Jen Lammit just wanted a fresh, new start in a small town. She needed to move on from her past and thought that Hansville, Texas would be the perfect place to settle down and start over. But just like her keen observation skills got her in trouble in the past, they seem to be leading her into more trouble in this new town. As a professional dog breeder, Jen has always been very good at spotting … good at spotting characteristics about dogs. She was really good at what she did and hopes to continue her passion for breeding dogs in this new town, but the more she learns about the town folk, the more they draw her in. Especially when she discovers a man who tries to commit suicide in his garage by leaving the car running. But when the Sheriff arrests the wife, someone Jen knows could never hurt a fly, Jen starts to suspect that the man was not only murdered, but it will take some time to find the real killer.
As Jen gets settled in this small town, she will start to unravel much of the grapevine and all the rumors circulating town. In just a few weeks, she’ll truly get to know a lot of people around town, including their dark pasts. And the more Jen digs, the deeper she’ll discover the truths amongst all the rumors. And the more she learns, the more dangerous her life becomes.

4.5 stars really nice
This book was easy to get into, and I just happened to read a few books before this one that weren’t, so I could really appreciate this fact!
It was a really nice story. Sometimes the sentences were ever so slightly choppy, but it was a very enjoyable book. Although after the exciting beginning things were just a tad slower in the middle. Jen goes around town, visiting people, but doesn’t learn much, so the pace should be picked up a little. And at the end, while the wrap-up was clear and satisfactory, it needed more suspense after that whole build-up. And that’s why I’m giving 4 stars and not 5. But it was definitely good! I would give 4.5 stars if possible. I liked Jen; she’s kind and perceptive and a good amateur sleuth. And I liked the little dogs, both with their own distinct personalities and both very cute! A pleasant book!
She wants to leave her past behind her and start afresh. She knows dogs and she is shocked when she is slowly pulled into helping a woman to prove she did not kill her husband. The more she digs the more she finds out but it could become dangerous to her. Will she find out? See if she can

The author has written an excellent book that is an easy light read of a murder mystery. The main character “Jen” is moving from Chicago to a small town in Texas to get away from trouble that she inadvertently started. She makes the move with only her two Havanese dogs Pip and Natasha. Within days of arrival she is embroiled in a murder and has a love interest. A great book for removing yourself from the ordinary day to day life.

Jen left Chicago and her old job behind her. She ends up in a nice small town where the people, at least most of them, are friendly. She is walking her dogs when she meets Whitney and her husband. From the way Whitney is reacting to him, Jen suspects he is abusive toward her. A few days later, Jen finds this husband inside his car inside the garage with the motor running. The Sheriff arrests the wife, and being a small town, the rumor mill is in full force! Can Jen convince the sheriff that the wife didn’t do this and that there are other people who wouldn’t mind hurting him or even killing him? You will need to read the book for the answer. Small Town Cozy Murder
This is a great cozy mystery featuring a small town and small dog breeder. The plot is equal amounts of fun and deduction. The characters are very believable and are exactly what you find in small town USA. This is the second cozy mystery that I have read by this author. Both were excellent and I will read them again. I will also read all of this author’s work that I can. I received this book for free and this is my honest opinion.
