As the youngest mayor Trillium Bay has ever elected, Brooke Callaghan wants to prove she’s up to the challenge. She’s stepping out of her practical teacher flats and into her sister’s treacherously high heels…with disastrous results. But if she’s going to (literally) stumble her first day on the job, why not fall into the arms of a handsome stranger?
Leo Walker is a rarity on Wenniway Island. … Island. Not only handsome, he’s also single, funny, and—most importantly—interested in Brooke. Unfortunately, his reasons for being on the island are temporary, so in spite of the undeniable chemistry between them, he’s not a forever kind of guy.
When a private investigator arrives with news of a jewel thief hiding on the island, Brooke finds herself dealing with one kerfuffle after another, and Leo proves to be a delicious distraction. What does she really know about him, though? And the biggest question of all? Does this short-term romance hold the possibility of long-term love?

My Kind of Forever
(Trillium Bay #2)
Written by: Tracy Brogan
I’ve come back to Trillium Bay and I’m so glad I did!
This book is about the oldest Callaghan sister Brooke. When we left Trillium Bay at the end of summer, Brooke was thinking about running for Mayor, she ran, she won and now she’s making the transition from teaching to Mayoring (is there such a word as Mayoring?) Personally I think Brooke would make a great Mayor; that is if she can ever bring City Council to order…it’s looking like a tougher job than she thought. Never fear however, because there is a new bar tender in town and who cares if the council meetings go downhill, Brooke has Leo Walker, handsome bartender, possible novel writer and eye candy for Mayor Callaghan.
The crew from book one is still on the Wenniway Island, Leo is a new transplant and oddly enough there is a Private Investigator who has arrived looking for someone named Jimmy Novak…who no one knew and were happy to tell the PI, there is no Jimmy Novak here.
However, this is Trillium Bay and stranger things have happened and probably will happen in the future.
As always, Tracy Brogan brings so much to the table with any of her books. We have a potential love interest for Brooke, Gigi is still enjoying life and martini’s and the residents of Trillium Bay continue to give readers lots to laugh about.
It’s always so nice when readers get to continue on with a group of people they feel they know personally and watch the shenanigans that can always be found in one of Tracy Brogan’s books.
This one was good but not as good as the first one. Still the same quirky small town characters but this one didn’t highlight them so much. Brooke is now mayor of the island and Leo is new to town and tending bar. They are an unlikely pair but just when they are getting close lies come between them. One of the crazy islanders is a jewel thief from years ago and the past has come back to haunt them and catches them all in their path.
Anything of Brogan’s is always a winner. Loved this book!
MY KIND OF FOREVER (Trillium Bay #2) by Tracy Brogan is a charming contemporary romance. This cozy romance has an adult romance with no explicit sex, an endearing and funny heroine, a handsome newcomer, a quirky island population and a side mystery to be solved. This is the second book in this series, but it can be easily read as a standalone.
Brooke Callaghan is the new mayor of Trillium Bay on Wenniway Island. She is the first female and the youngest person to ever hold that position. It is quite a change from her role as a school teacher on the island, but she is excited about the challenge. Between her new job as mayor and dealing with all the town’s characters and her own extended family, she does not want to be attracted to this new, handsome stranger. Brooke wants forever, not just a few weeks.
Leo Walker is a newcomer to the island and is hired as a bartender at the local pub. He is handsome, single and interested in Brooke. Leo says he is on the island for a break after the security company he worked for closed down and to write a book. There is definitely chemistry between Leo and Brooke, but he will not commit to staying on the island.
A strange private investigator shows up in Trillium Bay and claims there is a jewel thief hiding on the island, but Brooke knows of no new islander except the new bartender. Rumors are all over town and everyone has a different tale to tell. What will Brooke do when she discovers long held secrets and the real reason Leo is on the island?
I loved Brooke and all of her family and friends. To have a friend that makes specialty pasties for dancers, a grandmother who wants to send the ashes of her exes up in fireworks and all the others island characters had me laughing several times throughout the story. This is a cozy romance with a mystery thrown in that surprised me with its resolution. I will definitely be looking for more to read from the entertaining Trillium Bay series.
Good continuation of this series. I think it started a bit slow, but sometimes in a series that happens, to inform people that might not have read the prior book(s) of the setting. characters etc. By the middle of the book the plot was flowing very well and the last fourth of the book, gosh that part hit me full force. Loved it!
Very entertaining book, Many characters from the first book are in this one, which is always a plus for me in a series. I want the character’s lives to continue and develop. I am definitely going to read book 3 and am looking forward to it.
A sweet and utterly perfect installment in the Trillium Bay series I have absolutely been dying to read. For ever! I loved Brooke and her loner ways. It’s never easy always putting everyone else first and filling your lonely life with work to make the void. But that all changes when the new Mayor meets the mysterious newcomer one morning over a shoe stuck in a pile of horse pooh. She is overly cautious but utterly taken by this handsome bartender Leo and proceeds as such, with extreme caution. On top of that, there is a mystery of a jewel thief and the beady eyes man sniffing around their idyllic little island. I loved catching up with everyone and I would most definitely love to visit their perfect little existence, no sarcasm intended! Perfect, perfect ,perfect and it deserves all the stars and praise!
Fun sweet mysterious romance
Such great characters! I so enjoyed discovering their foibles and watching them interact. Then throw in the mystery and trying to figure that out and what fun I had!
I loved this story. It reminded me of my vacation on Mackinac Island as the kid. No cars.. only bikes and horses. The community is tight and eccentric. Not everyone gets along, but everyone is included. I love the idea of falling for a sexy stranger, and there’s a little mystery too.
I enjoyed this book even more than the first one in the series. I’d worked on Mackinac Island, the inspiration for Trillium Bay, one summer, and in the first book, all the familiar places with different names were a little distracting. This time, i was used to it and it helped enhance the book for me. I liked this storyline much better than the first one, especially the twists and turns it takes. It was fun to see what the characters from the first book have been up to (especially GiGi, she’s a hoot!) I could relate to Brooke and how she’d always lived life on the safe side and had a hard time changing her mindset to live on the edge a little bit. I will read Tracy Brogan’s books. They’re quick reads, and relatable, and so funny. Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
Trillium Bay on Wenniway Island is the quintessential small town, complete with quirks and charms and larger-than-life, memorable characters. Brooke Callaghan, a sixth-generation resident, has quit her teaching job and been sworn in as the new mayor. Brooke has her work cut out for her, between cleaning out decades of useless paper files, bringing the town’s technology into the current century and corralling opinionated, eccentric city council members. She really doesn’t have time to start anything with the sexy new bartender, no matter how dusty and neglected her love life might be.
The early copy I read of this book is my first by this author and I got a kick out of the setting and the colorful island residents. I really enjoyed the two main characters, and while Brogan dials back the steamy details, the chemistry between Brooke and Leo is plenty strong. And for those of you who enjoy an angsty read, there’s certainly enough here to keep you happy. Every lover of small-town romance will thoroughly enjoy this book, and I’ll be planning my next visit to Wenniway Island very soon.
My Kind of Forever is a heartwarming, romantic, book, filled with so much charm and just the right touch of humor. I found myself not sure whether I wanted to chuckle or sigh throughout the book. There was just so much to feel good about. There is a perfect balance of secrets that will be exposed and sweetness that doesn’t leave you feeling like the story is too sweet.
The characters are so perfectly written that you’ll feel like you know them, it’s not just the main characters but also the side characters. Overall this was a great read.
This was my fist by this author. I really enjoyed it! It seemed to have a little bit of everything. The story was funny, romantic, and sexy with some mystery, danger and quirky characters thrown in for good measure.
Ms. Brogan had me from the very beginning when Brooke, who was wearing her sister’s clothes and shoes to her first meeting as mayor, manages to flip her high heel into a pile of horse manure. The hero, sexy Leo comes up behind her and says something like, “Need some help, Cinderella?”. Yep, I was hooked! Totally loved it!
I obtained this book from Netgalley. All thoughts are my own!
This is the second of the Trillium Bay series set in the small tourist island town. Brooke Callaghan was one of three teachers on the island and is now the new mayor of Trillium Bay. Since there are only 600 natives on the island, her love life is nonexistent. Enter Leo, a newcomer who is on the island bartending, and trying to write a book. They have a meet-cute involving a borrowed shoe and a pile of horse manure. Brooke is wary of starting a relationship with someone who may be temporary, but she eventually gives into her attraction. This is a very sweet romance sprinkled with a good amount of humor. I hope this isn’t last we see of all the quirky characters that inhabit Trillium Bay. I was given an ARC of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.
I love returning to Trillium Bay and this was no exception. Brooke is the new mayor and has a lot to prove to this little quaint town. Leo has arrived in town temporarily under false pretenses but can not deny the chemistry between him and Brooke. The only problem is Leo does not do forever. Soon long held secrets come out in regards to a jewel thief living on their small island, that Brooke deals with the help of postmaster, Shari. Now the reason of Leo on the island, comes out and will Brooke be able to forgive him.
Loved this story, had me laughing out loud many times. Wonderful characters with great dialogue. Love the quirky residents of this town. This book is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. I highly recommend.
I’m a huge fan of Tracy Brogan’s books unfortunately this one not so much. It’s a sweet chick lit story that is just a little too cute and silly for my taste. Of course the writing is exceptional with well developed characters but I found the pace of the story slow with several parts too drawn out. Overall not a bad book but not one I really enjoyed.
Juggling her new job as mayor, the town gossips, her sisters and grandma’s love life, and being thirty-six and single is more than what a girl can stand. Brooke is at the crossroads where the decisions she makes now will define the rest of her life.
This book is both endearing and full of all those quirky characters that make life fun. This island is a world upon itself. Traversing the complications that come with knowing everyone’s business, and having your own business exposed, makes for a wonderful plotline. Things around town become even more interesting with the advent of strangers: the new bartender, a private investigator searching for a jewel thief, and a mysterious beautiful woman that has men dropping their jaws to the ground. As a mayor, Brooke has to dig deep in her fortitude to withstand all these changes to her town. Remember, she is the mayor and has to protect her people (and herself)!
Love the sense of adventure in Brooke. This is a clean and safe read with enough detail to have you swooning. Fans of Marie Force and her Gansett Island series will love reading this series.
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the publisher for sharing a copy with me.
I received a free, advance copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Brooke just can’t seem to catch a break when it comes to life and love. Leo has arrived in Trillium Bay during the off season but is really on the up-and-up? There’s a rumor going around town about a jewel thief being on the island- but how does Leo fit in this equation.
This book had some romance and chick lit feel. I personally think that the people of Trillium Bay need to find something to do besides drinking. (There was A LOT of alcohol consumed within the pages of this book. This consumption also led to Brooke’s biggest mistake of opening her heart to Leo. Will he ever be able to redeem himself???
This is part of a series and it is actually the third one, when I agreed to read this I did not know that but I didn’t feel lost. Anyhoo we meet Brooke and she has been part of this small town for a long time, her family has been there for decades. She has been made mayor and she really has her work cut out for her trying to bring this town up to date or in this century. Here comes a new comer interested in her and due to her bad experiences and her woe is me attitude she is reluctant. We have some mystery thrown in, some humor and eventually some happiness. It was a little slower than I normally like, but I still enjoyed…
Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions.
This is a sweet story about Brooke Callaghan, a teacher and lifelong resident of Trillium Bay, who now finds herself as the new mayor; and Leo Walker, a new to town bartender/writer, who has certainly caught Brooke’s eye. Sparks fly when these two meet but Leo is not permanent and Brooke doesn’t really want a quick fling. Can she let herself have what she wants despite the end date she knows they have?
When it turns out Leo may have been less than honest about his reasons for being there, Brooke is rightfully angry with him. Can they find a way to overcome his betrayal and pick up where they left off?
This small island town is full of quirky people that will surely make you laugh or at the very least shake your head. They are certainly an interesting bunch. Look forward to more from this series.
