They saved us. Can I save them?I’m no hero, but I know how to keep one’s seat warm. Ten years ago, my brother saved the galaxy. Now I’m wasting my life as a glorified spokesperson on the ship he left behind. A sudden act of heroics put me onto the galactic stage in a big way, but the recognition I thought I wanted comes with I price I can’t stand to pay. I’ll even organize an interstellar road … even organize an interstellar road trip to keep from paying it. Just my crew and the Wreckers. His team in the ship they used to save us.
It was supposed to be our goodbye; one last hurrah. If only things were that simple.
Four broken men.
One ship.
A race to secure the future.
I am way above my pay grade.

Her brother was the hero. She just wants to live a quiet life. But we don’t always get what we asked for.
This is the first book in a new space adventure series and there is a lot going on. You get introduced to a lot of characters, enough so that you almost feel like you missed an earlier book. But like the heroine, you get dropped into some action and intrigue and just go with the flow. Once you get past all the introductions, the action builds and picks up pace considerably.
I thought the book got off to a slow start, but then started rolling. It does need a good edit as there were several missing or wrong words which made me pause to figure out the real intent, but not so many to ruin the story. Also, fair warning, this is book one and it does end on a cliffhanger. I am looking forward to the next book.
Recommended.

After 10 years, Ambassador Tameron Cage, Galactic Alliance Diplomatic Corps, still didn’t like Aurora Station. The floral fragrance from the oxygen scrubbers, intended to make it smell like nature, didn’t succeed. Just something about those curved walls and the durasteel wasn’t enough to make it seem like the real thing. Every year the galaxy paused for Memorial Week where they honored the heroes who had fought for their survival, and Commander Jackson Cage, the man who had saved the galaxy, was one of their biggest heroes. If he had lived, his sister knew he would have hated that notoriety.
Commander Galeon Howard took Tam totally by surprise, stepping out from the shadows as she went through security. She was well over him and their past, and yet he still seemed to get under her skin and irritate her. She didn’t know he was going to be here this year, or she would not have come. He wanted to draw her attention to the increased number of protestors inside. But she preferred not to talk to him any further. He finally walked off and left her in peace. As Izzy hurried up to her to ask if that was who she thought it was, one of the protestors caught Tam’s eye and she shoved Izzy to the ground as the concussion grenade caused chaos in the room.
Tam went to her sister-in-law, J’Selle’s room, where she stayed on her annual visit here. This time, she saw a small black bag and figured J’Selle had another guest staying – and probably male. But she insisted she didn’t want to know the guy’s identity, even though J’Selle kept insisting. She also wasn’t going to the festivities since she had a slight concussion from the explosion earlier. She instead watched the dignitaries arrive on the screen until she spotted a man with a black swirl tattoo on his neck – the design used by the Radiance Lives protestors! She raced to the casino, where they held the Cage Memorial Gala each year, to warn them of another possible attack! Sneaking through the maintenance tunnels, she joined with a man she finally recognized as Shadow, one of the Wreckers who had served with her brother. He had a plan and dropped her through a hole in the ceiling on top of the leader of the attack, a 30-foot drop! When the others pulled her off of the man, she realized why. The bad guys were all on the floor, most unconscious, and she noted that Alix Barnes, Galeon Howard, The Lady, and Xaveer the Demon — the Wreckers – had everything under control. But there was more to come! Would they truly be ready for it?
Because there was so much action and so many characters introduced right from the beginning of the book, it was a just a bit difficult to get fully immersed in the story. But it quickly picked up as the reader is made aware that there were more protestors than expected and a sense that something might go wrong. The story line moved along quickly, and the unease kept the reader invested in whatever might be coming next. All the elements combined to make a very good story that is worth reading! Join the author at the start of this new space series which looks like it’s going to be quite interesting!
Extremely entertaining, captivating and interesting sexy read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong, intriguing characters. I want to read more from this author.
