There’s a thin line between love and hate . . . and it cuts right through the middle of their office.
Bad boys run right over good girls like Georgina Keller, but after a confidence-shattering breakup, she’s determined not to let anyone at her new workplace push her around. Especially not the brooding creative director, a “bad boy of publishing” who’s made it clear she’s enemy #1.
Sebastian Quinn’s taste for fast cars, late nights, and beautiful women may have gotten him to the top of a leading New York magazine, but the reputation that made him is suddenly threatening to end his career. And even though everyone says pretty, pint-sized Georgina is there to help, he can’t help thinking she’s hoping to land the final blow–and maybe even his job.
Georgina can help Modern Man shed its bad reputation, but in order to do that, she’ll have to start at the top–and no amount of rakish charm or inconvenient attraction will distract her.

I enjoy a good office romance/enemies-to-lovers story. This was a great mixture of the two. While there were parts that were quite slow for me, and felt a little repetitive, it was an overall good, solid story.
Georgina and Sebastian have an instant physical attraction but get off on the wrong foot. Emotional grief for both of them carry over into hesitancy with one another but the sexual tension is fantastic! I loved the slow burn of it!!
While I felt it was a bit slow and lacking in that WOW factor, it is worth reading. And that epilogue just had me swooning and in smiles…it made my heart happy!!!
ps…I absolutely adored Sebastian’s bestie, Justin! I wouldn’t mind reading a standalone about his character 🙂
4.5 Stars
Jessica Hawkins in an incredible writer, giving us angst-filled books that are nothing short of emotional rollercoasters. But this one is nothing like I’ve come to expect from her. Right Where I Want You is like a breath of fresh air, leaving me with a huge smile and special place in my heart for these characters.
“You make me mad, and for better or worse, I refuse to live without that madness.”
Georgina is such a relatable character, putting on a mask and being the best at work while struggling with her inner demons and insecurities in her personal life. When her next assignment puts her in a male-dominated world she’s ready to prove to prove just how amazing she is, until she’s forced to work with Sebastian which might be her biggest challenge yet.
Sebastian has worked his entire career to get where he is and to put his magazine on top. Until he’s named in an expose that threatens to ruin everything he’s built. For once his charm & sexiness can’t help him, and not only does his boss bring in a consultant to help, he brings in a woman.
Jessica Hawkins knocked it out of the park with this one. The characters had amazing chemistry, and I’m not just talking about the main characters. Sebastian & Justin’s “bromance” is one of the best I’ve read and the bonds between Georgina & Bruno and Sebastian and Opal were emotional and realistic. I loved that nothing felt forced and the storyline played out with a perfect cadence, not rushing anything and giving us a natural transition from enemies to friends to more.
If you’re looking for a sweet and fun story with incredible characters and the perfect mix of emotional turbulence, this is definitely the one for you!
Omgosh this story took me by surprise! So funny! The banter between Georgina and Sebastian was awesome!! Absolutely loved this book so much and I highly recommend it. Great love/hate relationship 😉
4.5 Stars – A steamy enemies-to-lovers office romance that delivers on the heat and the swoon!
Sebastian helped to make Modern Man Magazine what it has become. Too bad he sacrificed his own reputation to make it happen. But times are changing and the magazine needs to get on board. Georgina is brought in by Sebastian’s boss to help make those changes.
Sebastian is less than thrilled to have Georgina overseeing his every move. Who cares if she’s hot and if she wasn’t his “boss” he would totally go after her. Now he just has to focus on making it through the next few weeks without losing his job.
Georgina is great at her job, but a totally different person in her home life. She takes charge at the office, but at home she’s a self-proclaimed push over. Her ex did a job on her and she’s still trying to recover. Sebastian is just what she needs to move on.
Georgina and Sebastian have chemistry. They banter, they argue and butt heads, but the sexual tension is ripe and it’s only a matter of time. Both fight their attraction until they can’t.
I am a total sucker for a steamy office romance and this did not disappoint! Sebastian and Georgina both have their baggage, so it’s more than just a steamy romance. The story had depth, a great storyline and lovable characters.
Georgina in her personal life is afraid. She lets people walk all over her and doesn’t stand up for herself or anyone else. At work as a PR fixer, she lets her altar ego of George take over to get the job done. And she does her job very well. Sebastian first meets Georgina in a coffee shop before meeting her professionally, so he sees the meek side to her and resists when she is introduced as the one to fix his failing magazine, Modern Man. As the weeks go by, they fight their attraction to each other as she fights to improve the magazine and he fights to keep his job. As Sebastian’s friend and coworker remarks, there’s a fine line between love and hate. They reach a truce over Georgina’s terminally ill dog Bruno, and strike up a tenuous friendship. But when they give in and let something more develop between them, their professional lives explode. Georgina also realizes Sebastian is dealing with an altar ego problem just as much as she is. Can their relationship survive everything?
What I liked: I liked so much about this. First: Bruno. Big dogs are my happy and he is a giant. I can relate so much to Georgina’s life with a large breed dog – the bed hog, the jealousy of attention from others, the destruction and need for exercise. That is my life too. The people were interesting, too. Sebastian isn’t the bad boy the media makes him out to be, but he thinks he has to live up to that image to be successful in NYC. He is already in the midst of an identity crisis when the book opens, trying to reconcile who he is professionally with who he is at heart, and wanting to be someone who would have made his mother proud. Georgina is also beginning her own journey of identity discovery. She doesn’t seem to realize that even though she separates her “Georgina” and “George” personalities in her head, they are both her all the time. She is tired of being everyone’s doormat and wants to change but doesn’t quite know how.
Georgina and Sebastian are good for each other, their different personalities complementing the other person. The supporting characters and friendships added a lot to the story as well.
What I didn’t like: I really wanted to read more about their work life. I was surprised when several weeks had passed and the magazine was turning around, because we saw very little of that in the book. Their initial brainstorming meeting was interesting and I wanted to read how some of those ideas played out.
Overall: Fun book, just enough drama to be interesting but not angsty, and extra points for Bruno.
4 STARS FOR SEBASTAIN AND GEORGINA!! Wonderful story for that time you need a pick me up. This story had me feeling all the emotions smiling like crazy, laughing, mad, sad and full of love. Sebastian is that hot bad boy and Georgina is that beautiful sweet girl that everyone takes advantage of. These two have a great sexy story to tell you and you definitely need to listen to them. This story is on the softer side from this authors normal angsty side books.
Right Where I Want You by Jessica Hawkins
2.5-3*
Sebastian is the Creative Director at Modern Man. He’s cultivated a reputation as a player and it’s come at a cost. While men want to be him and women want to be with him, the image he portrays is costing the magazine their readers and subscribers. MM hires Georgina to come in and do damage control in the form of whipping these bad boys into shape. She’s obviously met with some resistance but still prevails.
This was an okay story and while I love slow burn romances, I felt this dragging a little. I also didn’t feel that is was really enemies to lovers: yes, there was a bit of antagonism at the start, but for me it just seemed like foreplay rather than hate. I loved Sebastian and I felt sad for George and what she’d gone through. Overall it was a good read and both sweet and swoony at times.
*I voluntarily read an early copy of this book.

This story was just what I needed. An enemies to lovers romance with plenty of humour, emotions and a slow burn chemistry I enjoyed.
Sebastian and Georgina were witty, believable and their banter was spot on. Loved the dual POV and felt their connection grow through the story. I adored the two best friends and would love a book for Justin. He was a real highlight for me.
Definitely a change of pace from her previous work, but no less fantastic, Right Where I Want You is a sweet and romantic enemies to lovers story that had me smiling and feeling good the entire way through.
Georgina Keller is a sweet woman but a bear in the boardroom. Sebastian Quinn is a playboy and hardnose but truly a kind soul. Both playing a part and wearing masks, they are characters to both love and hate. Easy, quick and witty banter, they both always seem to be “on.” But with that, they are always honest and mature too. And I find myself wanting that more and more in my romance.
I love that we are given a story with characters that grow beyond the surface level and that even though there is conflict and heartbreak with that, it’s not over-the-top drama but real life issues that could happen to anyone. Decisions and choices that not only affect themselves but others as well.
Beyond sexy characters and steamy scenes that Jessica Hawkins does well, there are also supportive secondary characters that are more than just fluff. They matter to the story and make it that much better. A terrifically sweet romance to enjoy.
Sebastian – Liked him right away, right off the top. There’s this sweet sexy approachable feel to him. He is the type of person anyone would love to meet and have as part of ones life whether it be as a friend or lover (Lover would probly be the better option *swoon*)
Georgina – I liked her and I was proud of her. At the same time I was sad for her and mad for her past. Being the beautiful selfless person she is she should NEVER feel the insecurities she did based on someone else’s ignorance.
This book had me thinking of some personal choices/mistakes. Made me feel that I could be a better person overall. We should all strive for this.
My heart kept twitching. My chest felt full and the fluttered feeling in my stomach was constant.
QUOTE ~ “Since I met you, I’ve been feeling more like myself than I have in a while…. “I am myself. But what about you? Do I make you better?” He paused. “Can you see yourself with me?” ~
I smiled, laughed and thoroughly enjoyed Sebastian and Georgina. Their world had beautiful and fun characters right down to the pets. AMAZING!!
Sebastian and Georgina like to think that they started off as enemies, but anyone paying attention can tell that they did not. Their relationship began with more wariness, a dash of distrust or two, and a whole lot of lusty thoughts.
Jessica Hawkins introduces you to two characters certain to become favorites. Sebastian is one of those guys with considerably more to him than he wants you to see. He protects his image as a bad boy, or at least he did until it proved tiresome and burdensome. Even better, he is introspective. He thinks about who he is, what he wants, why he wants it, and–when necessary–what scares him.
In Georgina, Sebastian finds a perfect match. She impresses him professionally, and she impresses him with her compassion and sensitivity. Like him, there is more to her than you see on her surface.
Foes at the start of their relationship, you know that they are meant to be together. Georgina, however, needs to stop seeing herself as a doormat, and Sebastian needs to make peace with his past. Jessica Hawkins puts them through their paces, always developing them, always showing you their willingness to grow and change. Some scenes will make you teary, some will warm your heart, others will give your abdominal muscles a workout from all the laughter, and then there are the sexy times which are FABULOUS.
This book is fun and romantic. Sebastian will have you swooning all the swoons and sighing all the sighs. Jessica Hawkins writes the book both from his and Georgina’s perspectives, and my only complaint (aside from several references to Boston being “hundreds” of miles from New York when in fact it’s a little over 200 – why that bothered me, I cannot quite say) is that I wanted to spend more time in Sebastian’s head. His complexities interested me a little more than Georgina’s.
You will enjoy this book. If nothing else, read it so that you can get to know Bruno, who is a spectacular supporting character.
I’m not sure if Jessica’s inspiration stemmed from the #MeToo movement. For me that’s what I’m reminded of while reading this story and how Georgina’s job as a consultant was to bring attention to how Sebastian’s team needed to be mindful of it readers. Sexism and equality in the workplace is changing. Objectifying women is no longer the means to making money for a company. Jessica is a smart writer who obviously does her research before writing the details of her characters in a working environment. The creativity she puts into her stories is brilliant. She took a common topic and made it her own. I liked that this was a standalone story with dual points of view. I always knew the intentions of these characters. I knew where they stood with each other. They were likable characters who I could relate with. Even the minor characters were a wonderful addition to the story.
Georgia was a multilayered and driven female character who thrived in the workplace with her strong, fierce, and independent characteristics. However, all that confidence faded away while dealing with her personal issues. Sebastian was a man who was looking for change. He was complacent until a consultant bumped into him nearly knocking him off his feet.
Jessica’s creative writing skills goes outside the typical bounds of enemies to lovers in this office romance between two characters working to build a better marketing tactic to encourage more female readers. She included both sides to every argument and showed the different ways of interpreting words. She showed how this team of men could adapt to the changes in the workplace by treating women as equals by finding value and respect in each other.
Right Where I Want You by Jessica Hawkins a five-star read you don’t just want, you need. This was such a great read that as soon as I finished, I started it all over again, I laughed in the same places and cried in the same places and loved it even harder that the first time. Although the main characters are Georgina ‘George’ Keller and Sebastian Quinn there are so many secondary characters that nearly steal the show with it, from best friends to pooches they all blend into a great melting pot that produces a story that will stay with you, it will also mean you cant look at stilettos and gummy bears the same way again. I didn’t think Jessica Hawkins could write a more beautiful scene than some in Something in the Way, but somehow without giving spoilers towards the end of the book, there was one scene that stole the show for me, it showed me the true power of the characters and just made my heart break even more. This was easily the most compelling novel of the year, and I’ve decided all I want for Christmas is for Justin and Luciano to get their own stories, or even a holiday short with Bruno and Opal, I can only hope and wish upon a star.
