NBA player, Leland McClain, the baby of the McClain family, is tall, handsome, talented…and spoiled. He’s a man who gets what he wants, and what he wants is the lovely Kimberly Hampton.Kim Hampton is the director of a community center, a woman who lives to help others while trying to forget a troubling past. As far as she’s concerned, a relationship with any man is a horrible idea. But a … a relationship with Leland McClain? That’s just out of the question.
He has to have her.
She is undeniably attracted to him.
But will she lower her guard and let him hold her?
**Note: This is a love story involving an older woman and a younger man which contains profanity and sexual content. If you do not like these elements in your romantic reads, this is not the book for you.**

I didn’t think I would like this brother as much as Big South but damn was I wrong! Ms. House is a master with the pen. I went into these books not knwoing what I was getting into and walked out a fiend for these McClain boys!
Older woman and younger man meets sports romance!
Leland and Kim have many reasons why a relationship between them is a bad idea but there is something undeniable pulling them together and Leland isn’t going to miss his shot.
Kim deserves this HEA so much! As her past is explored throughout the book you can’t help but root for her to find love with Leland. And Leland definitely has the same swagger and capacity for love as his big brother! I absolutely adore how these McClain men know they love these women and aren’t afraid to say it but also admit when they are wrong and listen before making snap decisions…in other words act like a grown up!
CW/TW: on the page and remember domestic violence as well as gun violence. I would definitely suggest checking out other reviews for more detailed CW/TW.

STORY:
This is book 2 in The McClain Family series. I enjoyed book 2 and the storytelling. This story could get very emotional at times because of the domestic abuse that was taking place and had taken place. However, once Leland came in to the picture, there was no turning back. These McClain brothers, knows how to treat a woman. This was an older woman/younger man, and it was not at all off-putting. Story building and the family structure the author builds with the McClain’s pulls you in. Leland was such a good and positive character. His love for Kim just made him prefect. Kim was older and sometimes appear the younger and indecisive one in the relationship, but understood her need to keep their relationship a secret.
The only thing was, that little boy Leland helped, I wanted to see another scene with them after what went down at his home. It’s not major, but that little boy was a big part on Leland and Kim coming together.
SEXUAL CHEMISTRY:
Sexually, no complaints. Leland and Kim had good sex scenes.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
Listening to the audio so might not get the spelling of the names correct.
Pineapples – the actual fruit. Lol good secondary character in both books.
Uncle Lee – omg I need him to call me every day to brighten my day.
Z – Kim’s best friend and cousin. I’m sorry I couldn’t stand her because she kept breaking her confidence and that really irritated me.
Kim’s son- not pleased with him at all. He and that co-worker of Kim’s, Erick, whatever his name is. I needed little more payback on him.
McClain brothers – sexy.
There were so many characters that brought this story to life, whether they didn’t have good intentions or the best.
OVERALL: love this story and felt I got a perfect storyline. I am in love with this family.
TRIGGERS: Domestic abuse
****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.
I am truly enjoying this series, and Leland McClain is another fine AF brother not knowing he’s found his HEA when he wasn’t even looking.
Leland is an NBA start, and baby brother of rap mogul “Big South,” Everett McClain. Just moving from Miami to St. Louis and starting with a new team, Leland is the brother that likes older women. He likes women that are settled and not looking to get married and have babies. Leland has no plans for anything other than fun w/the ladies, and playing basketball. He’s also volunteering in a basketball camp at a recreational center managed by Kim Hampton. When Leland sees Kim, he’s immediately attracted to her, and thinks maybe she’d be up for some “fun.”
Kim, the director of the social center where Leland and his teammates volunteer, isn’t interested in anything other than a booty call. With her workload full, and her personal life amounts to mostly hanging with her cousin, Kim’s not looking for Mr. Right. She has a few bad relationships in her rearview mirror, and except for a strictly physical policy when it comes to the fellas, nothing much is going on in the romance department. When a situation puts Leland and Kim in the same place, they get to know each other a little better, and after some time, decide on a friends w/benefits situation. Of course, the feelings happen, and how they react to those feelings is very interesting.
No spoilers, but there is plenty heat in this story. Like the first book in this series, these brothers know their way around a woman’s body, and are quite skilled in the physical aspects of pleasure. I loved Leland and Kim’s story. There are some updates from the first book, and their families show up, and I adore their uncle and his bluetooth headset.
Jakobi and Adenrele narrate this story beautifully. Off to the next McClain brother!
4.5 Stars
I feel confident in the amount of this authors books get better with every one I read. Ms. House writes some really fun, grown characters and although they might play silly sometimes, I enjoyed every single second of this.
How Am I Just Finding This Author??
Well…LET ME HOLD YOU is as good or better than book 1… I loved the first book in this series, so much, but I am always concerned when I read a new “first book in a series” book by an author I’ve never read before…..I mean, sometimes, it’s just a good, first book…but I’m happy to say, that after reading this book…I’m gonna just buy the rest of the set now…
This book is about Leland McClain….the baby McClain brother…the tall, hot, NBA star….the businessman…Oh! And Leland only dates older women..
When Leland spots Kimberly Hampton in the stands at a game and stares a little too long, his teammate, Armand, goes ballistic…well…Kim IS Armand’s mother….Anyway, Leland leaves his Miami team to come to St. Louis…..where Kim now lives….When Leland does volunteer work at the youth center where Kim is the director, there is a spark…Did I say spark?? These two can’t be in a room together without causing an explosion….
I am so thankful I found this author…Alexandria House writes a good book…the dialogue is sexy and smart and so funny…the characters are likable and lickable….We all need a Leland…And I can’t wait to get to the next book in this series…
This is an age gap book, don’t get me wrong I’ve read them but it’s always the other way around. It’s different, love everything about the book except for the female character, my issue with her is the constant talked down about the age difference and fear of being found our by her son. Yes she went through a lot in the past but this man came correct, no drama, no nonsense but just you and me. Overall it is an amazing read, it shows that life is messy and hard but with the right person in your corner you can do anything. Would I ever read an age gap book just like this? Maybe, maybe not you never knowwould I recommend it? Absolutely! My opinion is not the only one that matters, IT IS TRULY AN AMAZING READ!! Would I read anything else by this author? Are you kidding me? You darn Skippy I will, as a matter of fact I’m getting ready to read the 3rd book soon as I’m done with this review
Really enjoyed this story about a strong, faithful, supportive man who was all about putting the woman he loved first.
I also liked the fact that Leland was willing to walk away when Kim was determined to keep the relationship a secret.
Kim struggled with a secret she was holding onto for dear life. I wish that it had been part of the story that Kim got some counseling. I don’t care how much Leland loved or worshipped her. With her past and that jacked up relationship with both her mother and her son, she was in serious need of some therapy. I was surprised that she didn’t, especially with her being a social worker. Sad to say, most of her family was toxic.
I like the McClain family, and can always count on “Unc” for a few good laughs. It was nice to revisit Big South, Jo, and the rest of the gang.
Now I know I really need to get my levels up…. Won’t be pineapples. Gonna have see what peaches can do.
The second book was as amazing as the first. I am hooked on the McClain Men!
