Josh has known tragedy, and still feels the impact of it years later, after losing his family at the age of twelve. Thankfully, he was adopted into a family that loved him, gave him what he needed – emotionally and in the form of comfort and support – and he learned to live again.
Where Josh experienced that at a later age, Emily had known it her whole life, until she was fifteen and things were altered in a horrific manner. Emily finds her own way to cope, and that’s by withdrawing, by hiding inside herself, and pasting a fake smile on her face, while knowing all along she’s broken. And then she meets Josh.
Josh and Emily cross paths when her brother finds his soulmate again. Josh knew immediately that Emily was his, but with that came the awareness that he’d need patience to prove that to her.
However, just because they’re fated to be doesn’t mean the journey will be without obstacles, a fact they learn as their pasts return to haunt them. Now they must each struggle against their personal demons while forging a new life together, a HEA the goal they both yearn to embrace.
Can Josh and Emily help each other heal? Will they be able to overcome their pasts in order to have a future? Or will it be too much to endure, the idea of being happy simply a dream that’s always meant to fade when they try to grab onto it?
One-click now and follow along as two people, both broken due to their own circumstances, discover they can be whole together. I like that we get to see both Josh and Emily deal with their pasts, that we watch as they start healing. I love how patient Josh is with Emily, knowing she needs time and that she’s worth it.- By Elizabeth

I have been sitting here trying to find the words to describe just how much I LOVED Josh and Emily but I’m not sure I can. I loved Josh in the first two books in The Forever Mine series but he completely stole my heart in this one with his patience and understanding he showed Emily. Their love for each other and chemistry was so powerful that I could not put this amazing book down and hated to see it end. I highly recommend you read this incredible series but each book can definitely be read as a standalone.
Another fantastic read! Josh and Emily’s story is full of emotion, a little drama and above all unconditional love.
Josh knew Emily was his soulmate from the moment he first laid eyes on her, but Emily wasn’t ready. He waits, and is infinitely patient with her as she struggles to overcome a painful past.
H.J. Marshall does an incredible job of writing characters that you can connect with and feel as if you are part of their lives. This is a standalone and you can get a great read with it by itself. However if you want to see how Emily and Josh’s story really began, as well as the stories of their family and friends, pick up The Hand That Holds Me and The Love That Heals Me.
Josh and Emily’s story is one of friendship that expands into a love story that is so touching. Josh wants more from Emily, but patiently waits for her to see him as more than a friend. Can they escape the past and find their future? Can Josh prove that he will always put her first? Grab this story today!

Let me start by saying that you should really read the first two books to gain all the emotions this story left me feeling.
It does touch on the sensitive topic of Emily’s past, which may have triggers for some who have been through similar situations.
It was, however, approached in a respectful and thoughtful way which is a credit to the author.
My ovaries are in overdrive after reading this book. Josh is all kinds of perfect. Sweet, caring, respectful, loving and sexy as sin.
Emily… beautiful, broken Emily… my admiration for this woman is immense – How she takes a chance, trusts and loves despite her harrowing past is truest inspiring.
“I can see how much you care about him, and how much he cares about you. Give him a chance if your heart is so inclined. Life is too short to live with regret and pain. Celebrate today, and let the rest work itself out tomorrow. I promise it will all be okay.”
This paragraph hit me in the chest like a ton of bricks. It really sums up the battle Josh and Emily both fought to find their HEA.
The journey there was not easy, it was full of longing, hesitation, lust, hurt, anger and many, many more emotions.
The attraction between the characters, the chemistry, was so intense, so raw and needy… and so freaking hot
I did feel a little disappointed by the end, I felt like there was more to the story- I wasn’t ready to let go of them both just yet…. please tell me there is more!
HJ Marshall has written my forever man in this book. I am so in love with Josh it is ridiculous, I obviously need professional help well played H. J. Marshall, well played. I would give you many more stars than the 5 that are on offer
