Her beauty once opened doors, but the felony conviction slams them shut. Harper Cloud used to love the gilded glamour of Las Vegas, but on the far side of prison, she sees the cracks in the veneer. These days, she keeps her head down and focuses on the elderly patients in her care. Even her new wealthy east-coast boyfriend, Derrick, can’t entice her away. She’s trusted men before, and look where … trusted men before, and look where that got her.
She tries to brush off the feeling that she’s being watched. But when she’s followed home one night and her pursuer gets within a hair’s breadth of grabbing her, she knows it’s time to get away from Las Vegas.
Maybe Derrick can be trusted. Maybe his job offer—to care for his aging grandfather in Maryland—will be the second chance she needs.
But Derrick has secrets of his own, secrets that could take him down–and take Harper with him.
Can there be a second chance for someone like her?

Solid main character and definitely not predictable. Good read.
A clean book, but I hated the open ending. Should have just made the book longer so the story would be complete. Felt like a ploy to make me purchase the next book which I refuse to do. Don’t bother with it.
this book has some good points if the story had had an ending. Unknowingly I started a book that had a sequel. Would have purchased the sequel if this book had been a page turner, but it was not. Then it leaves the reader completely hanging.
Beauty in Flight is a well-written story with great characters. I quickly got interested in the plot and the suspense. I enjoyed reading about Harper and the turnaround she made in her life. I admired her attempts to become a better person. I was quite disappointed, however, that there was nothing really resolved at the end of the book. It just ended abruptly. I like to have a resolution of sorts in the stories I read, even if they’re a series. For this reason, I deducted a star from my rating. Just be aware that if you want to find out what happens, you’ll have to buy the rest of the series. Robin Patchen is a talented writer, and I’ll probably read more of her stories in the future.
This is definitely a series book, because this story goes no where fast and the climax is the end of the book. The concept is good and engages you, but the real action doesn’t happen til the end of the story and leaves wondering. I’m not really into these types of stories, because I think the author just wants you to buy 3 books instead of just one and there is no real end to the story, if I can’t get the next 2 books. The story has merit but could go a lot further without all the back story of the first book.
