Everyone who knows me will tell you the same thing:Scarlett Marin is ruthless when it comes to business. They’re right.I’m the proud co-owner of an indie bookshop, and I didn’t get here the easy way.I fought for everything I have.My entire life revolves around making sure my shop succeeds.Nothing distracts me.I live and breathe for this shop.I don’t have time for love. That’s why I never expected … time for love.
That’s why I never expected to feel this way about finding the sexiest man alive in a bakery with flour on his cheek.
Gabriel Nowak.
Maker of the best chocolate croissant in the entire world.
Carefree, unattached.
Lives his life one day at a time.
My complete opposite.
He makes me forget about these walls I’ve built.
But he’s harboring a dark secret.
And when it suddenly becomes clear I have to choose between the future of my shop and a future with Gabe, I don’t know what to do.
The writing’s on the wall: letting feelings get in the way of business is a bad, bad idea.

Writing On The Wall is the first book of the Between the Covers romance series. Any of the four books can standalone, or you can read them in order to avoid minor character coupling spoilers! This series is completely safe. Enjoy!

This is a new author for me and I am happy to have discovered her. This book had a lot of feels, we have laughter but we also have some sadness. But I have to say the author did a great job in having us go thru the feelings with Gabe and how he was able to work thru his tragedy…huh such a sweety.. He was also able to help Scarlett get a life and stop living so rigid..a wonderful beginning to a new series..Enjoy!

Scarlett owns an independent bookstore with her sister Frankie. Scarlett is steadfast and committed to their business as Frankie is carefree and hardworking. Working alongside Austen (Frankie’s beloved dog), they have a couple of amazing workers in Eleanor and Nico. In the midst of preparing for a book reading event, Scarlett meets Gabe at her favorite bakery next door. Gabe is the nephew of her business neighbor, and his presence makes her lose her senses. Temporarily helping his uncle at his bakery, Gabe is taken with Scarlett and can’t help wanting to know more about her. As they spend time with one another, they realize that their intense connection is something that they both would like to pursue. Worthy!

Nice romance. I loved it.
Scarlett lives focused on her work, it’s the most important thing for her. Gabe doesn’t know what to do with his life after quitting his job. They meet and everything changes for both of them.
I loved Scarlett. She is a serious, professional, hardworking woman. She did not have a normal childhood and the only constant in her life was Frankie, her sister. She needs stability and her job gives it to her. She does not know she needs more. Have fun, live, not be aware of the phone. Gabe helps her discover all that. She feels good with him. He makes her smile, she feels safe, protected. Loved. And that frightens her. She’s not ready, she doesn’t think it will work.
I loved Gabe. He is different from her. Professional in his job, but it’s not the only thing he has in life. And, after quitting (he had to. He still feels guilty. It wasn’t his fault, but he thinks it was, and he still suffers from it), he doesn’t know what the next step will be. He likes Scarlett, he needs her in her life, but he thinks he’s not enough for her, that she needs someone more stable in her life.
I loved them together. They complement each other, they bring out the best in each other. They’ve only known each other for a short time, but it seems they’ve known each other forever. They see what the other is like, not the face they show to the world, but the real one. They can open up, tell what they have never told anyone. They fall in love, they decide to take the risk, although it’s not easy.
I hated to see them arguing, how they hurt each other. They should have been honest before, not take so long to say what was going on.
I loved Frankie. great sister, wonderful friend. I also loved Nico.
I recommend it.
I received an ARC from the author, and this is my honest review.
I am not too familiar with this author and took a chance reading this ARC, I am glad that I did. The main characters meet when the male needs a break from his regular job and goes to help a relative out. They both end up working next door to each other, and so the 2 strangers meet and see each other daily. Neither of the 2 of them were looking for a romance and so we follow them as they become familiar with the idea.

She knows she should not let him near but her heart tells her something else. He has secrets which may leave her with a very difficult choice. Him or her bookshop? What will she do? See her choice

Writing on the Wall, Book One, by author Rae Oakley is outstanding. I laughed and cried…some of the tears were from sadness and some from happiness. The author sure knows how to maneuver her way around a storyline.
In this book one the story focuses on Scarlett Marin, co-owner of a book store and Gabe, the nephew of the baker/owner of the Bakery next door to the book store. Gabe is back working for his uncle while taking a break from being a paramedic after a little girl died that he tended.
They storyline follows how this couple figure out were they fit with each other romantically, and for Scarlett, her business. Will they fit? What’s more important to them?
I loved, loved this story and definitely and wholeheartedly am recommending it for your reading pleasure and enjoyment. I can’t wait for book two which will focus on Scarlett’s sister, Frankie, who had most of the great comedic lines.

I love Gabe and Scarlett!!
After a tragic accident while working, Gabe decides he needs a break to get his head clear so he returns to his uncle’s bakery. When he meets Scarlett, the “Ice Queen”, he is immediately intrigued and finding himself wanting to get to know her better.
Scarlett owns a bookstore with her sister Frankie next door to Cooper’s Bakery. She is a beautiful, goal oriented woman. Her world revolves around the bookstore, leaving no room for anything else until she meets Gabe.
This is a cute, funny story and I can’t wait for the next book!! I will definitely be reading it once it’s live!!
