“I didn’t reply. I couldn’t. Seeing this man’s naked private parts had not rendered me speechless but watching him lick ice cream off his finger had.” – June TuckerJune Tucker doesn’t understand people. Numbers, data, and statistics? Those make sense. People? Not so much. In a town of Friday night fighters and moonshine-swilling line dancers, she’s the odd duck. And that suits her just fine. But … suits her just fine. But her sister and friends are pairing off, and the change is unsettling.
George “GT” Thompson was at the top of his game—one of the best receivers in football. But a career-ending injury sidelined him for good. Now he’s hoping to find relief in the healing waters of this tiny West Virginia town. And maybe an idea of what life has in store for him next.
He doesn’t expect the no-nonsense girl at the hot spring, telling him he’s not supposed to be there. And pointing out his sizeable… equipment.
George is fascinated by June, with her head full of statistics and blunt honesty. He appreciates her in a way most others don’t. And when the local missing persons case takes a shocking turn, he’s by Scooby-June’s side as she digs for the truth.
He was her fantasy receiver. Now he’s her real-life boyfriend. But as their relationship heats up, June worries she’s not capable of the kind of intimacy he needs. He’s convinced his campaign to get her out of her own head—to stop thinking and feel—will work. But his own crisis could drive them further apart.

I don’t even know where to begin!!!!!!! I loved this book soooooooo much!!! June & George are amazing! The dialogue between the two of them was absolutely perfect. I was very excited for June’s story and knew it would be special. It was so wonderful to see their relationship unfold. How George just “got” June and helped her grow to see what she had all along within her.
The Callie mystery continues and thanks to “Scooby-June” more is discovered.
Bootleg justice always for the win! Quality time with your Bodine’s and Tucker’s.
I cannot wait for the next one!!!
5 stop-thinking-just-feel stars!!
Gah!! My favourite book of the series – and that’s saying something since I adore this series!
“Something inside me didn’t work right. I was weird. Everyone knew it. I wasn’t built for human relationships.”
June Tucker has always known she’s different but her loved ones accept her for who she is. She’s a genius with numbers and stats, and says what she thinks. She doesn’t have a great track record when it comes to men but it’s never really bothered her. However, when her favourite fantasy football player appears in her town, there’s something about him that stirs some alien feelings in her – feelings that she struggles to deal with above a clinical level.
“She was probably the least flirtatious woman I’d ever met. So I had no idea why my dick was trying to cause a scene.”
George Thompson thought June was beautiful. Aside from her beauty, there was also something arresting about her and her manner. During their first verbal exchange, he’s hooked and intrigued by her. He realises that she’s different but, instead of repelling him, it draws him in. The more time he spends with her, the more he wants her. However, he realises that he needs to tread softly.
“Judging by his incoming trajectory, it seemed the optimal angle would be…And then our mouths touched, and my mind went blank.”
Oh, June! I adore her and I KNEW that her story would be flippin’ wonderful! She’s quirky, clever and wholly singular. She’s funny without meaning to be (the first scene between her and George was hilarious!), socially awkward, and literal, but she has a heart of gold and a razor-sharp brain. I loved her reaction to George and her journey of sexual discovery.
“There was a lot more to June Tucker than one might see at first glance. And if she’d let me, I wanted to be the guy to uncover it.”
George AKA GT is downright gorgeous! I loved his way with June. I loved that he really saw the real her – the woman she was beneath her quirkiness. He was completely fascinated by her, and just wanted to understand her and learn about her. He made a couple of hiccups along the way, but he was so sweet and sexy with her that the two of them totally melted my heart. ADORED this book so much!!
I knew June’s book would be amazing, but holy smokes! I think this may be my fave book in the series. Loved it so very much. I couldn’t have picked a better match for June than George. I absolutely love the way he gets her, loves her and lets her, be herself. His patience, his care, and the fact that he is drawn to her quirky nature makes me love him even more. Plus you will get a bit more insight into the Callie mystery. This is a fun, heartwarming read. So good!
I have never made a secret of my love for all things Bootleg Springs. I seriously love this series so much. With swoony romances, a quirky small town, amazing family and friendships, and a mystery that keeps me guessing, what’s not to love? Absolutely nothing! Bourbon Bliss is the fourth book in the series, and it is absolutely amazing.
I have been intrigued by June since the beginning of the series. She’s the quirky girl who is always on the outskirts. She is extremely literal and smart, but she is also funny and loyal to those she loves. I have been looking forward to this book for so long, but I’ve also been a little nervous for it to get here. Sometimes authors take the quirky character and either show us that they really weren’t that quirky afterall (you know, the misunderstood character), or they go so overboard with the quirkiness that the character becomes unbelievable, a caricature. However, my faith in Claire and Lucy told me to keep my hopes up. I’m so glad I did, because Claire has done our June Bug justice.
George and June are one of my favorite couples. Watching their love grow was so sweet and HOT! George was completely adorable. I mean who wouldn’t love a huge football player with a tiny bunny? I loved his patience and understanding. He got June. He saw her for who she was and didn’t try to change her. He didn’t love her for her quirks or in spite of them. He simply loved her. And I loved him for that! And June didn’t want George for his fame or status. She saw the man beneath it all. The man most of the world wasn’t all that interested in. I loved watching her get flustered by him. Watching her wrap her head around her feelings was adorable and occasionally heartbreaking.
Both of these characters had so much depth. I felt like we were peeling back layer after layer to see what they were really made of throughout this story. I think they were discovering who they were along the way too. I loved getting to see them in different lights. I also loved getting to see the rest of the Bodines and Tuckers. These two families are so intertwined, and I love each and every one of them.
The Callie Kendall investigation continues, and this book took us on so many twists and turns. I absolute love finding new clues and using them to update my theory on what happened. I can’t wait for new books and new evidence, but I’m also dreading finding out what happened because it will mean the end of Bootleg Springs. I’m not ready to let them go! Luckily, we still have two more books to look forward to!
I could go on and on about everything I love in this book and this series, but really, you need to grab a copy and experience it for yourself. The writing is fantastic, the characters are lovable, the town is quirky and fun, the romances will make you swoon, and the mystery will have you digging for clues! While you could read this as a standalone, I highly recommend starting at the beginning and bingeing your way through. Once you start, you won’t be able to stop!
Just when you think the next book in the series can’t be better than the last Claire proves you wrong. I knew June’s story would be amazing but I am not sure I can adequately tell you how inadequate the word “amazing” is for this story. June’s story reminds us all that there is someone out there in the world for everyone and someone will appreciate our “awkwardness” and love us for it not in spite of it. This story deserves all the 1-clicks it will get……all the stars for this one Claire Kingsley!!
The fourth in the Bootleg Springs series brings us June and her George. We first met June in Whiskey Chaser, she is Cassidy’s younger sister and tags along in the misadventures of Scarlett and the Bodine boys. She is fascinated with sports and numbers which leads to her following the stats of star football player “GT” George Thompson. After his injury he finds himself seeking solace and healing in the form of the hot springs in Bootleg. These two seem like polar opposites until we really get to know George. He is such a great compliment to June and all her little quirks. He just gets her in a way many don’t. I adored getting inside June’s head and sympathized with how truly alone she feels at times. Bourbon Bliss also brings us two steps closer and one step back on the Callie Kendall mystery. Things are starting to heat up and thanks to June more of the real story is starting to unravel. Each book in this series just gets better. Another must read!
This is a fantastic story. The plot is great, the mystery is heating up and we get to visit with all the character of Bootleg Springs but what really made me love this book are the main characters. George and June are so special and perfect together. June is a fascinating character but she never believed she would find someone who understood her and accepted her just as she was. But George is that person, he more than accepted her, he loved everything about her! We all need a George in our lives!
The Bootleg Springs series is phenomenal. There is suspense and romance, great friendships and steaminess. I can’t wait for the next two books!!
Another great book in this series. George and June are such a great couple. I can’t wait to see who is next.
Scientifically sound
Holy cow, did I ever love this book! June is such a wonderfully complex character, and so well written! June Bug, June Bot, Scooby June, whatever you want to call her, you can’t deny her beautiful big brain. Her struggle to understand human relationships, in all their forms, is so poignant and relatable. Always on the outside observing, calculating, wondering. Until George. Glorious George. Patient and kind George, who sees June and intuitively understands what she needs. George teaching June about love is the most moving thing I’ve ever read. Bootleg Springs Do-Over Prom? Come on!! It doesn’t get any better than that and seeing June blossom under George’s tender care was almost more than this old heart could take. And again the underlying mystery running through this series in all capital letters: WHAT HAPPENED TO CALLIE KENDALL?
Wow, June’s character really surprised me!!! I wasn’t sure how i would feel about this character, but WOW all she needed was her George….not to be confused with “George the Cat”.
June’s character must have been complex to write and to get inside her head…because she is so literal and analytical. To June a spade is a spade. George teaches June “To Feel not think” sometimes thinking can be your undoing.
George is the sweetest football player on the planet and i feel like we all want one of him. He says sweet things and organised a huge event just for June.
In the background Callie Kendall’s case is simmering and we get front row seats to read about Scooby June!!!
Fantastic read!!! Can’t wait for the next installment!!
June Tucker was always a little bit different than all of the other people in her sweet little town (and that’s saying something!) and she always felt a little bit in the outside of it all. That is until she runs into her MVP fantasy football player, recently retired George Thompson. From the moment he lays eyes on her, he knows she different in the best way possible and has to make sure he shows her how wonderful she is.
I absolutely loved June-Bug and George’s story! It was sweet, awkwardly sexy, funny as hell and packed full of the kind of craziness that you expect from Bootleg springs. It had me laughing, crying, swooning and anxious to see what happened next in the ongoing mystery of Callie Kendall.
I cannot wait to see what these two amazing authors have in store for us in the next installment of the Bootleg Springs series!!
Bootleggin life
This is book 4 in the bootleg series , and while I’m enjoying this series as a whole this book dragged a little bit for me .
June is different in terms of the way she relates to people , it’s not said but she acts like a person that has Aspergers. She awkward socially but super intelligent .
George is an injured foot ball player who career has just ended . He come to bootleg springs to recover and heal and somewhat falls in insta love with June . Well he’s atleaSt smitten from first site .
I didn’t connect with their ‘ chemistry ‘at all and subsequently got bored at times .
There were some good funny moments but compared to the other books so far I didn’t like it as much .
I would still recline d easing it if your reading the series as there’s some movement in the Callie mystery (though I’m pretty sure I know the answers there ) but I would guess that jumping ahead to jonahs story might catch you up anyway …
I couldn’t wait to read this book. I was going through the previous books, that I really enjoyed, as fast as I could in order to finally read June’s story. The book didn’t dissapoint and June’s pairing with George was actually surprising. An unlikely pair for sure, but while you keep reading, you cannot remember why you thought that they won’t work out in the beginning. June is who she is and what you see is what you get, but that’s why she is not everyone’s cup of tea. George on the other hand, is a really friendly and easy going fella and you cannot she this couple happening. Wrong, they are perfect together and the complement perfectly each other.
That was the best book so far and this series is getting better by the book.
One of my favorite things about this series, besides the quirky characters, is the mystery surrounding Callie. With each character’s story you get more of the puzzle…or more questions. Just when you think you have an idea the authors throw a twist. I loved June so much and George is the perfect fit for her. I look forward to more of them and the others I’ve grown to love.
Amazing
Every visit to Bootleg Springs is better than the last! June has been my favorite since the series began. She’s super smart, quirky, and direct. George was absolutely perfect for her. I can’t even say how much I loved their story. I can’t wait for the next one!!
4.5 Stars
June is such a fun character. I always love the quirky, socially awkward, semi nerdy heroines. Even more so when they get paired up with hot athletes. When I learned of GT’s injury in the last book I hoped they would find a way to bring George down to Bootleg Springs and hook him up with June and I was so happy that’s what happened. He’s a great addition to the men I’ve fallen for in Bootleg. (Seriously a big tough football player who has a tiny white fur ball as a pet, my bunny loving heart melted). The Callie Kendal mystery still has me wondering (my theory from the last book seems less likely now but we’ll see what happens.) Plus I love the little twist with Shelby being George’s sister. That’s leaving me so excited to dive into the next book. Love this series.
Where do I begin my review. First I really enjoy this series and even though each book stands somewhat alone it is really a series meant to be read in order to enjoy it fully. June has been one of my favorite supporting characters so it saddens me to say that I didn’t love her story. I enjoy a quirky character but it became rather exhausting to keep listening to June’s internal monologue about “not understanding humans”. I also knew that June wasn’t going to be an overly sexual woman but I frankly got tired of reading about it. George was a good introduction to the Bootleg Springs family. He’s a former pro football player that had a career ending injury and ended up coming to Bootleg Springs at the advice of his younger sister (hopefully we’ll see more of Shelby in the series). All the books in the series are written from dual POV and have an ongoing mystery that will not be solved in this book. I recommend reading the series to see what you think. It’s not a long book but I kept putting it down for a few days because I got bored. I borrowed it on KU and it’s a 3.5 star book in my opinion.
