In a town ravaged by fire, can two friends withstand the heat of their own desire?Chelsea has always been a pain in my ass.It didn’t bother me that she was rebellious. It didn’t really even bother me that she was so young. What bothered me about her was she was my best friend’s younger sister. The rules of friendship meant I had to stay away. But she never was good at listening, and truth be told- … good at listening, and truth be told- neither was I.
In a moment of weakness our lives changed forever.
But then she left, and I tried to forget her and the fire she gave me.
When she came back, I tried to apologize and keep her at arm’s length.
But I could see the passion in her eyes and I knew-
I was already lost to her.
There was no escape.
I was hers already, so now it was time to make her mine.
I loved Sam since I was a girl.
But our lives drifted apart.
Besides, I always knew he thought of me as a silly little girl.
How could I possibly show him I was different?
Then one night I got my chance.
The flames of passion seared our souls, making us one.
But my trust was broken and the strength within me faltered.
Scared and insecure, I left before dawn.
But I couldn’t stay away.
Sam was the only place I felt safe, so why was he resisting?
I knew there was an age difference.

Nice romance. I loved it.
After the death of her parents, Chelsea grew up under the protection of Kit, her older brother. Roger, one of her best friends, took on the role of brother. She had a crush on Sam, Kit’s best friend. But she forgot him when Sam got married and she went to college. When she returns home after a traumatic experience, they end up spending the night together. Being with him made her feel safe. He, on the other hand, feels bad because he thinks he took advantage of her. When she comes home for Christmas, they have a chance to talk again and clear up that misunderstanding.
Sam always saw Chelsea as Kit’s little sister, someone to take care of. Now he wants to take care of her, but in a different way. He likes to be with her, he wants to be by her side, but he can’t help thinking that their age difference will separate them, that she’ll get tired of him.
Chelsea feels safe with Sam, she always has, ever since he found her in the woods when she got lost. She wants to be with him, she doesn’t think that their first time was a mistake. She doesn’t want to lose him, she doesn’t care about the age difference.
One detail I loved is that Sam wants to talk to Kit, so that he doesn’t find out about their relationship from third parties.
I also loved that he tells Chelsea that she has to talk to someone about what happened to her. If she can’t do it with him, if she doesn’t trust him, it will hurt, because he wants her to trust him, but he won’t mind as long as she talks to someone and don’t let what happened poison her heart.
I loved seeing the other couples from the previous books, Luke and Jill, and Niyol and Margery, and I loved knowing that there are more possible couples in the future.
I recommend it.
I received an ARC from the author, and this is my honest review
4.5 Stars
This is book 3 in The Callahan series and it features Chelsea and Sam. This is a “brothers’s best friend” kind of story. Sam is wonderful! He and Chelsea work very well together. Her troubles were real and her emotions were genuine. I felt so bad for her. Her illness was unexpected though and the events of her timeline, from start to finish, were a little confusing.
These books just keep getting better as the series progresses and this one is my favorite so far. The story line was great and I love the characters. The only problem I had was the confusing timeline for Chelsea. I can’t wait for more of Rose’s interference or in the next case, Jill’s interference.
Brother’s best friend is one of my favourite tropes, so I was super excited to read this.
Taylor has a way of making every book intriguing. She reels you in from the first page with the promise of a HEA but the journey is always different.
This was everything I thought it would be and more.
Lust? Check.
Longing? Check.
Drama? Check.
Steam? Check.
Surprising plot twist? Check.
HEA? ALWAYS!
Another great book in this series and you can bet I will be reading the next one!

Because I read Destiny and loved it, I figured this one will not disappoint. I was right. Chelsea is a college student and Sam is a firefighter, Sam is fighting her attraction to her for two reasons. He is her brother best friend and he is 12 years older than her. The story was well written and entertaining.

Chelsea is away at college and when a friend makes her go to a party she tries to leave as soon as she can. Only to have another friend stop her and try to force himself on her. When their friends pick his side and make campus a bad place for her she gets everything she needs to do her finals and heads back home to her brother. Sam is struggling to put the annual Christmas party together she offers to help. However after they spend an amazing night together she has to return to school to finish the last of her finals before coming back. Sam thinks their age difference is too big an obstacle and tries to avoid her when she gets back. Chelsea isn’t about to let hi go without a fight and confronts him about their night together. Will Sam admit his feelings and claim Chelsea for his own? What will Chelsea do when she has to return to school?
This is an amazing story once I started it I couldn’t put it down. The chemistry between Chelsea and Sam is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

I LOVE this series! Chelsea and Sam’s story as they struggle with their feelings as they work together to put on the Holiday Ball. It kept me entertained to the final page. So can Chelsea who always had a crush on her brother’s best friend and Sam who is now obsess with the grown- up Chelsea who is struggling with disappointing his best friend and the age difference become the next couple in this book about the people living around Springvale, Utah? Of course the characters from the previous books make their own cameo appearance in this delightful romance. I volunteer to read and review this ARC.
Chelsea and her brother Kit has a 12 year age gap and when there parents were killed Kit became a parent. Chelsea had a crush on Sam, Kits best friend since she was young. When she went to college she thought her crush was over but when she came home, she realizes it never went away. While at a party on campus Chelsea sees one of her friends Marcus watching her and its not a friendly look. While Chelsea decides she has enough she goes to one of the rooms to get her jacket and purse and Marcus decides to take advantage of her. She finally gets away and goes home. After spending time with Sam between the both of them they cant keep fighting how they feel.
Enjoy the page turning story of Chelsea the hell cat as Sam likes to call her and journey with them with a HEA.

When Chelsea was younger it was a crush, now a woman, it’s a hot love.
Such a fantastic book to read about Chelsea, her older brother Kit and his best friend Sam.
Chelsea at a young age had a crush on Sam who is more than 10 years older than she is. She goes off to college and that crush dies down. Except when she goes back home for the Christmas holidays, she sees Sam again and her attraction for him comes back full force and then some. Sam can’t believe what a beautiful woman Chelsea is now. But he is hands off because she is his best friend’s little sister.
Chelsea is dealing with something that happened to her back at college that caused her to run back home traumatized and all the guys that know her well and she grew up with along with brother Kit and Sam notice that she isn’t her ole self. When confronted she will not say anything.
But Chelsea and Sam are hiding something that happened between them when she was home for Thanksgiving.
The couple knows how to heat up things and make things interesting. This is a definite read especially that Sam is her knight in shining armor.
Pick this up to read. Great romance story with plenty of heat.

Chelsea had a crush on her older brothers best friend as she was growing up. As an adult, shes gonna make him see how she’s all grown up. After having problems at school, she runs to the safety of her hometown. Now that Sam is no longer married, her crush is turning into much more. This is the first time I’ve read anything by this author, but I’ll be looking for more books by Taylor Brent. This is book 3 of a series and I definitely will be reading the other books in this series.

I enjoyed how Chelsea and Sam got together and that Sam was so worried about their age difference. Love the small town feel with great friends. Chelsea was lucky to have friends that were boys from childhood that were like brothers. It was a warm hearted love story with a happy ever after. Look forward to stories about some of her friends. I received this book as an ARC and I am happily voluntarily reviewing this book.
This is book three in the Callahan series and each book has been better than the previous one. Chelsea wanted her fairytale, she wanted Sam, her brother’s best friend. The storyline was interesting and flowed into Rose’s involvement in the attempt to get them together. As usual lots of characters from the previous books. However, this book could be read as a stand-alone. This author’s characters are always strong and vivid. Excellent steamy romance!

Another couple from the Twin Peaks Inn and the Callahan Series succumbs to love. This is a short sweet read about Sam and Chelsea whom we have heard about in the other books. Sam is 12 years older than Chelsea and her brother’s best friend. Chelsea has had a crush on Sam since she was 12 and after a incident at college she ran home to her brother, who raised her after their parents were killed when she was 10, to escape everything going on at college.
There is strong chemistry between the two and everyone can see it but them. I loved these books and am looking forward to the next one.

This older man younger woman best friend’s sister romance is superbly written! The storyline is flawless, funny, witty, well-written, quite enjoyable, and very interesting. The story flows smoothly and moves along at a brisk pace with excitement, ups and downs, and is emotionally deep. The chemistry between Chelsea and Sam is powerful and intense. I am really enjoying this series and can hardly wait for the next book. Definitely recommended!

I enjoyed this book. It was easy to read and easy to follow.
Sam is Chelsea’s older brother’s best friend and she’s had a crush on him for a long time. He’s been unattainable until recently.
Even when you, the reader, know what the “secret” is, you want to know how the characters will react.
I look forward to the next book to see who gets matched up!
