First let me state that I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review. Also this author is new to me, but this won’t be the last book of hers I read.
OMG!!! This story was so awesome. It took me a but at first to get into it, (sometimes I hate too much info or background, I’m impatient), but when the story picked up, I couldn’t put it down. At one point I actually hated Fate and the Angels. I cried so hard my heart hurt. Whenever I read a story that gives me such strong emotions, I know it’s a gr8 story. I recommend this read 5 Thumbs up,
Give me good angst and I’m a hot mess. So of course I cried, I won’t hold it against you when you cry. Maybe I should back it up and explain…
Unforsaken is about a Guardian and his Chosen. (Think naughty guardian angel! 😉 ) It is a constant struggle to do what is right and what ones heart is telling them. The battle is fought with every thing he has. It’s admirable and romantic. And it made me lose my battle against my tears. I drowned in the slippery little buggers while fighting and pleading with Raven to hold on.
It’s funny how easy it is to slip into the story and feel like a supporting cast member. If only…I totally see myself as a Raine type. Well, in reality it would be minus the death defying heels because I’m a total klutz.
I can’t wait to see what kind of trouble the Guardians prevent in the future. And what kind of ever after we will get…
Unforsaken is the first in the brand new Fallen Guardians series by Cassie Laelyn, who is also a brand new author. And while Fallen Angels may not be a totally new concept; Ms Laelyn’s interpretation is definitely refreshing. As with any PNR story involving conflict, there are good guys, bad guys and the ones that somehow get caught in the middle. This is the story of Raven, the immortal Fallen Guardians leader, and Tayla, who is a mortal Chosen and Raven’s to protect. Then there’s’ Blaine; he’s a bad guy, who just happens to be Raven’s brother and a smartarse to boot!
Ms Laelyn’s world building is wonderful, with realistic descriptions of the elements and terrain, while her plot ensures reader interest and definitely provides a need to know how everything ends flavour. I did find the story a little slow around the middle, but the desire to continue was never an issue. Queue the cast; Raven is troubled by guilt and failure to save not only Blaine, but his closest companions and return them all to the Heavens. Tayla is trying to start life anew, and escape the crippling fear she has harboured since her attack by an unknown evil. Aric is essentially Raven’s second, and has his own personal demons, while EJ is the class clown and go to tech geek of the group. As the story progresses two additions are added to the trio, but there is some serious mystery surrounding River and Raine’s arrival and the underlying reason for their inclusion in the discarded assembly.
Overall, this was a fabulous start to what is sure to be a rather addictive series, and I’m sure there will be more mystery, mayhem and scorching romance to come in future books by MS Laelyn; well I certainly hope there is!
P.S. Don’t forget to sign up for Cassie Laelyn’s newsletter at the end of the story (there’s a link to follow) as there is a BONUS epilogue you won’t want to miss!
The cover of the story drew me in to read it. I loved how mysterious and brooding the male hero Raven looked.
This has a unique world building storyline with angels, the fallen and Fate. Raven and Tayla had great chemistry. He goes to great lengths to protect the woman he loves. Everyone will fall in love with Raven, and Tayla is relatable.
I also enjoyed the secondary character Raine – an expensive-stiletto-wearing badass female fighter.
Looking forward to reading more in the series.Cassie Laelyn
Oooh my Raven a hot guardian here to protect one person on her path and wants to get back to heaven but he has to complete his mission first and there’s a slight issue he needs to fix.
Tayla is running from a might she wants to forget then one night she meets Blaine and Raven who are they why is she drawn to Raven?
It’s a wicked read loved it bsck into the paranormal world
I haven’t read too many angel romances, but I’m so glad I picked this one up. Laelyn’s characters were fun to read about and I enjoyed watching Raven finally come out of the shadows of being Tayla’s sworn Guardian so that they could pursue their soulful attraction to one another. I really liked how the author handled the mythos of her angels. Guardians, Fallen and mortal Chosen are all tied to the demands of fickle Fate, trying to fulfill their, sometimes, perilous destinies. I loved all of the supporting characters as well and am anxious to see what they’ll get up to in the rest of the series. Can’t wait to read more!
I LOVED this first book in this amazing series. I read this a little out of order but still enjoyed them very much. This first book does a terrific job explaining the world that this series has created. A world of Guardian angels, Fallen angels and Chosen mortals. Raven is the Guardian of this book and Tayla is the Chosen that he is protecting but she is also his soulmate. The book follows the progression of their relationship and into an amazing conclusion for this couple. There is more to this series and I would recommend reading all of it!

Raven was a fallen angel who was the leader of a group of angels living on earth trying to save their brother that had crossed over to the bad side. Fate had sentenced them to earth as punishment until they turned Blaine good again. Tayla was the chosen human that Raven was charged to protect but she was more than a charge, she was his destiny. This was a good read with a well written love story wrapped in a web of angels and demons fighting on earth over the chosen humans. Fun read

Solid 4.5 star
You are intrigued and eager to learn more about Raven and the others who are stuck here on earth for reasons you don’t learn straight away, as well as wanting to know why Raven is so drawn to Tayla and what happened to her before the book started. I love how you connected with the characters as well as could feel how they felt, the danger that lurks and mysteries to be delved into along with not knowing quiet who to trust or the motives of others. I loved how Raven and Tayla’s attraction to each other was strong but neither of them know why and even though Raven gets hints it takes a while to fall into place however their love could all be for nothing. I an not wait to read the next book and see what is install for them all!!!

This is another new author for me! But Holy Crap this is just the beginning and I have to say WHAT are we in for? Well to put it bluntly; Something Spectacular! This is very visual and it tells a story I have never read before! It is considered a paranormal but it is such a different take that I could not put it down! SO much is here within these pages that it grabs you and holds on until the very end! It is unbelievably written and has a spark that lights this story up! The character Raven and Tayla were exceptionally written. Get ready for the heat between these two; prepare to be burned and your accept the fact that your heart will never be the same. Then you have the world building that is amazing as it is spectacular! There are twists and turns that I did not see coming and well it is just a great story! I highly recommend this author and this series!

This is my first read of this author and I have to tell you I was very impressed a wonderful story about the fight between good and evil it centre around three angels sent to earth to not only rescue a fallen angel but also save the chosen ones humans who are important in the battle between good and evil This book had me engaged from almost the first page and I couldn’t put it down looking forward to more in the series
Raven is an angel sent to earth with his companions Aric and EJ also angels there main job is to restore fallen angel Blaine back to heaven (yes he is the bad guy but he is also lovable and I want his story) Raven knows that he is losing his touch and that if he isn’t careful he could end up in hell himself Then he is given the job of protecting Tayla the attraction between these two is immediate and hot As danger circles her Raven will do whatever he needs to in an effort to keep her safe little realising that in her own way she will in fact be the one to save him.
This author did not disappoint. This novel reached out and grabbed me from the very first page and did not let go until the very last.
spellbinding it’ll reel you in an never let you go.

Unforsaken paves the way for what promises to be a long and wonderful new series. It was wonderful to read a paranormal romance that centered on some refreshing new characters, angels. Not only was the main couple, Raven & Tayla, great but there are so many secondary characters that I’m hoping to learn much more about! Raven, Aric and EJ are angels who have been tasked with the monumental challenge of restoring fallen angel Blaine to the heavens. While saving Blaine is their primary purpose on Earth they also have the secondary job of protecting individuals, the Chosen, who play an important role in the war between heaven and hell.
I enjoyed so many things about this book that I’ll try to narrow it down for this review. Laelyn writes so vividly that every scene is painted beautifully while you read this book. I can perfectly picture what each angel looks like, wings and all. Oh, and I’m definitely a sucker for the wings *fans self*. I also really liked the role that fate played in this story. I can’t elaborate on that anymore because I loathe leaving spoilers in a review. Lastly I’ll say that while Blaine is the “bad guy” that they are trying to rescue I actually really like him. Hopefully in the future he will get his own book!
This was such a good take on a fallen angel! He was hot and brooding and the heroine was amazing! If you are looking for a different kind of book this will be right up your alley!
I was seriously in love with the Angel Raven. The Guardian that is to protect the Chosen, Tayla. He felt a connection with her that was stronger than any of Chosen he had to protect. Tayla knows there are monsters in the dark. She had encountered one before and know one believed her. You embark on a journey that Fate has set out for these two characters.
Unforgiven is the first book in The Fallen Guardians series by Cassie Laelyn. The story focuses on head Guardian Raven who was exiles centuries ago and has a sense of foreboding that his time may soon be coming to an end. He is given the task of looking after a mortal, Tayla Easton who is on the run after surviving a horrific attack on her life. The story focuses on Fate and how entwined Raven and Tayla’s life have become and how sometimes life comes down to the hard choices.
This story was slow to start with as Tayla doesn’t really know what is going on and Raven is certainly having a crisis of faith. We see that the story all revolves around Fate and battling the near immortal called that as well as Tayla coming to the conclusion that there is more than just mere mortals in the world. It definitely is a slow burn book and it takes a long while for the characters to get going as well as figure out that they are meant to be.
There are some side characters such as Raven’s ‘immortal’ brothers who I think will have their own side-story in the near future which will be great. This story is very well written and although it takes a little while to get into it, it will keep you hooked and guessing on what is going to happen.
ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review
