This has a cute premise and likeable characters – but for me – this really lacked an engaging story and should have ended well before it actually did. The narrator, Katherine Anderson, has a nice voice with a slight British accent and did a nice job.
Loved the characters and their development, their humor and integrity, and their desire to make a difference. Right up to Chapter 41 loved it. Then came the unnecessary steam. Yes, it was a wedding night but the steam added nothing to the story for me.
Margaret came to England as an orphan where she grew up as the daughter of a doctor and a lady. She has learned to appreciate the small things in life and to appreciate the goodness of others. If she finds a stray dog, she decides to keep it and give it a good home. However, the next day, her dog attacks another dog. The owner of that dog is the Duke of St Lawrence. He falls for her attitude, her straightforward opinion and enjoys that she does not realize who he is.
They meet each other every day when they both walk their dogs and a beautiful romance blossoms. When Edward asks her to become his bride, she does not know if she is up to the task of a duchess.
Nicely written book with the values and norms of that time. The innocent touches, the stealthy looks, the rising love. Simply amazing!

Ms. Jeleyne is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. I can always count on sweet, feel good books from her. Kiss Me, Your Grace definitely falls under that category. It is a lighthearted, charming book that kept me smiling throughout the whole story. The humorous and witty banter between Margaret and Edward made it all the more fun to read. Both characters were delightful and had such great personalities. Ms. Jeleyne’s descriptions were so vivid I could clearly picture each scene in my mind. The two dogs, Clover and Tiger, were adorable and had me laughing out loud many times with their antics. If you’re in the mood for a charming, lighthearted read, this is the perfect book. You will definitely finish it with a smile on your face. A very sweet story, indeed!

What’s not to love when two people from different worlds are brought together by the love for their dogs! It is a meet-cute regency style! I have read several books now by Allyson Jeleyne and I think this one has become my favorite. It was refreshing to read a book where two people meet, get to know each other and find a HEA. No big secret needing to be revealed or danger and drama from outside sources lurking behind the scenes, just a beautiful love story!! Thank you, Ms. Jeleyne for that!

This one is so cute.
This one is so cute I loved Margaret this character has a heart of gold. Then there is pup a little dog that attacked a bigger dog that just happens to belong to a duke and is a prize winner. I bet you can see where this leads. Edward, of course, is a bit of a stick in the mud but then things change for him. This book is like the pup it grabs hold of you and will not let go but trust me you will enjoy yourself. High praise for this delightful tale I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
The first book in the Cherrill Family series a well written story that kept me smiling as I read. I also found myself laughing at somethings that happened. Margaret Haselden and Edward the Duke of St. Lawrence’s story. I want to read the next book in this series.
A Duke and an orphan. Beautiful, funny love story. Margaret is the ward of a doctor and his lady wife who save her when her missionary parents died in India from illness. They became her guardians and have loved her since she was nine years old. Now twenty, Margaret is happy to live with them and they have not forced to find someone to marry. But when she takes in a scraggly homeless terrier and it bites a duke’s beloved dog on their first walk in the park, she meets someone whom she could love. But Edward is a duke and not of the same society as her. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a sweet charming story by an author I haven’t read before. This is a fairly quick read and the steady pace, wonderfully developed characters and well written plot seemed to make the time fly by and I had finished the book in no time at all. There is some humor and 2 adorable dogs in this period romance.

Margaret Haselden decided there was a prowler lurking outside her home after three nights She Informed Her Uncle Chas who sent her coachman to investigate no one found anything. Margaret knew that there was somebody there and her and her maid thought of a way to discover who it was, the maid didn’t like the idea though. Margaret snuck out of the house she was going to confront the prowler; someone had been rummaging in the garbage bends she called for him to come out no one answered. She called again, and out of the corner of her eye she saw someone behind the milk crates she longed for the crate it cell then it began to rattle and shake and danced across the pavement a small brown dog emerged from the great and Margaret fell in love the dog was no peeping Tom no prowler just a little hungry dog she picked them up and took and carried them into the house. So her in the maid went to the kitchen to bathe Clover after all that’s what she named the dog then all sorts of trouble occurred Clover didn’t want to bath he got loose they couldn’t catching and who should happen to come up on the scene her Uncle Chas who told them they were going to have to clean up the kitchen and not leave a mess for the servants when they came in the morning. The next morning Margaret and Susan took Clover for a walk in Regents Park. Edward, the 11th Duke of St. Lawrence was in the park walking his dog Tiger this was the Duke’s favorite part of the day. Margaret and Susan was walking Clover when he slipped his lead found Tiger and bit him in the back leg or hip area after the Duke got him off of Tiger Margaret reached out and grabbed Clover and he bit her then promptly buried himself in her skirts the Duke called him a rat or in a mongrel and told her that he should be in the stables the alley the gutter art the blood is sewer the dog was uncivilized and dangerous and shouldn’t be in a public park. Margaret offered to pay for the services of a veterinarian and the cost of his care Duke told her to keep her money of course now Margaret didn’t realize he was the Duke. Now to find out what else happens and who else Clover bites you have to read the book. And it’s a good book…
What a charming story that had me smiling and laughing in the first chapter! Margaret kept hearing something every night outside her window and thought they were rummaging in the trash and slinking around the house. Set to confront whoever it was, she finds instead a little terrior dog and brings him in. She names him Clover and he is very unrully! Let the fun begin!
Edward Cherrill, the Duke of St Lawrence loves his prize bulldog Tiger. Walking him in the park early one morning, this little terror runs out of the bushes and attacks Tiger! Of course Margaret catches up and tries to grab the little scoundrel! He gives her advice on trying to handle the dog and she is quiet contrite at what happened.
Fate and a pair of dogs brought these two together. Edward is such a by the book stern character.. “He was no mere Duke, he was the Duke. The eleventh Duke of St Lawrence, well known and respected.” So you see he came a long way to loosing up as they spent time together. But she was the orphan daughter of two missonaries and he was the Duke! Could the friendship they began go anywhere else?
Allyson Jeleyne has created a warmhearted tale that lightened my heart when I needed it most! Her descriptions and the lively banter and antics of the dogs kept me turning the pages to see what would happen next.
Margaret, an orphan, rescues a stray dog. When she takes this dog for a walk, it attacks another dog. The owner of that one is not too pleased and gives Margaret a hard time about the dog itself and its manners. Soon, Margaret and the man, Edward, the Duke of St. Lawrence, start meeting and walking their dogs together. Over time, a friendship develops, and the duke begins to fall for the young woman.
I loved Edward’s character. At first, he’s a challenging and prickly sort of fellow, a man who is clearly used to order and having the world be a certain way. But his time with Margaret and their dogs softens him a little; although when he wants to be, he can still be the stern man we first met. The pets’ antics are fun to watch, and they caused quite a bit of humor in the story. I am a massive fan of Gaskell, so when I first saw that the character was referred to as Miss Margaret, “North and South” was brought immediately to mind. I was delighted when, later in the book, Margaret herself turned out to be a fan of the author. Just a fun little nugget. This book provides a gentle escape. There’s not much in terms of conflict except for Margaret’s self-doubts, but it is still lovely to watch their relationship shift and change. The well-drawn characters and their evolving relationship was enough in this book; the writer is very skilled in depicting the little moments of life. Not every book has to be about crazy external happenings or angst-filled interior monologues. Instead, this book is a lovely look at the unfolding of an unusual relationship between stations—and all because have a couple of endearing pets.
Always on the lookout for a great historical romance story, I found my answer in new-to-me author Allyson Jeleyne. Her words draw a picture in your mind and put you front and center into the action. Whether walking a dog or having tea, you are right there with Margaret and Edward. Was so involved in this story, you feel the warmth and excitement of a sweet, first love blossoming and fell in love myself!
I will certainly be reading any and all books written by Ms. Jeleyne from now on!

An absolutely delightful story which includes a duke, an orphan miss, a stray scrappy terrier and a prized bulldog!! Put all 4 together and you get such a refreshing story with lots of humor and love. I’m more of a cat person but I must admit these two dogs, Clover and Tiger, pulled at my heartstrings!
Edward Cherrill, The Duke Of St Lawrence, encounters Margaret Haselden in a park in a very unusual way….her terrier attacks his bulldog! Before long they become friends and start walking their dogs together every morning. Friendship turns into love and Margaret must decide if she is “duchess” material….Edward has no doubt she is:)
Again, this is a very sweet story that’s very easy to read and very relaxing. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am leaving an honest review.

Margret just knows there is a thief or a murder watching her. So she is determined to catch the wretch. As it turns out it is a hungry little terrier trying to find himself a meal. She takes him in but he is turning out to be a true terror.
This is the first book I remembered reading by Allyson Jeleyne but as it turns out I had read one more which did not entertain me nearly as much as this one.The antics of the canine characters had me laughing out loud. Mingled with the Duke who didn’t let the heroine know about his title this is a fun and amusing regency romp that I couldn’t put down.
This book got a solid 5 of 5 stars for plot, story line and characterization. I will most certainly look for more titles by this new to me author.

I discovered this author thanks to a newsletter sharing new release, the blurb caught me because of the rescued dog involved in.
And even if it was a short story with no drama nor angst, I do loved this book about an unconventional wooing between persons of two different standings.
Margaret Haselden is a well educated miss but she does not navigate in the same circle as the nobility, as an orphaned daughter of missionaries, she was lucky to have been adopted by a Gentleman doctor and his wife. So she knows her chance and asks for few, not because she is afraid to be rebuffed, only because she is happy as she is.
Edward Cherrill, The Duke Of St Lawrence is one to follow the rules, he cares for his siblings and his dowager mother, and manages his estates. His only indulgence is his love for his dog, Tiger.
Their first encounter is quite rough as Edward’s dog is attached by a mangy cur, the one rescued from street by Margaret. She accepts her fault but never balk, she even accepts to take advice.
At first, when St. Lawrence realizes she makes him break his own rules and act suite silly, he is scared and rebuffs her. But soon he apologizes and they come to enjoy their morning meeting to walk their dogs.
Margaret knows they are from two different worlds, but she only wants to seize this unique moment to be with a man with whom she shares something.
As I said, there are no drama, no angst, it was just the story of two peoples who should never have encountered and fall in love despite their differences and because of them.
A 4.5 stars read.
