Great story line loved the characters. Felt like I was part of the story it was so believable would read it again
An amazingly sweet love story!
This is a love story that is so sweet and yet so poignant because of the issues that they are faced with. The issues are typical in today’s society, it touches on topics such as “coming out” especially from someone of stature, someone popular, which I know for a fact a lot of our celebrities/famous people are going through. It also touches on basic human insecurities which is why this book is endearing and totally relatable (well, not the celebrity part for most of us…). We can put ourselves in the person of Jace and his friends, they go through typical day-to-day situations. It also touches on family, not only blood-related, but family nonetheless. The support and the protectiveness of a family is also embodied. And most especially, it introduces us to Jace and Trent, who come from totally different sectors of society, but they are trying to cope/adjust with it. The way they go through it is so sweet, especially in the part of Trent, who is a little bit jaded because of the industry he belongs to. Jace, being a connoisseur of art, was in awe when he first met Trent, but adjusts to the status that comes along with Trent, and he just focuses on the man. The times they spent getting to know each other are so endearing and so so lovely! I love how they are when they are with each other. How honest they are with their feelings. The way each one realized how much the other person meant to him and what they are willing to sacrifice in order to be with the person they truly love is so adorable, I am totally in love, totally! The stories from these series is going to touch and mesmerize you, Jace and Trent made me fall in love, and the way Trent showed his love for Jace makes me all gooey and schmoopy (I know technically this is not a word, but bear with me….), and so in love, it’s what love stories are totally made of! I am looking forward to the stories of the rest of the characters in Pineapple Grove! CONGRATULATIONS Jocelynn Drake and Rinda Elliott on an amazing start to a new series, so, so well-written! A must-read lovelies!
Jace meets Trent when his dog introduces them. He knows there is no future with a hot actor who has no intention of sticking around. Maybe he just deserves to have a fling with someone that stimulates his senses?
Trent has no idea when he goes on vacation that he could meet THE one. Now he just wants to take all of his time and spend as much as he can together. What will happen when the time is up?
This is a classic slow burn. You just do not see it coming. This is a great love story from start to finish. I sure hope to see more of these amazing characters. This series is just beginning. I cannot wait for the next installment.
It was back in October of 2017 when Jocelynn Drake and Rinda Elliott first made their presence known to me by way of the first novel in their Ward Security series, a spin-off of their original series together, Unbreakable Bonds. In a year’s time, I’ve worked my way through both of those series and have fallen absolutely smitten, not just with the stories their core cast of characters had to tell but the characters themselves, and that includes those supporting characters who end up becoming so damn unforgettable and causing me to cross fingers and toes and make wishes upon the writing gods out there that they get their own stories told to. Well, one of those wishes came true when Drake and Elliott released Something About Jace, the Pineapple Grove series starter, which happens to feature an actor–film star Trent Elrige who was introduced in Sadistic Sherlock itching to find himself by taking a break from his hectic schedule and heads to Delray Beach in Florida and ends up finding a Pineapple Grove gallery owner who makes him want to break the rules, but could falling in love be at the risk of ending his career?
I admit it: I had major “le sigh” moments with this book; so many in fact that I’d lost count. Trent was someone I just knew deserved to have his own happily-ever-after but that didn’t necessarily mean that it was going to be easy getting there. Attraction? Check. Lust? Check. Complications? Big fat check! After all, what’s one of the world’s most famous actors–who also happens to be considered as the most eligible bachelor around–to do when his bisexuality is known by only two people when he meets the first guy to ever have him wanting to pursue something? But then Jace Townsend seems to have inspired the nearly forty-year-old Trent to take a risk or two. I mean, hello, the man had his own business, didn’t have delusions of grandeur, saw Trent as a man and not as a celebrity (not counting the initial recognition, of course), was a protective and caring older brother and friend, loved his community, and happened to be an amazing dad to his dog Ripley. I was smitten with him, so how could Trent not be, right? Le sigh. See? I can’t seem to help myself with these two. Trent and Jace were just…le sigh. Gah!
Like Jocelynn Drake and Rinda Elliott’s other books as a writing duo, there’s an element of mystery and suspense in this book, but not necessarily at the same heightened level as those found in their Unbreakable Bonds and Ward Security series. The heart and heat that I’ve come to recognize as patented Drake and Elliott is still very much there, alongside the witticisms I love. While their first two series are very much entwined–although they can be read separately, but then I’m going to highly encourage you to read them in order and do yourselves the favor of basking in the awesomeness of Drake and Elliott’s writing plus all the fantastic men you’ll be meeting along the way–I suspect that Pineapple Grove will have far looser ties, if I’m basing it solely on Trent and Jace’s book. If you’ve never read anything by these two (insert shocked gasp here), this latest release from them is as good a place to start as any, and I’m saying that not simply because I’m a fangirl of this writing partnership, but because it’s difficult not to be drawn into the tales they weave. Like Something About Jace, there’s just something about Drake and Elliott’s storytelling that entices and then elicits such a loyal but deserved fan following. Five-plus stars.
I’m a huge fan of this author duo and was thrilled to receive an ARC of the first book of their new series together.
Ward Securities fans will be happy to know this is Trent Elridge’s story. You know, the actor through whose window Dom kicked a bad guy? Yeah, that one.
It’s also Jace Townsend’s story, and introduces the ensemble that will populate the Pineapple Grove series universe, which is quite different from the Unbreakable Bonds/Ward Securities world and not just because it’s Florida instead of Cincinnati.
Perhaps it’s a little disappointing that duct tape doesn’t feature in the action, but the romance between Jace and Trent is sweet and hot and paced just right, in my opinion. I’ll be happy to have glimpses of the couple in future installments, of course, but after having read a couple of books that dragged on too long, I’m delighted to read one that’s just long enough to cover the subject, leaving me wanting a little bit more, instead of counting the pages until it’s over.
If you’re looking for action and adventure, you won’t find it here, but you will find a solid love story and a good escapist read.
