She tries to disguise herself so that Dean doesn’t recognize her, but he knows that it’s her anyway. It causes a problem between Clara and her boyfriend, and Dean comes to her aid. And both are struggling with the feelings they still have for each other. Dean is caring, protective and determined. Clara is feisty, stubborn and brave. I love their story, it’s sweet and heartwarming.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
