IT’S ALL ABOUT THAT COWBOY is Carly Bloom’s bonus story at the back of the ONE NIGHT WITH A COWBOY by Sara Richardson. Former homecoming queen, Jessica Acosta, returns to Big Verde, Texas to attend a funeral but runs into the bad-boy-turned-sheriff, Casey Long. They get a second chance at love. Carly Bloom’s characters are well-written in this warm yet amusing romance you don’t want to miss.
What happens when you find out your life was purposefully altered at eighteen to protect an a$$hat?
Jessica and Hope are coming home to Big Verde, Texas for the first time in 12 years for Hope’s Grandma Mavis’ funeral and to correct a situation that’s been allowed to slip too far out of Jessica’s control.
When Casey stops an out of town driver driving a flame red Porsche for running a red light in the center of town, he never could have imagined he would run into the girl who abandoned him after the best night of his life.
Did Casey ignore Jessica’s letters on purpose? Was he embarrassed by her mothers immigration status, or was he just trying, as her mother said, to get into her pants the nights before they fled Big Verde with Casey’s cousin Wade, the now former sheriff, threatening Jessica’s mother as they ran?
Did Jessica never intend to actually go to school with Casey, make plans for forever with him, was she always just trying to get away from Big Verde? Does she know she broke his heart, does he know he broke hers?
A sweet, dark story that shows what family’s will do to keep people apart, and hide stories (and people) that don’t fit the narrative they want the world to see. Carly Bloom has given me a 5, small town, romance full of the best places and ways to escape, and I can’t WAIT to see what Casey and Jessica do next!
Sweet romance, fun characters ,Jessica and Casey are made for each other , Love a good small town, the one who got away story.
Jessica and Casey sizzle from the moment they reconnect! Former high school sweethearts are torn apart by their families right after graduation. Twelve years later they reconnect over the passing of one of Big Verde’s beloved citizens and the time had not dulled their attraction. The former town bad boy and bull rider now sheriff is still on fire for his first love when he pulls her over. Bonding with their old friends and sharing a steamy romp behind the pool pump has these two remembering why they fell in love with each other, to begin with. One big family secret could tear it all apart or bring them even closer.
Carly Bloom has done it again with this sweet, sexy novella!! It’s the perfect tide-me-over until the release of her next book Cowboy Come Home!
It’s All About That Cowboy is a standalone novella in Carly Bloom’s Big Verde, Texas series. It was a fun second chance romance that took place in the same town as Big Bad Cowboy. Jessica was the sweet cheerleader that was dating local bad boy Casey. The last time they saw each other was after graduation where they vowed to love each other and be together forever. Well fate had different plans for Jessica and Casey. Now it is 12 years later and she is returning home for a funeral and has always wondered what happened to the boy she once loved. Casey was devastated when Jessica disappeared 12 years ago and has spent that time growing up. He is now the sheriff of Big Verde and stops a red light runner on the way to his great aunt’s funeral. He is shocked and pleasantly surprised to see Jessica at the wheel. The funeral brings these two together and all of those unanswered questions from 12 years ago will finally be revealed but not by me! This was a quick, fun and slightly steamy story that is told from dual POV and will make you want to head to Texas and find your own cowboy sweetheart!
This is a sweet story that will pull at ll the heartstrings. It touches on some very current in todays society. It poses some other questions such as can a first love really be true love., do other people reallly knows what’s best for us and are you destined to remain who you were when you are young or can you change?
This book will have you tearing up, smiling, laughing, swooning. In other words it hits all the right nerves.
Cassidy will have you sighing. Jessica, will have you pulling for her. Hope will melt your heart. There are plenty of other characters in this book that will have you hoping they get their own stories.
This is a fast read but seriously, once you start you won’t want to stop!
I have to admit it took me a bit to remember this series. I read the first book in late 2018 so when this one came out I almost forgot that I read the first in the series. I’m so glad that even though I didn’t remember reading it I took a chance and requested It’s All About that Cowboy.
I really loved it! It was was a great read. It’s a second chance romance so you didn’t have the build-up to them falling in love but I liked how even after all this time has passed they still loved each other.
It’s sad to realize why they weren’t together. But I also think it’s part of life. Things happen and we grow from them.
Once all the secrets are out and they admit how much they still care for each other you knew they were going to have a happy ever after.
This is the perfect story to read when you have an afternoon to yourself. It gives you a taste of the series so that you can get a feel of it. You’ll enjoy this town and the people who live there. I can’t wait for the next one out in March. For you cowboy lovers out there this is the perfect series to read.
It’s All About That Cowboy is book #1.5 in the Once Upon a Time in Texas series by Carly Bloom. After I read Carly’s first book, Big Bad Cowboy, I couldn’t wait for her next release and have been so excited to get my hands on this. It definitely did not disappoint. This is a short, sexy and sweet second chance romance.
Casey Long was the town bad boy back in his teens. He had also been in love with a girl that saw past his swagger to something better. Something he wanted to live up to. That girl left town with no explanation. But Casey never stopped loving her. And he never stopped wanting to be the man she deserved.
Jessica Acosta had also been in love when she was eighteen years old and was living in Big Verde, Texas with her mother. She was unexpectedly torn away from both the town and the boy she loved. Now, twelve years later, she is back, just for a weekend. She couldn’t believe the boy she once loved was now the town sheriff and all it took was looking into his eyes and all those old feelings were rekindled. But she is only here for the weekend. And there is more at stake now. Secrets she can’t share. Her life is in Houston and that’s how it has to be.
“He’d become the man she’d always known he could be. I knew you could do it, Casey.”
It had been twelve years since Jessica and Casey had seen each other. They may have been young, but their love was true. And their feelings were just waiting for the chance to return. Will they get their second chance? Can they find a way to bring their lives together? Or was this just going to be a chance for a proper goodbye?
This was a short story but oh so full. It’s complete with plenty of swoons, plenty of sweet moments, and plenty of sexy times. Casey had me at “darlin!” I love Carly Bloom’s writing. And I love this little town. I seriously want to live there! I can’t wait for Carly’s next book Cowboy Come Home, which is due out in a little over two months.
“He was a better man because of Jessica Acosta.”
I had not ready anything by this author, but I truly enjoyed this story and plan on checking out more of Ms. Bloom’s books. Sheriff Casey Long had been in love with Jessica Acosta since high school. Jessica and her mother left Big Verde, Texas after her graduation and he was hurt and confused that she left him with no notice. Jess had left town due to a threat to her mother, but wrote Casey asking him to come find her. Twelve years later, she is back in Big Verde for the funeral of Casey’s great aunt. Will they connect and find out what happened that kept them apart all these years? I enjoyed Ms. Bloom’s humorous writing style (especially the dialog about the belt buckle) and her genuine characters. I enjoyed my visit to Big Verde and hope to visit again. It’s All About That Cowboy is the next book in Carly Bloom’s Once Upon a Time in Texas series and after reading the first book in the series, I couldn’t wait for the next one to come out. While this is a novella, it didn’t disappoint!
Casey Long was is currently the sheriff of Big Verde, Texas, but it’s a job that most would never have seen him holding. In high school he was a bad boy, however he fell in love with a girl who saw to the heart of him and who he changed his ways for and saw as his forever. He was shattered when she up and disappeared from his life the night after they made that forever promise. She’s the one girl he’s never stopped thinking about all these years later.
Jessica Acosta was as in love with Casey as he was with him at eighteen, however circumstances forced her to leave both the town and the boy she loved with her mother. It’s been twelve years since she’s been back to Big Verde and she’s only back for a short visit. When she discovers that Casey is the sheriff, she’s shocked. The thing she’s not so shocked about is how all it took was one look into his eyes and all the feelings she had for him came flooding back. Knowing she’s only there for a weekend, she knows nothing can happen, plus she carries a secret that she’s unable to share.
Are these two destined to get a second chance or will the secret that Jess harbors tear them apart?
While this might have been a novella, it was packed full of story. I swooned, I smiled, and I really, really enjoyed. I’m really looking forward to the next book in this series!
A wonderful second chance romance set in Big Verde, Texas.
Back in school Casey Long was the bad boy but one person saw through his image and saw the man he was going to be Jessica Acosta always saw the good in him and in fact she gave him her virginity. The suddenly when she was eighteen she left town without explanation Now twelve years later she has returned for a funeral imagine her surprise when she discovers Casey is now the town sheriff. The attraction between them is still there but so are a lot of secrets one she has left in Houston. As danger escalates due to his uncles involvement will they finally get a chance at the love they both deserve.
This was one hot quick read!!
I loved Casey in this book. Here is the man who once was a troublemaker, who cleaned up his act but who is still in love with his high school sweetheart who left him in the middle of the night. Seeing her again after all these years makes him realize that he hasn’t gotten over her and he wants her and he wants answers.
Jessica had a good reason to leave. I felt for her and her family troubles. She is a strong and compassionate woman who has been looking after everyone else else and hasn’t realized exactly what she lost and what she wants.
Wonderful love story with a second chance at love with your one true love. Jessica Acosta loved Big Verde, Texas. When her Mom became pregnant and things got tough for her Mom they had to move. Jessica became separated from her long time love Casey Long during the move. When she has to return to Texas for a funeral she finds herself running into Casey. You’ll fall in love with the characters and their love story!
Cute story of second chance love at the end of Jay Crownover “Justified”. First book by this author. Jessica and Casey were high school lovers but one night she left and it broke his heart. Forces conspired to keep them apart until they meet again.
