Lennox Freeman (Free) is one of the best hackers in the world which has caused him to spend most of his life on the run. Never able to put down roots, he couldn’t trust anyone not to take advantage of him, even his own family. If it wasn’t for his best friend, Tech, shielding him, Free’s father would’ve sold him and his skills to the highest bidding crime family when he was still a student at … MIT. Free owed Tech his life; so when his friend called for him to come to Atlanta to work with him, he couldn’t say no. However, he wasn’t expecting the overprotective group of detectives that made up Atlanta PD’s most notorious task force. And he certainly wasn’t prepared for the large-and-in-charge SWAT Captain that was responsible for their safety.
Ivan Hart has lived and bled one creed all of his life: To Serve and Protect. His intense focus and determination in law enforcement has led him to finally commanding his own team. He’d worked hard to put together a squad of badasses capable of backing up a very dangerous team of detectives. Being God and Day’s last line of defense came with a lot of responsibility that he took very seriously.
After his divorce was final Hart turned right around and remarried his job. He had his good friends there in the office with him every day, so it was easier to ignore the few quiet hours he spent at home alone each night. He’d settled well into his new routine and was comfortable with it. Then God decided to disrupt everything by hiring another tech specialist for his department. A man whose brains, trendy looks, and voice would leave Hart tongue-tied and captivated at their first introduction.
Free quickly awakens a passion in Hart that he long thought was dead. An attraction he didn’t know existed. He couldn’t fathom that the sexy cyber genius could be interested in an over-sized, big-bearded brute that served criminals the bottom line for a living. No matter what his best friend, God said.
A future with Hart could be potentially dangerous and often times full of terrifyingly close calls; but little did he know that so could falling for the most hunted hacker in the world. All Lennox Freeman wants in life is security, love and protection… Hart had all that to give and more.
This novel is a part of a series and contains previously mentioned characters, but CAN BE read as a standalone. No cliffhangers.

I really enjoyed the build up of Leo (Day) and Cash’s (God) partnership. The instant connection on their first day as rookies and the strength of their friendship over the years. Then their friendship turning from romantic and sexual to love and lovers.
The friendship they develop within the joy and the family drama help give depth to the story.
Overall, it kept my attention and the narration was well done. I know a lot of friends I will recommend this story to. But for me it had way too much sex. At least more than I wanted to listen to.
This book has it all
I’d been seeing this series recommended for a while and finally got around to trying the first book. I’m glad I did. The book has something for everyone…action, steam, emotion, secrecy, eroticism, friends to lovers, emotional baggage…it’s a roller coaster ride of emotions.
I really liked the MCs Cash and Leo, God and Day. The author does a good job of building the character for Cash but it feels like I missed a chapter or two on Leo’s background. Nevertheless I felt like I got to know both characters well and definitely rooted for them to get their HEA. By the end the emotion of their connection is so strong I could practically feel it vibrating off the page.
There are some strong secondary characters and an interesting storyline with a couple that adds an unexpected dimension to the story.
I’m looking forward to reading more of this series.
**Audible Review**
Loving this series. It just keep getting better and better. Love Free and Hart. Their romance is so sweet. They both deserve to be loved and they are a lovely couple. This story had the humor, the friendships, some action, a little angst and sweet sensual love. Aiden Snow is the best with this serious. His voice draws you in and keeps you engaged. I love it
AN UNFORSEEN LOVE
Free had just joined God’s task force as the new IT guy. He taught Tech almost everything he knows. He is a genius at anything technological. Hart is a divorced SWAT captain that everyone believes is straight. The dynamics between the meek and mild Free and the spousal abused Hart lead to a sweet yet dynamic story. It was a relief to see that each was able to feed off the other’s strength and grew to be more stable people from their interactions.
I revisited the book because it had portions that were dear to me.

I really enjoyed this book which wasn’t a surprise as I thoroughly enjoyed the previous books. Man Lennox Freeman ‘Free’ is a scary genius and if you hurt anyone innocent or did something to someone he cares about and loves he use every still at his disposal make your life a living hell, which would completely be deserved. I hate how Hart was basically forced into marrying his vindictive ex-wife because she got pregnant and was threatened by her Daddy, even though he has morals he would’ve completely supported Reese and his kid, he then had to endure years of basically being a stud for hire when she wanted a kid, but kept on losing them and blamed the whole thing on Hart. He’d been divorced for awhile when he noticed Free, God & Day’s new Tech specialist and was hooked from the start. Due to what Free has been through in his life cops especially massive ones make him nervous but when he meets Hart, he looks into to his eyes and knows that the man is a complete gentle giant. They’re great together and I liked that after suffering years of mental ab*se from his ex-wife he’s pretty unsure of everything but Free helps him and then when he finally starts letting go of everything that his ex told him, he slowly starts to come into the man he should been and starts to bring out his inner d*m. I loved Hart & God’s friendship. The bit that made me laugh out loud was that after Hart grounded God’s team because they got in a shootout in a civilian restaurant and Tech had to escape with Free in the car and they got in a car chase so Hart’s team deployed without his command. They go over to Hart’s and interrupt Hart & Free, When Free answers the door half dressed the team basically try and make him use everything at his disposal to try and relax Hart so he’ll hopefully let them work again. Day is definitely the worst out of them all. Hart had heard everything their team said and found it pretty funny. I loved the snippet of Bull and Fox at the end and I hope we get to read some more about them as their riding lessons should be interesting. I think Fox is exactly what Bull needs but i guess I won’t find out until I read the remaining books in the series. I’d recommend this book, series & author to everyone.
It was heartwarming, steamy with a happily ever after. I love A.E. Via’s books, read quite a few the love she puts in every book is the romance I’ll always enjoy reading. The characters in the books are loving, haunted some with bad backgrounds with burdens they overcome with the help of the awesome men they fall head over heels for. They will protect them with every fiber of skills, body and mind.
I absolutely loved His Hart’s Command. I think it’s my favourite in the Nothing Special Series so far. Free and Hart were just so great together. I couldn’t help but fall in love with them. I wanted to throat punch a character in a book. Seriously, if I could put my fist through the book, I would have. I loved the combination of God & Day’s command as well as Hart’s SWAT command. It was great to see God’s and Hart’s relationship as well.
It was hot and sexy and so much sweetness. I loved it. Still lots of action, crime, guns, and camaraderie between all the characters. It just keeps me wanting to read more. I absolutely recommend this book.
It was great to learn more about the SWAT members as well, and I am so looking forward to the next story.
4 stars
well, I had written a really good long review to this book but I don’t know why it didn’t get saved… So now it will just be a short one.
I loved this book, I love A.E Via and everything she writes. This book was so much more than just about Free and Hart, it was about there teams and friends, about being defeated but still keep going on and how if you just have the right people in your life everything will be okay. I loved seeing this new side to God and how he was an amazing friend to Hart.
This book was a perfect add-on to this series.
I can’t wait for the next one!
It seems like I waited forever for Free and Hart’s story but man oh man was it worth the wait. I loved both men. Both of their backstories are heartwrenching, especially. Hart. You would think it would be nerdy little free but no, this book shows us that big, Alpha men can be victims of abuse as well. It also shows us that verbal abuse is a real thing and I applaud A.E. Via for touching on this subject.
We also get to see Tech, God and some of the other guys as well as meeting Fox whom I fell head over heels for.
The story is interesting and action packed though I think there is more to come. I cannot wait for the next book to see Foxes story!
If you like Alpha males, nerds, hot detectives, S.W.A.T, a sweet romance, and some hot man-sex.
Love this author and have loved this entire series! Keep them coming!
4.25 stars
Free and Hart were both easy-to-like characters. I liked how genuine they were and that they were a little bit of a break from the usual macho MCs in these stories. They were still confident in themselves but they each had vulnerabilities that made them that more endearing to me.
There was a little bit of insta-love with these guys but I was okay with it. This author knows how to write a steamy sex scene with good dirty talk and Free and Hart displayed that as well. I also liked that a lot of the focus was on the two of them. I do enjoy the back stories of the different cases the characters are working on, but I appreciated getting more of just the two of them since they did commit to each other fairly quickly. I feel like Fox’s story is going to be hilarious and steamy and I am eager for him and his cowboy to get their HEA!

AE Via has done it again! This series is one of my top three favorites. I truly love coming back to it again and again. I’m like a kid in a toy story when I hear another book is on the way. I was fascinated by Free’s character in Nothing Special V but completely fell in love with him with this book. He’s always searched for a safe place and with Captain Hart he finds it along with a strength he’s never known. My heart ached at times for what Hart experienced in his life. He is so admirable, strong and immensely caring. These two characters come together perfectly and built a beautiful love story. This author’s talent is so incredible and deeply appreciated. I can’t wait for the next masterpiece.
