John and Julia are hooking up for a long weekend after a one-night stand twenty years ago. The two hit it off in a sex drenched weekend of pot smoking and soul baring at his family’s cabin. They decide to hook up a few more times. Each encounter reveals more character and plot. The absence between their visits weighs heavy on John, who overcomes his own fears, and finds the resolve to ask Julia … Julia to marry him.
It’s really about two people falling in love, but with their very own definition of love, however malnourished that may be. They seek refuge in each other in a cold world and a life they find themselves just trying to survive.
Between sex, smoking pot, getting munchies, a hundred questions, and more sex, we can see two people shedding their defenses and allowing themselves to be vulnerable.

Thresholds has left me a sobbing mess! How? It’s a short, quick story. At least that’s what the author wants you to think. This story has so much in such a short number of pages. The words pull so much from you and leave you grasping for more. This is the first book I have read from this author and I will be reading more after Thresholds.
Thresholds
Christopher Donaho
This was one of the first books that I’ve read by this author. In all honesty from reading the blurb I had no clue what I would find in this book. I wasn’t sure if in all the sex filled pages a romance would play out. Never did I think this story would end as abruptly as it did. It was worth reading up till the very end.
Threshold was far from one of the best wrote stories. It was even farther from the worst. I hope the next reader enjoys this story more then I did.
This book had my head spinning. I felt that it was a good book in some ways, but that it didn’t really have a clear background as to what was going on. It just kept jumping around and didn’t really going into too much detail on each person so I was always left confused, which caused me to have to keep going back to reread previous pages to understand what was going on.
Interesting story. It was good I just found to be lost at times. So sad to think people feel that lost in lif
This book is a great read and fast. It will keep you hooked from the very beginning. A must read.
This book was not my usual type but WOW! I couldn’t put it down once I started! This book was amazingly written. What a fantastic book! I would love to read more from Christopher Donaho!
You really need to enjoy erotica a lot to enjoy this one. With that being said, this author has a great use of words. If you can get past the rest of to just enjoy that.
This was not at all what I imagined when I started to read this book. The author is amazing with words, which made it very easy to get into the book and imagine everything that was being written. This book has all the feels and will leave you with a massive book hangover.
Okkkkkaaayyyy, this book was definitely different from what I usually read but it was oh soooo good. I really enjoyed reading this novel. It was short and extra steamy. Definitely recommended.
Steamy, erotic and captivating
Raw and very erotic.
A quick, sexy read about the connection of two people as they come together again later in life and explore each other. Their connection is physical and fueled by their smoking. The end is tragic but closes all the doors.
I enjoyed the fact that such a short book was able to provide a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Happiness, hurt, anger, sadness. I felt it all while reading this.
This is my first book by this author so I wasn’t going in expecting anything. I did find from the beginning that it felt overly descriptive, even for the smallest of things. The story also jumps around a lot and I found some bits confusing.
Recommend if you enjoy erotic novellas.
This book had my head spinning! I never knew who was talking. Jumped right into sex right away, which is fine. However, the back story seemed strange. I had to reread to understand most of what was happening. Plot has great potential, but lost me. Struggled to finish.
3.5 Stars
Wow, this one really threw me for a loop. The writing was absolutely beautiful, not at all what I would expect in a novella that is erotic romance. John and Julia are both suffering and find refuge in each other and their few and brief encounters making this book feel “real”. The way this ended was unexpected and left it hard for me to just pick up another book. I would have given it more stars if I had just a bit more of John and Julia’s story, my mind kept telling me something was missing.
This is a really different story and you automatically understand what the character is feeling. Two people trying to connect even though it’s been years but they are older now and their demons still haunt them. It’s a very short story but and longer wouldn’t have given the effect, it does leave you wondering.
Thresholds is unlike any other book I have read. It tells the story of two people that were friends and had a hot, steamy and memorable night of sex at the end of college and went on with their lives. Many years later, they meet up and again have hot steamy sex and smoke weed. They both have busy lives and careers, but they begin meeting up when they can, for more of the same. Are they falling in love? Will they be able to commit to each other? Or are they both so broken that nothing can heal them? You would need to read it to see for yourself. I honestly did not see the ending coming, but should have. This is a quick read, and is rather deep and honestly I can see it all happening in real life. It feels like this is someone real life experience.
This book had my head spinning! First, one direction, then all of a sudden it went in a different direction! At times, I was a little confused with what was going on so I had to go back and reread it. All in all, a good book with the trials and tribulations of existing.
I don’t know what I just read! I don’t know why I even finished it! I think the author wants to be a poet? Lots of words…descriptive useless words. He really loves the word “sweat”. This is a short book about two depressed people who meet again after a hot night in college. They meet occasionally and smoke weed and get wild in the sheets.
I started this book not knowing the author and his work. Am glad to say I was pleasantly surprised. The book is laid back, down to earth, and real life. I enjoyed immensely and loved the well written words and real life feeling. I’m not a spoiler, but will say the characters are great. Hot as hades, and emotional as two people who have never commited, kinda committed to each other without realizing it. The ending will take your breath away. Recommend as a great read, well written, and super intetesting. Made me think of my high school/early adult years.
