THE ART OF SEDUCTIONDominick Mercer, Marquess of Ellsworth, leads a double life. In public, he’s one of the most respected peers in England. But in private, he’s notorious Italian painter Domenico Vincenzo, a man known as well for his scandalous lifestyle as his visionary paintings. He’s determined to paint a masterpiece and put his real name on it, thus freeing him from this dual existence … dual existence that’s becoming difficult to maintain. The problem? His model is the most unusual woman he’s ever met and the only one fit for his masterpiece. And she’s keeping secrets of her own…
Eve Winslow is determined to live life to its fullest by bouncing from one madcap escapade to another. So when a misunderstanding brings her to Vincenzo’s studio, she simply cannot refuse the adventure of being his model, or his rakish charms. Soon Eve’s adventure turns into scandal, and the only person who can save her is the same man who causes her downfall—a man who refuses to put anything before his art, including love.

Take a marquess leading a double life, a lady trying to live down the scandal of an interrupted elopement, and a vengeful ex-lover, and you get another really good story from Harrington. I received an ARC of this book.
4-4.5 Stars!! This is the 5th book in the ‘Capturing the Carlisle‘s’ series! I’ve read one other book in this series(#4) but I really want to read the rest!! This is a really great series & this book was so entertaining, I could hardly put it down! I would have liked to know more in the epilogue though, like what the backlash was with society at the end of the book!?
I don’t know a lot about painting but it seemed like the main character, Dom, was a bit fanatic about his painting. I guess that’s just the way artistic people are! Great read! Definitely recommended!
*I received this book at no charge from the publisher.*
What a Lord Wants by Anna Harrington is book 5 in the Capturing the Carlisles. This is the story of Evelyn ‘Eve’ Winslow and Dominick Mercer ‘Dom’, Marquess of Ellsworth. I have read (and Loved!) the previous books, but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Dom isn’t close to his family after they didn’t understand his diseire and need to paint. So he left an has become a well known Italian painter Domenico Vincenzo. But then his older brother died leaving him with the family Title. Now he is living two lives looking to merge them with a successful paint that will allow him to use his real name. Eve lost her mother early in life which seems to have her feeling that she needs to get in as much as she can in life in case she dies young too. In addition she is unsettled and can’t rest so between the two things she is always skating on the edge of the town’s approval. But Eve’s family of wealth along with a marriage by her sister into the powerful Carlisle family has kept her borderline. When Eve is sent on a inocent mission to pick up a painting at the Domenico Vincenzo studio it leads to her meeting Dom who thinks she is his model and that she is the one to bring him to his goal of merging his lives.
So enjoyed their story! I am crazy about this series and of course the author…a must read.
Great read! Anna has written a refreshing take on the romance between Eve and Dom in this 5th book about the Carlisle family and their close friends! However, this book stands alone. You do not have to have read the other 4 books to thoroughly enjoy this one. When Eve and Dom meet both make assumptions about each other that is completely off the mark. He thinks she is a paid model who has come to pose for him. She has actually come to pick up a painting promised as a wedding gift for her sister. She does pose for him for several weeks allowing them to get to know each other. Complications arise when she refuses to continue posing for him since it requires her to be nude. This painting is to be his masterpiece, allowing him to paint under his real name rather than the Italian half version of his name. Eve agreed to pose for him initially because of the restrictions placed on her based on her adventurous spirit. Being in a place where she isn’t judged or restricted really soothes her mentally and physically. I won’t go into details into how they discover each others real identity or the problems that arise because of the deceptions involved in maintaining the façade. You’ll have to read the book to find out how they resolve everything. I received an ARC of this romance from the author. My opinions are strictly my own. I am looking forward to the next book in this series!
Ive been reading Anna’s books since the first one released. I enjoy all her books. This one was fantastic. I read it in 24 hrs. Up almost all night to finish it. Dom and Eve were so perfectly matched. Dom trying to master what he thought was his lifes love to get his biggest lesson from Eve. I loved the transformation through the story.
This is another fantastic story in “Capturing the Carlisles” series but it could read as standalone.
Wonderful characters and plots. You will love this story!
This is the story of Eve, who loves adventures, and Marquess Ellsworth, a secret painter.
An enjoyable read for all!
I found myself completely under Dom and Eve’s spell as their romance unfolded. To be fair and 100% honest I must say, that Eve fell victim to my snap judgement of her character early in this book. But now, I freely admit I was completely wrong. As her past is revealed you get to know the “real” Eve and what ghosts haunt and drive her. That is the Eve that will break your heart and have you very firmly in her corner. Rooting for her not only as one half of a couple but as someone you just want to find happiness and peace. Dom has his own demons and passions that rule his world and his struggle with them is both poignant and often frustrating. He truly was a wonderful hero though. There was no denying his need and desire to protect Eve from anyone that wanted to hurt her. You would think that these characters do not have really anything in common but they do and as new layers are revealed you realize not only how perfect they are for each other, but that they genuinely need each other. This is a beautiful romance with wonderful characters that will touch your heart. The story line offers lots of drama, angst, emotional turmoil, heartache, suspense and heat. An excellent read and a terrific addition to this series.
I am not usually a person that cannot wait to read about artists (any kind of artist). Holy cannoli, Ellsworth ahem Vincenzo oozes sexuality and a lust for life that you feel through his words and actions. Evelyn’s free-thinking attitude and actions are so refreshing. This story does stay with the historical period but how often do you read about people like Ellsworth and Evelyn? Never. Their pain is real, their heartache is real and their love is real and beautiful. A lovely story with a perfect epilogue.
I received a complimentary copy from the author.
Both Evelyn Winslow and Domenico Vincenzo are scorned by society. Her because she is the wild daughter of a very wealthy tradesman. She and her sister, Mariah were constantly thumbing their noses at the ton who rejected them. Now Mariah is settled, married to Robert Carlisle (book 3 in the series. Domenico is a talented Italian painter who (gasp) paints nudes. However, he is also Dominick Mercer, Marquess of Ellsworth. Society has no idea he is leading two very different lives. A case of mistaken identity also leads Eve to lead a double life. One the young miss looking for a place to belong and the other an artist`s model posing for Domenico. He recognizes in her, his muse, the means to create a masterpiece so he can finally merge his two identities. He wants his art to be first allowing no time or energy for love. What happens when a scandal rocks their world? What can he do to save her, will he do anything to save her reputation? Will it be enough? As with the other books in this series, I couldn’t read it fast enough. Is this the last of the Carlisles? If it is, I am sorry to see them go. Over the five book series, they have become old friends.
