Anjie and Dev have long had feelings for each other. But when he was her boss, she refused to act on her feelings. Now that she’s partner, though, perhaps the time has come for them to finally do something about their feelings. Except perhaps not. Dev has slowly over the years been behind the scenes taking control of a company and it’s not sitting well with his partners. He’s searching for something and within this company he hopes to find it. He also hopes to finally be with the woman he loves. But to do that, he’ll need to open up a little. Can he do that for Anjie?
Wow, this story was intense! So emotionally fraught, so fascinating to read of Dev’s slow journey to opening up. And Anjie was just the perfect partner to help him. Her love, her caring and compassionate nature was just the thing for Dev. I admit to perhaps feeling all the feels when I was reading this. And I fell in love with both Anjie and Dev. Just such a layered, emotional read.

This was a great read. I think I would have benefit more if I had read the other books in the series. I would have gotten more depth regarding both main characters. It doesn’t distract from the book but it would have been more enjoyable.
What a wonderful story to read.
Anjelica has had strong feelings for Dev for 4 years, but does not act because she, as his employee, does not want to start a relationship. Dev is also strongly attracted to her. When she becomes a partner within the company, he decides to take action, but Anjelica knows that Dev is rather closed and can show little emotion and confidence. This stops her from giving a relationship a chance. When she finds out the reason for his closeness and distrust of others, she decides to help him with the condition that she wants him to open up to the people around him.
Greatly described how Dev slowly opens and dares to show his emotion. In my eyes it seemed realistic; the somewhat contact-disturbed man who did not know an attachment period in his baby-age, which marked him for life. How he looks for the names of his parents in the expectation that he will feel “whole”, supported by the woman he loves. Anjelica who continues to give him a little push without putting too much pressure on him and together they look for answers.
The book is a novel containing a search for a man who might may know the answers. The emotions of hope and disappointment come through in the descriptions. Nice as Dev goes looking for his own past and does not linger in disappointments. Strong story with strong personalities

4 1/2 Stars
First time reading from this author and will not be the last. I plan on reading the previous books that link to Dev and Angie’s romance. Good even pacing with drama and intrigue throughout. The climatic big reveal was a bit of a let down, but I liked the way the author handled the emotional aspect of Dev’s need for closer and the way the identity of his parents drove him through adulthood. Angie had torment of her own with her painful history with her ex and with her break with her parents. I was happy with her final resolution with them at the end as well.

Twists and secrets kept them apart!
by sewsummore
Dev was a partner and friend in the venture capital firm Bastard Capital but over the past several years the friendship had lost some of it’s sparkle after he secretly took control of Corvus, a huge multinational company. Anjelica was a woman who had just been made a partner in their company. At one time they had been attracted to one and other but both refused to act upon it and now four years later they were both partners in the firm. Dev had always loved her and now though they would at last have a chance to be together but painful reminders of his past made it impossible for Anjelica to commit to a relationship with him. This book was an amazing read with deep emotional drama, both needed to put the past behind them in order to have a chance together. The twists and secrets kept them apart but working together made a future possible. This book end happily but not before big changes have to happen.

Dev is a man of mystery. Working with him at Bastard Capitol has allowed Anjie a window into Dev’s work life but not so much into the man. When he breaks from his partners and decides it is time for him and Anjie to explore their feelings, she decides to decline because she doesn’t want to lose her heart to a man that can’t open up and stand the chance of getting hurt in the process. Dev is not going to give up without a fight. Will the pursuit be worth it?

The final book in the Bastard Capital series and it did not disappoint! Sign up for Raleigh Davis’ Cosmopolitan Newsletter to receive First Impressions where we first get to see the connection between Dev and Anjie before the men were VC commanders.
Anjelica Caprice has been a fairy godmother to all our wonderful bachelor bastards except the mysterious Dev. Why is he so mysterious?
Dev will do anything to uncover his past, even alienate his brothers in arms. Can he find his very beginnings without also driving a wedge between himself and newly crowned partner Anjie? He knows she is THE one. The only thing he has ever wanted maybe even more than finding his parents. He is going to need the BC’s fairy godmother in his all consuming quest but she vows not to lose her heart in the process. Dev is a one man island and Anjie just can’t risk that kind of pain again.
This book has ALL THE FEELS! I practically cried through the entire Chapter 24. Pick up this book and watch Dev find out who he is, see the absolute magic as Anjie and Dev come together, the satisfying justice for our villainous adversary and rejoice at the guaranteed HEA for all of the beloved BC Family. I’m going to miss these guys but everyone is going to be A-O.K!
