“Captain Anderson and the crew of the USS Nautilus exemplified daring and boldness in taking their boat beneath the Arctic ice to the North Pole. This expertly told story captures the drama, danger, and importance of that monumental achievement.” –Capt. Stanley D. M. Carpenter, Professor of Strategy and Policy, United States Naval War College

Wow! Don’t read if you are fearful of tight spaces, extreme cold, all while under thick ice
America’s nuclear submarines are a huge piece of our national advantage. This great story is about their early development. The Navy does a great job of putting our very best crews aboard these boats, and this book illustrates it again. I’m glad these guys are on our side.
A great history first atomic sub exploring the under ice anartic. Author seems a bit too nice….
This is a good updating of Anderson’s original book “Nautilus 90 North”. This time, more material that was classified and couldn’t be included in the original book. Excellent read!
What a great story. I enjoyed the adventure and admire the sailors who could make this happen.
This another example of the excellence of the men and women who serve our nation in our militaries.
Interesting but dated.
True story of the first submarine (nuclear) to undertake finding a route under the Artic Ice Pack. 20th century explorers not unlike early ones who “discovered” or are giving credit for finding the Western Hemisphere. Insight into the thinking of society living in the Cold War.
Unbelievable story of Nautilus and the men who made history. Thrilling to read. And yes, I have gone to see and view the Nautilus.
You are in the sub — under the polar ice-pack — one almost gets claustrophobic.
