I loved this latest book in the Amish Country Justice series. Lizzy and Isaac are great characters. I did not want to put this book down until I knew what was going to happen to Lizzy. It was also interesting to see how Isaac grew in his faith during this time period also. This has a lot of twists and turns that kept me guessing. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
This fast paced unpredictable Suspense and romantic story will keep readers on the edge of their seats. It kept my interest peaked as I eagerly turned the pages of this riveting book. The author completely drew me into the story and made it seem as though it was really happening. I liked the Characters and the roles they played in this suspense thriller.
Amish lady, Lizzy Miller was in the wrong place at the wrong time. This was not of her own doing but because of her English driver who put her there. Leaving her alone in a running car for too long caused the impatient Lizzy to go out in the rain in search of her driver. She walked into a dangerous situation as she witnessed the murder of her driver and the killer seen her as she fled from the scene.
The chase was on as the killer pursued Lizzy. Sometime during the chase she got pulled over by Officer Isaac Yoder and managed to convinced him that her life was in danger. From that point on Isaac Yoder was her protector as again and again the murderer made attempts to end Lizzy’s life. The Killer seemed to know where she was at all times no matter where they went. Would Isaac Yoder be able to stay one step ahead of the him? Can he protect Lizzy from this vicious murderer?
Romance sparks between the two main characters but this could never work because of Lizzy being Amish. Or could it work?
I would recommend this book to readers of Amish Fiction and suspense fiction. This book is part of the Amish Country Justice series but can be read as a stand alone.
I won a copy of this book from the author in a Facebook group giveaway. A review was not requested. All opinions expressed here are my own.
A great edge of your seat suspense that has you engrossed immediately. The action is nonstop throughout and you never know what the next turn of events will be. Issac’s journey is difficult and finding his way makes the story interesting. Lizzy is identifiable as a strong woman who suffers from trust issues. Dana R. Lynn never fails to deliver a page turner.
I won a copy of this book. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.
It’s amazing how Dana R. Lynn can create a suspense story that is not your typical read intertwined between the English and Amish culture. Lizzy Miller was introduced in an earlier book of Amish Country Justice series with enough history given of her past that Guarding the Amish Midwife can be read as a standalone.
Lizzy faced another trauma and had a lot to overcome in trusting Officer Isaac Yoder. With his past being Amish and becoming an officer brought his own trauma to life as he was trying to protect Lizzy and others from the danger that lured with a murder, kidnapping, ransacking, and so much more in this suspense story. There were plenty of surprises as the suspense unfolded as to all who was involved and why. Fans of Dana R. Lynn or suspense will not want to miss reading Guarding the Amish Midwife with the complexity of the plot, well developed characters along with romance and faith being tested. The end results might just be the most unexpected in several ways.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was under no obligation to write a review and post it. All thoughts are my own.
I love how the author was able to entwine two worlds, the Englisch and the Amish. Isaac left the Amish life to become a police officer in memory of his brother who was murdered. When Lizzy an Amish woman becomes a witness to a murder, Isaac is the officer she finds. Lizxy is no stranger to danger and Isaac begins to question his choices as he comes to care for Lizzy. Full of suspense and surprises this is a page turner that is hard to put down. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
This is not your usual Amish story, nope, we have been gifted with a story that has non-stop action, so don’t get to comfy, trouble is right around the corner.
With what was supposed to be a hired ride to her cousin’s to be there for the birth of her child, turns this young Amish’s woman’s life around.
Is history repeating itself, we have met this woman before, and Lizzy survived, but this time it isn’t looking good.
Add in an attraction to a former Amish policeman, and then there are so many attempts on her life! Then, well you will need to read this one, there are surprise bombshells coming! Enjoy this quick read!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Harlequin, and was not required to give a positive review.
This was another fantastic entry in the Amish Country Justice series. I love how Dana can write stories that are so closely linked without them being cookie cutter copies of each other. Each one has a fresh mystery and a different romantic dilemma.
This book leaps right into the action as Lizzy Miller witnesses the murder of her Englisch driver on her way from her home in LaMar Pond, Pennsylvania, to deliver a cousin’s baby in Ohio. My heart was in my throat as she stared into the killer’s eyes before fleeing for her life. She was lucky to encounter Officer Isaac Yoder, former Amish man turned Englisch cop before the killer caught up to her.
I loved both Isaac and Lizzy. Though both were raised Amish, each has events in their pasts that sent them in different directions. Lizzy was a victim in a terrifying attack a few years earlier that left her with many fears and a deep distrust of men. Her faith and her family gave her the strength to go on with her life. Isaac lost his younger brother in a violent attack. Dissatisfied with his father’s choices in handling the murder, Isaac left family and faith behind, vowing to work for justice in his brother’s memory.
The development of the relationship between Isaac and Lizzy was sweet and heartbreaking. They were drawn to each other from the very beginning. Lizzy was surprised to discover that she trusted Isaac almost from the moment she met him. I loved seeing that trust deepen the longer they spent together, and how that trust also spread to others she encountered thanks to his influence. It wasn’t long before her heart began to get involved, and Lizzie found herself dreaming of a life with him. I ached for her because she knew it would only be possible if she left her Amish community, something she couldn’t begin to consider, or Isaac returned to his. I loved Isaac’s determination to do whatever necessary to keep Lizzie safe. He tried very hard to convince himself that it was part of his job, but he couldn’t lie to himself for long. But Isaac knew that he could never ask her to leave her faith and family behind, just as he was sure that he could never go back himself. There were many beautiful scenes of the two of them together, sharing their pasts, watching out for each other. I loved seeing Isaac bite the bullet and take Lizzie to the only place where he was sure she would be safe, and Lizzie’s support of him as he faced the life he left behind. I hurt for them both when the case was over and they went their separate ways. I loved the ending and laughed out loud at the conversation that Isaac had with his friend Ryder.
The suspense of the story was outstanding. I was glued to the pages from the start as Isaac and the others worked to find the killer before he got to Lizzy. It seemed that no matter what they did, the killer was right on their heels. The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat, unable to put the book down until I finished it. The final confrontation with intense, with a player that I didn’t see coming. I loved how Lizzy and Rebecca kept their heads and contributed to their own rescue.
I am going to miss the people of LaMar pond and the families I’ve gotten to “know” over the last two years. But I look forward to spending more time in Waylan Grove. I’d love to see Ryder get his own story.
This is an incredible romantic suspense novel!
I love the development of both of the main characters in this story. They have each had very difficult circumstances in their pasts that have shaped who they are. Lizzy was a victim in a very frightening attack a few years before this book opens. She still struggles with many fears because of it. Isaac lost his brother in a violent attack and made life changing choices as a result. The memory of that event still drives him. I was amazed at how strong Lizzy was in this new situation after what she had already been through.
The plot was fantastic! It kept me on the edge of my seat. I was totally invested in the outcome.
I talked to Isaac a lot during the second half of the book. He seemed a little dense to me and I knew what he needed to do long before he figured it out. He just didn’t want to listen to me. I get so frustrated with characters that don’t listen to me.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not required to give a positive review. All of the opinions expressed are my own.
