Everything about this book was great. Exciting, great writing to help me see the characters and feel a closeness with them. The twists and turns added a lot to my enjoyment.
I would recommend it
I found this book to have engaging characters and a great story line. Definitely I will read other books in the series!
The story grabbed me & wouldn’t let me go u til 8 read the whole story.
This was a fantastic read. I loved the characters and the author does a fantastic job of getting you to know them and their strengths and weaknesses. It combines magic, voodoo, and dragon shifters into a wonderful bit of entertainment. She also captures the feelings and desires of people who know their time is numbered and how one feels when about your feelings and how you want to spend your time. Can’t wait for the next one in this series.
I have to admit that I did not fully read the synopsis of this book; I think I skimmed the synopsis back when I first saw it advertised. So, by the time I finished the second chapter, I was really excited by this book. I could tell that the storyline was going to be unlike anything I had read and I couldn’t wait to learn more about the MCs, especially Gabriel’s backstory. I fully expected to fall completely head over heels in love with this book, but that didn’t happen. As the book progressed, I had a difficult time fully connecting with the MCs. I also felt like I couldn’t get a good grasp on Raven’s personality. At times, I understood why she did the things she did. But other times, I had a hard time believing that a young woman who had spent the past 5 years relatively isolated and battling cancer would do some of the things she did. Also, at times, I felt like the story was a little disjointed, but I think that may be because the author was trying to give the reader a lot of information about Gabriel’s history, Emma’s history/ancestry, Paragon, and Crimson. I wonder if it would have been more helpful to have a prequel to cover some of the pertinent background information of the characters instead of trying to include all of it in this book. The book is written in 3rd person POV from Gabriel’s and Emma’s perspective, primarily; there are some sections in Crimson’s perspective. 3rd person POV is not my favorite style of writing, so that may also have affected my enjoyment of this book. I’m sure it seems like I didn’t like this book, but I really did. The issues I had are what kept this from being a 5 star read for me. I see a lot of potential for this series and think it could be amazing. I do look forward to seeing how the series will progress. I hope that we will get to meet the rest of Gabriel’s siblings in the future books (Book 2 features his brother Tobias). I’m also looking forward to seeing what they are going to do about what is going on in Gabriel’s home realm, Paragon. I’d also love to learn about Paragon (the world, society, people, etc). Once again, I see a lot of potential for this series to be pretty epic and I do look forward to reading the future books. I do recommend that anyone looking for a unique paranormal romance give this book/series a try.
