I really enjoyed this quick, light read! The H/h are just adorable together.
This is more novella length, not a full length book. It only took me a few hours to get through. I wish it had been a bit longer, and more fleshed out, but it was a pleasant way to spend a few hours. My only real negative for this book is I wish there had been a bit more to the ending. I’m sure it was due to time/word constraints, but it felt like it just ended rather abruptly. You get to the last chapter and all of a sudden things have been worked out, and the issues resolved. You’re told how it all happened, not shown.
But aside from that I did enjoy it, and will definitely be re-reading it! It’s perfect if you’re looking for something light, quirky, a bit funny, and quick to read. It’s one of those books that lets you turn off your brain for a bit. I found it to be a nice palate cleanser after some more serious and intense books I’d been reading prior to this series.
This is more of a PG-13 romance. There is one sexy scene, and there is some description, but mostly it’s just fade to black. Personally, I’d prefer more descriptive scenes, but that’s just a personal preference. The story was interesting enough to hold my attention without those types of scenes though. And that’s saying something as my usual book preference is PNR and paranormal erotica.
I’d suggest starting with the first book, as it might be a bit confusing to start with this one, though things are explained well enough that you could read this one and not be completely confused if you haven’t read the first book. And if you liked these books, I’d really recommend checking out the author’s Imp series. While I did like this series, I think the author’s writing is best in that series.
So, if you’re considering this book, I say go for it! You’ll enjoy it!
*I received a copy of this book for free, but any opinions are my own.*
I hardly know where to start with this one… maybe by complaining? The timing was terrible! Huh? Yep, I was right in the middle of a book – two actually – that I really wanted to finish but there it was, Warmongers & Wands. I tried to ignore it for a little while, but I made the fatal mistake of opening it to read “just a little” and it went downhill from there. I finished it PDQ. That’s a pretty high bottom complaint, don’t you think?
Now for the good news: It’s book 2 in a series that should be multiple books! That is good news and to be honest, somehow I didn’t think this witch would be #2 but alas, here she is and it’s great. Good news, part 2 – we have yet another demon/witch, or would it be witch/demon, combination. And it’s a good one, a great one… almost as good as the first hook up. It’s fun. It’s funny. The story is cool.
The final “Good News” item? It’s a Debra Dunbar book! I should have led with that and then I could have skipped writing the rest. Debra Dunbar – ‘nuff said.
